I'm not understanding the order of episodes on the Batman: TAS DVD. In episode 2, Joker goes to Archem but in episode 4 he's out in the city causing mischief again. Is this how they were aired or am I missing something?

Yes theyre in order. There was never a strict continuity in the series where the Joker is concerned. In some episodes it looks like he's died at the end, then he's back a few episodes later, never a word about it. At the end of some episodes he's sent to Arkham, then a few episodes later he's back no mention about it. U just have to assume these things happen off camera. Its just the Joker being the Joker.

Yeah, they never cared about continuity for villians. After all, in one episode Joker gets eaten by a shark.
As for the episodes being in order, well it depends what you consider in order. I consider the order to be the order they aired in in my area. Other people consider the production order to be the correct order. Also, episodes aired differently in other areas. We had Cat and the Claw part 1 on a Sat, then had to wait for Part 2 the following Sat. After that, they started showing them on weekdays, while other places got episodes during the week before Cat and the Claw part2.

The episodes are in the order they were produced, not in order of how they were aired (or even intended to air). That's why some of the two-part episodes (like CAT & THE CLAW and TWO-FACE) are seperated by three or seven episodes.

I was under the impression the two-part episodes were put together by the P.O. number of the first one.

All the 2 part episodes on the set are together.
I remember Cat & The Claw airing first as well, then getting the weekday run about a week or two after.
