It's this great 1982-1987 British animated show about a ordinary teddybear that was broken then been thrown away like a piece of junk into a dark room, but from outer space a spotted robotic alien being brings the bear to life then gives him powers to become a superhero called "SuperTed".
The bad guys we're Texas Pete, a sterotypical cowboy villain with two sidekicks, a fatso named Bulk and a skeleton named Skeleton and Superted looked like a bear version of "Captain Marvel ( a.k.a. Shazzam)".
Great show! if only it comes here on R1 DVD and if only Cartoon Network should do a new SuperTed show which would be a great comeback for him. It should be an Americanized remake show featuring Steve Buscemi as the voice of Skeleton, Robert " Freddy Krueger" Englund as Texas Pete, Rob Paulson as Spotty and Jeffery Combs from "Re-Animator" and "Star Trek Voyager" as the voice of SuperTed.
What if Superted battled with Underdog? who would win?

I recall SuperTed. The original sereis was produced by Siriol Animation (a Welsh Studio) and the first episodes were shown on the Disney Cahnnel. A later series was produced by Hanna-Barbera.

It was also the very first programme to air on S4C (Sianel Pedwar Cymru, Channel Four Wales), and in fact, it was produced in Welsh.

This is the (rather drab) production endboard in Welsh. No standardisation of endcaps had yet been made, but S4C was clearly mentioned some 7 years before ITV did the same thing with their endboards.
BTW, this menu greeted those tuning in to the start of S4C on Nov 1 '82, promising programmes in Welsh until 9.30pm (note no mention of SuperTed... must have been rolled in with the welcome program):

The pics BTW, are from this page on S4C (http://www.transdiffusion.org/intertel/gallery/wales/).

Yep:) Superted rules! I didn't like the Americanised one at all. The brits/UK have made some real gems and Superted is one of em.

Ooh yeah, I remember Super Ted! I used to like Spotty, his alien sidekick voiced by the late, great Jon Pertwee. (he who played Dr.Who for most of the 70s).
I also remember Super Ted having a 'secret word' that would transform him, but we never got to hear it as it was always whispered or just mouthed silently. Anyone know what it was?!
There are a couple of Super Ted DVDs released in the UK, don't know about plans for the rest of the world.
Ohh yes I remember SuperTed (http://www.toonhound.com/superted.htm), another sadly too often over looked Brit animated classic.
ToonHound (http://www.toonhound.com/aug2003.htm#super) reported a possible new series back in autumn last year although looking at the details its all still a bit fuzzy and the talk of is Ted being given a bit of CGI help and a makeover ... gotta hang tight and wait I guess :)
Man, do I remember this one. A lot of chunks of memory of my childhood included this. We had the rentals from the video store. I don't recall it ever airing on television here though.

I may be remembering incorrectly, but I recall an episode where Bulk became Super-Bulk (or something), and he did it by saying SuperTed's secret magic word...which actually was: "Time to say my secret magic word!"
On another note, anyone remember the "crossing the road safely" public information film with SuperTed, Spotty and Spotty's sister? That was shown for quite some time after the show ended!

Freaky...you brought up both the things I was going to :p
I remember the same ep. Can't remember if they revealed what the magic word was, but I do remember that Bulk couldn't remember the word after he used it on himself which angered Pete.
Also remember the road safety spots (no pun), with Spotty running out from behind a parked car.
