This is implying that you are madly, or slightly, in love with adult swim, cause if you weren't, what are you doing here? :)
How did you stumble across AS, channel surfing one late night and were hooked ever since, or hearing it from a friend and became intrigued, or some other way?
I found it by doing my whole science fair project the night before it was due and channel surfing to find if there was anything on to watch. I started watching Home Movies and got hooked. And I've been watching AS ever since. So, what's your story? I'm just curious about how people got into the passion that is adult swim. :p

I don't love Adult Swim, I just use it for the good animated shows they have. I guess you can say Adult Swim is my Animation Daddy. I've been cheating on it with the Anime Network though.
Anyway I had watched AS to watch Birdman, I had been very interested in the concept. After that I slowly started watching more and more of AS comedy and finally ended up watching As anime.

Caught ATHF one night very shortly after our POS cable service provided CN in 2002. Been hooked ever since.

I started watching AS on its first night. I flipped the channels and ran into Pilot Candidate and liked it (and I'm not afraid to say it). Also watched Outlaw Star, Gundum and the rest of the other shows. Those were some good stuff. I'll never forget.

I saw all the ads promoting it, and it looked good. I watched it on that first Sunday, and I loved it.
Of course, I don't love it nearly as much as I used to. Right around when Futurama and Family Guy came is when it started slipping. Not because of Futurama and Family Guy, that's just about the time it starting happening.
I saw the stealths and from that moment on felt like I was part of the secret AS club.
Not that I exactly love it now, just that was why I did. =[

I ride the train and there were adds saying Futurama was moving to Adult Swim, whatever that was. One night I watched Futurama and liked it. I gave it a chance on Adult Swim. Then Family Guy came. Sunday Nights are the best now too.

Some random Thursday night my friends and I were surfing (since we got the Eastern broadcast it was 3 hours earlier over on this side) we caught this strange show about talking food items as soon as Assisted Living Dracula came on I was sold on this whole sensibility and realized I had finally found the chewy nugget center of Cartoon Network.

I was there from day one. I think I found out through comercials, but maybe it was just that I watched CN all day everyday back then.

My friends were constantly talking about Adult Swim. I felt bad cuz I never watched it before, so I decided to one night. In fact, it was May 23, 2004, the night "Baby Blues", "Mission Hill" and "Home Movies" returned. I've been watching Sundays ever since. I also watch the first hour of Saturday nights(The Comedy Hour) because I'm not at all a fan of anime.

The Powerpuff Girls. i was watching that one night and then i saw a "parents stongly cautioned" warning after it ended...so..i stuck around. then i saw it was adult swim, and i had heard about it before so i decided to watch. i watched Futurama, having seen it before and thinking it was sooo cool that is was back, and then Home Movies came on. from then on, i was just totally hooked on Home Movies and Futurama and just started following along with all the other shows.
I thank you, Powerpuff Girls.
The first I heard of Adult Swim was from a former online friend of mine who went by the name "Dyl Man" on and old message board of his. He said he saw news on Planet Namek saying something about a rumor of adult cartoons coming to Cartoon Network. I assumed this was just a rumor and would never really happen.
A year or so later, my mother fell asleep while watching Cartoon Network. I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed when I could have sworn I heard Brak and Zorak's voices. "Is Space Ghost Coast to Coast on?" I wondered. I entered the room and quickly realized it wasn't Space Ghost, but something different.
I noticed a TV-PG rating up in the corner and was surprised how frequently Zorak was saying things like "ass" and "hell," words I didn't hear often on Cartoon Network.
I soon found out this was the block of adult cartoons that Planet Namek had posted news about. So I saw Adult Swim the first night it aired and the first show I saw was The Brak Show.

Skimmed through TV channels on a Thursday midnight. Found a show where this green-afro guy starts kicking someone's ass with jazzy music. Sticked around to watch the ending credits. Amazed at the visuals. Been watching AS for two years ever since...

It was late one night and I was over my aunt's house watching TV when I put on Space Ghost. I thought it was hilarious and whenever I got the chance to stay up I put on late night CN. I still remember the old geezers swimming around in the pool It reminded me of Senior Arobics at the YMCA when I was a little kid when I took lessons there.

i happened to see one of the first commercials for adult swim one night. afterward, i thought: can cartoon network really do that? i first saw adult swim on its second week. i only watched harvey birdman and sealab, so i first mistook adult swim as an old cartoon spoofing block, and even thought they were spoofing anime.

My love for AS started late August 2001. I saw a promo for AS and got interested. When I first tuned in that september night, I wasnt expecting much. Then I saw Home Movies. since then Iv'e been hooked. I saw the whole lineup and the end, bebop was the action frosting to the comedy cake that was the first night of AS. Since then Iv'e tried to watch every AS show at least once. Some shows were awesome, some i didnt agree with, some I thought should be in "other places", and others were just "WTF are you doing AS?"

I turned AS on the very first night it aired and was instantly hooked. The rest is history. :shake:
AS is very much like a woman...
I was lured in by the humor.. (Family Guy & Futurama) and I ended up staying for the action.. (Anime). And now no matter how much attention I pay to AS I don't get my way. =(

I watched it from the first night, as it was programming that promised Space Ghost. Everything else since then was just an added bonus. I started to enjoy some of the anime shows as well. However, with the way it is now, the thread should be "How did you come to 'hate' Adult Swim." Since frankly, it's not as good as it was.

