I've been going through my CN tape collection recently, and boy, did it bring back memories.

So, I decided to cook up this thread so we can sort of reflect on those good ol' days.

But before we start, I just want to add one small note: I do not want this to become a flame war, so please, no sarcastic comments. In this thread, we don't want to focus on CN as it currently stands. Thank you.

Now then, does anybody remember "Mil-Looney-Um?"

I don't remember when the original opening to the "Bugs and Daffy Show" was replaced with the current one, but that's one of the things I always missed (well, when CN used to show "Bugs and Daffy"). Jon posted a video file of the opening not too long ago, it's a great opening.

CN also used to show "The Droopy Show" on Monday mornings, and sometimes I'd stay up for it and be surprised when they didn't show any Droopy cartoons! (There were at least a few shows that comprised completely of Barney Bear shorts.)

Another thing I really liked was the two-hour ACME Hour on Saturdays (for a while it was on in the morning, and another time it was at night, followed by Rocky and Bullwinkle). They showed Hanna-Barbera shorts (i.e. "Huckleberry Hound," I know that was on there once) occasionally on ACME Hour, too.

The Droopy that CN aired was called "Down with Droopy D." and it has Droopy shorts from both MGM and (ugh) Filmation

I also saw my first "Tom and Jerry" there. Also brought back memory of my sister, who watched it for a while

I remember the old opening for "Bugs and Daffy Show". It was kinda cool

and remember watching "Pink Panther" on CN. I always remembered "The Ant and the Aardvark" on CN. It was hilarious

"Toonheads" was my favorite too. I also saw the first "Popeye" there, and that "Popeye" that I saw first was........"Popeye's 20th Anniversary". Shocking, huh?

I have to admit. When I saw "Ballot Box Bunny" both on CN and the "Salute to Mel Blanc" VHS, I was confused at the missing ending, same with "Fresh Hare" on CN and some PD tape.

The Droopy that CN aired was called "Down with Droopy D." and it has Droopy shorts from both MGM and (ugh) FilmationThat was in the 1990s (and, I think, more recently on Boomerang). From 1999 - 2001/2 around 1:30 am on Sunday night/Monday morning there was a show simply called "Droopy." It immediately followed (or was immediately before) "Popeye" -- not "The Popeye Show," just Famous and redrawn Fleischer cartoons in no particular order. "Droopy" was just a mix of non-T&J MGM cartoons, *usually* containing a Droopy cartoon. I don't remember any Filmation shorts on it.

My friend taped some of it, I've always wanted to steal that and his June Bugs tape. And since he is in France this month and his VCRs busted.

The taping of many Bugs & Tweety Shows on ABC and Road Runner cartoons in TQS (the first 3 airing yesterday in this channel, i taped same day, same channel, same month, but he's 5 years ago   ).

Don't forget "Woody Woodpecker and Friends" airing in YTV and the syndicated "Woody Woodpecker Show" version. But i have never a chance to recorded this. :( :( :(

But two of my important memories are the record of one YTV Bugs Bunny's episode (august 11 1998) and the airing of a WB's Halloween Bugs & Daffy episode in 1999 like my birthday's dash (naughty present :D )

That was also shown in the UK. I don't think they ever showed as many pre 48 shorts ever again after they aired it.

I also really liked the old Bugs and Daffy opening. It used animation from a couple of Turner owned shorts like "Tick, Tock, Tuckered", (they used to air this to death) "My Favorite Duck", "Walky Talky Hawky", "Slick Hare" (again, this was aired to death) and "Odor-Able Kitty".

I came late to Cartoon Networks Warner Brothers programing - sometime in 1999, so I don't know about anything earlier than that. I never saw any of the first season of "Toonheads", but I fondly remember & have taped most of the "Bob Clampett Show" episodes. I can't remember "Milloonieum" though I should. I guess it's time to go visit the large stack of tapes I made up to
some time in 2003 when I no longer got the standard cable package anymore.
Was Millooneyum basically the Looney Tunes Show with a lot of pre 1948 cartoons in the mix? I remember taping the 3 hour saturday morning LTS's on SLP before I got the word about loss of image quality.
Remember Daffy Duck's Feather's Day Special? Late Night Black & White? Porky Pig's Superchunk? & of course the Popeye Show? I was heart broken when I found out that my VCR picked up interference while taping Popeye.
Yes, CN did give me some great moments and first viewings of some great WB cartoons.

I didn't start watching Cartoon Network until 2001 when I got DirecTV. My memories include the Bob Clampett Show, Late Night Black & White and Toonheads.

