That has to be the most horrible case of classic cartoon desecration since the redreawn-colorized cartoon!
It's true... Disney is little less than a sad excuse for what it used to be.

That looks terrible! Why in the world would they do that? Disney's characters have been popular as 2-d drawings for over 70 years, why should the change them now?

I only got sound from the clip, but that was annoying enough! The image was just as bad as the other ones I've seen from this. However, even if this was a 2-D movie, I wouldn't be expecting much from it. Was "Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas" a high quality and very entertaining piece? I didn't think so. Still, it sucks to see more favourite characters being rendered and updated so poorly.

"soulless moving dolls".

Bean-counters in Hollywood still seem to think the public wants this sort of thing:

If Toy Story = $$
and Ice Age = $$$$
and Shrek = $$$$$$$$
and Finding Nemo = $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Therefore (Popeye, Donald Duck, Terrytoons, ....anything classical with a historical proven track record translated to 3D) must = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Might as well say it one more time for the sheer effect of driving the point home: Hollywood executives and company CEOs DON'T CARE about the properties they bastardize, THEY ONLY LOOK AT THE BOTTOM LINE RETURN ON AN INITIAL INVESTMENT. If jumping on the badwagon and throwing all their studios' history into a big bonfire would bring even the slightest bit of money into their pockets, they'd do it. IT'S A BUSINESS, with no respect to the art form.

Sad to say, but it's really going to take a buch of GGI films bombing out before the folks in Hollywood come to their senses and realize 3-D graphics do not bring customers into theaters, stories do. "Finding Nemo" or "Toy Story" would have done just as well in 2-D as in 3-D, while no amount of 3-D wizardry could have saved any of Eisner's recent string of animated bombs without major surgery in the script department. But it will take another two years at least before that lesson can even begin to sink in.

yes I must say that those characters are pretty ugly, it burns the eyes almost. and I agree with J Lee its the stories and plots that bring the people in not the animation, that was probably why Home on the Range bombed.
And Daffysleftfoot LOL:D

Oh yeah. I forgotten!! Disney now finished realised animated movies in 2-D. The latests are My Brother Bear and Home on the Range.

Well, maybe there's a good side to this. Perhaps audieces will evenually tire of bad computer graphics and start wanting something else, something more... human. Or maybe I'm just being silly, but I'll tell you this, when i make my first animated short, I WILL NOT use computers in any way ... well, maybe for sound, but that's it. long live hand-painted cells!