Hello, I'm Nat, and I'm a fan of Adult Swim.
Hello, Nat.
Now that that's out of the way (come on, someone was going to slip that in eventually), how did I get interested? It was Space Ghost and Tenchi. I was a fan of Tenchi from the beginning, and a fan of SGC2C from almost the beginning. I tuned in for those shows when I heard they'd be on AS. While I was there I got interested in Cowboy Bebop, and later InuYasha. Still later came Yu Yu Hakusho back when it was on AS.
I guess I'm the opposite of most everyone else on here. I was attracted by the anime, although I've never managed to work up much of an interest in any series with Gundam in its title. No prejudice, that's just how it worked out. Williams Street, however, never really appealed to me. I've periodically added another anime show to my interests every so often - Trigun, Witch Hunter Robin, Wolf's Rain - but I've never been interested in most of the comedy stuff; hey, my interest in Space Ghost waned about the time AS started, what does that tell you? So now when there's a new anime I'll give it a chance as a matter of course, but I'm still not interested in the comedy stuff. There's still hope, though; this time last year I would have said the same thing about Futurama but now I'm a huge fan of that show. We'll see.

I first heard about Adult Swim back in 2001 when CN started showing the ads. Man I miss the old Adult Swim...
ALL KIDS OUT OF THE POOL! IT'S TIME FOR ADULT SWIM!
Anyone here remember when Adult Swim first began, and they left the shows TV Rating in the top left-hand corner? Ah... Memories...

I've kinda been in "love" with Adult Swim after seeing a TV Guide article about it back in 2001. A new block showing adult cartoons on Cartoon Network, with new Episodes of Space Ghost Coast to Coast and giving series to Harvey Birdman and Brak? What's not to love? But it's been tough love. Although the best type of love is when you can hate something for awhile but realize that you still care for it and come back to it no matter what. The cards still suck though.

Ha, I was just actually thinking about that right before I read this post. I should have made this thread "How did you 'fall in love' with AS, but more importantly, how did you 'fall out of love' with it?" :D

I found AS last year from Inuyasha. I saw ads and was curious. I watched it, and was hooked. I ended up watching the other Action shows, and was hooked.

Well there was always some sexual tension between AS and myself.
:anime: Sorry I couldn't help it, the thread title just looks funny. Anyways I would say that the first thing I "loved" about AS would be Bebop. I saw the first episode and then I was hooked. Since then I've been introduced to Inuyasha, Lupin, and FLCL and have been watching ever since.

When Cowboy Bebop first aired I was sucked into the phonomenom known as Adult Swim... I looked forward to more mature anime titles that I never knew existed like Yu Yu Hakusho, Inu Yasha, and Blue Gender. After Family Guy and Futurama began to air I noticed the Comedy Block and began watching that too. Eventually I got around to watching AS original shows like ATHF. And today, almost 3 years later, I watch both segments when something new is on.

I heard about it somehow and got curious. I went out of town later in the year and watched it on the cable in my hotel room. A couple months after arriving back home, I got cable so I see it.

I originally wanted to see Cowboy Bebop since I had heard so much about it, but while waiting there was nothing else on so I watched the Williams Street shows and was hooked

The first time I saw Home Movies on Adult Swim, I was hooked. It was the funniest animated show I had ever seen. I'd watch it every sunday it came on. It was a creative and a sort of different show. And then they go and cancel it :( . It could have gone for another season, at least.
I would occasionaly watch what came after Home Movies, and soon got hooked on ATHF, and then pretty much the whole block.
My top 3 shows, Futurama, Family Guy, and Home Movies. All canceled, or at least were canceled anyway.

I came upon Adult Swim by sheer happenstance shortly after they began running on Saturday nights. I was surfing channels and saw this "Parents strongly cautioned ... " message. I hung around to see what kind of show would require such a warning and saw ANIME! I've always liked anime but when it was on TV, it was usually at times when I couldn't watch. But here was a whole night of it at a time when I was free to watch it. Yes!! Later I tried the Adult Swim comedies but didn't like them. Generally, I still don't.
Later, when they started running Inuyasha, I got really hooked and looked forward each week to the next episode. But I also liked the other shows around IY. I was still unaware of the animation messageboards and the online anime community, though. I discovered those when AS completed the first 36 episodes of Inuyasha's premiere run and then took it off. I was upset. It had ended at an obvious cliffhanger so there must be more. It occurred to me to try and see if there was any information on the Internet about what happened to Inuyasha. And that's how I discovered places like this. (^_*)

Well, I was recording something on cartoon network and fell asleep. I woke up the next day and watched the tape. I got to watch Space ghost and Harvey birdman and some Aqua teens along with Sea lab and was hooked.
I have not liked all the shows on it though, never cared much for anime or home movies but oh well. The shows I mentioned above along with the Brak Show are the primary reasons that I still keep coming back. Even the reruns have me laughing my butt off.
Plus they got Futurama and Family Guy since I have been watching, so I have seen only pluses. Plus they have these guys :moon: :moon2: . What more do you need?

I was always a huge fan of Space Ghost Coast to Coast, way back before AS existed. Then they stopped showing SGC2C here for quite a while, but finally it was back along with the insane creation of Adult Swim (anyone else remember those dorky ads at the pool?). Eventually I started watching SGC2C again and one night I caught a show called Trigun. Generally, no offense, but I hate most anime. However, I loved Trigun. Absolutely amazing show with a great message without being too preachy. Lots of action, great plot-line, nice animation, and even humor. Ever since then I've been a big fan of AS and quite a few shows they run. More recently I've discovered Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Brilliantly twisted, just my kind of thing!
Freakin' awesome.

I started watching exclusively for Pilot Candidate for Goddess.
Seriously though, my TV has been stuck on CN by default since 1997 when Toonami first aired. I"ll only change it when I specifically want to see something else (Stargate, The Shield) and then flip it back. That being said, I was there for the very first, "All kids out of the pool!" announcement.
I fell in love becuase, for the most part, there's crap on TV, and there's decidedly less crap on AS.