My favorite memory though, is the 2001 edition of June Bugs. A friend of mine taped the entire thing for me and I've got a tradition of watching it every June, as opposed to June Bugs from A-Z that Boomerang runs every year. For those of you that haven't seen it, JB 2001 aired all of the Bugs Bunny cartoons (except the infamous 11:p ) in chronological order. There was commentary before each short and this was right after CN had obtained the rights to 50+ shorts from ABC. Sure some were edited and the commentary was incorrect a few times, but it was cool to see the evolution of Bugs from Porky's Hare Hunt all the way to From Hare to Eternity.

Ah, the good ol' days!:)

These are my fondest CN memories:
- The occasional B&W cartoon (and if it was computer colorized, I turned off the color on my TV)
- The Tex Avery Show (sigh!)
- An isolated moment when I caught an Inki cartoon
- June Bugs (can't remember if it was 2000 or 1999)
- The rare showings of a Frank Tashlin Screen Gem cartoon

I still regret the fact that I never got to see a B&W Popeye...
The Cartoon Network I knew as a kid is as extinct as Disney's animation department.

It's true about Lantz stuff on CN.

Back in 1998 (I think) they used to air the syndicated "Wood Woodpecker" show and I think they aired "I'm Cold" by Avery dozens of time.

My memories of CN include:

June Bugs, which sadly has moved to Boomerang (for those of us who don't get the channel):(

Tex Avery Show

Popeye Show

Acme Hour - I remember they used to air two hours of this show at a time. A great place to tape one-shot WB cartoons and several MGM toons.

I would love to see that (with the CN commentary). I started collecting only last year so my memories of CN are probably not applicable to this "good memories" thread ;)

I believe the first time I ever watched CN was in June 1998 at a hotel in OKC. Wouldn't you just know it...Scooby Doo was the show! I didn't get CN for myself until I got Directv in 2001. I did see a few Bob Clampett shows before it went away, and I sure wish I would've known about Late Night Black & White sooner, I didn't start taping it until 2002. I've got a pretty fair stack of tapes from the days when I'd record Acme Hour, Tom & Jerry, LNB&W, Toonheads, Popeye Show, Tex Avery, and Chuck Jones overnights. Some of them I still haven't watched since the day after I recorded them! I had a project going dubbing those tapes to DVD and compiling them on my hard drive until I had enough of one kind to fill a disc, burning that, and wiping them to make room for more, etc. until I put it aside to dub tapes and burn DVD's for trades and my overtime went boffo at my job.

I taped the majority of June Bugs 2002, and the tapes played constantly in my VCR for nearly two months afterwards! I feel really lucky to have Boomerang now for their occasional marathons, since CN has just about abandoned the shows I really cared about.

June bugs. When that was on it never left the TV for the entire day in my house. It was such a treat the first time my dad stumbled upon it. I also enjoyed "The Tex Avery Show", the little theme song is still in my head, and I remember a weekend last year when "Friz Freelings Looney Looney Bugs Bunny movie" was played in the middle of the afternnoon two days in a row. Good stuff.

I also got CN and Boomerang around 2001 when I got DirecTV. The Bob Clampett Show was still fairly new. There was also Acme Hour, Bugs & Daffy, Late Night B&W, Toonheads, Tom and Jerry, Popeye (not "The Popeye Show"... that came a little later), and The Tex Avery Show.

I'll never forget that night when the Saturday night Acme Hour was pre-empted by Cartoon Theatre and the 2am Acme Hour, which was usually just a repeat of the 8pm show, was filled with extremely rare cartoons including "Abdul the Bulbul Ameer", "Malibu Beach Party", "Russian Rhapsody", "Porky's Midnight Matinee", some Tom and Jerrys with Mammy (this was during that period where CN never aired Mammy T&J cartoons during the daytime), and others. I think I still have that AH on tape someplace. What a night that was!

I sure do miss that 2-hour Acme Hour that used to air Saturday nights! :(

Yeah, CN did it twice too. The second time around they had "My Little Buckeroo" and "Pilgrim Popeye" - man, those were great.

I also remember the days when CN started to air the Nickelodeon cartoons. They aired cartoons unedited that we would see cut nowdays like "Porky's Road Race" and "Porky's Baseball Broadcast." I also remember being very perplexed as to why they aired the redrawn versions of "Fish Tales," "Daffy's Southern Exposure," and others...

I got a tape of Bugs & Daffy shows from way back around 1996. There's a lot of things in there they wouldn't show now...Sweet Sioux, A Jolly Good Furlough, Have You Got Any Castles uncut....and the best things of all: NO DUBBED VERSIONS!!

A couple years ago, I was on a trip to Guadalajara (deep in Mexico) and I caught Inki At The Circus on the local CN. The bad news is that it was dubbed into spanish

Wait a minute. There isn't even any talking in the Inki cartoons, so what could be dubbed into Spanish?

voice overs to translate signs as well as a translation of "That's All Folks!". It's pretty annoying.
