In "A Fish Story" Superman can breath under water but he also has a diving suit suit from Star Labs. When exactly does he need that suit? Or did they just invent it to sell the Deep Dive Superman action figure?

Second option...

Superman can't breathe underwater, but he can hold his breath for a long time. In A Fish Story he wasn't underwater for long but in Two's A Crowd he was under water for a long period of time...so he used it.

He also didn't have time to get it in A Fish Story.

Very good point. At first, I thought the space suit and the underwater suit were cheesy. Then I got into comics, and realized that Superman CAN'T breathe underwater or in space.

That's what's I say... He can't breath under water so he uses it to breath.

And are we talking about breath or breathe? How is it spelled? LOL :D

Maybe they just needed an excuse to make that action figure? Nah, too easy...

Breath is a noun, breathe is a verb.

Superman can't breathe under water becuase he would run out of breath. Heh. Anyways, in the comics he currently working past this by training. He's taking outer space lung exercises with Mongul 2 which will help him breathe in both other space and underwater.

In the cartoon he was depowered some so it makes sense for him to need a little help.

Yeah the Supes in the cartoon isn't as strong as the comics but I like that because we were actually more concerned if he's going to get hurt. Its much more interesting when we see Superman struggle.

...it was just a typo and it didn't let me edit the post, but it's good for everyone else to learn that breathe is the verb and breath is the noun.

I also think it's better if Superman is not overpowered, the way it is in STAS is just right :)

That has never stopped any cartoon from using new equipment... It's called clever marketing. Or maybe it's called corporate greed? I always get those confused!

Bingo. I believe they even went into it a bit in Lois & Clark. It makes sense too, because that beautifull yellow sun just augments the things Clark would already be able to do, (although obviously at a much lower level) if he was just a regular earthling.

Wait a minute. You mean everyone else around here can fly (just a little bit, and really badly)? Am I the only one who can't get airborne?

And now I understand what people are really talking about when they talk about "undressing" people with their eyes. It's that incipient X-ray vision!

I've also just figured out why I get hot and uncomfortable when people glare at me. A little low level heat ray shooting out of their eyes.

:D

Actually, if you wanna get technical, the Superman from the comics and the Superman from the animated series are both the same strength. The Pre-Crisis Superman (The Earth-1 Superman) was a lot stronger than the current Superman. He could move planets out of orbit, where as the new Superman doesn't come close to doing that. In the animated series you see Superman struggling from catching a falling airplane, but in the comics, you see the same thing. I have a comic where Superman catches a stone Gargoyle and he says "Ooommphh!" The comics Superman (the current one) CAN'T do everthing like the Earth-1 Superman, or the Super Friends Superman. The Earth-1 Superman was the same strength as the Super Friends Superman and the Christopher Reeve Superman. But as for the animated Superman, he's closer in strength to the current comics Superman. We can blame all of the confusion on the CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS comics. But hey, I'm glad the Crisis happened, because it is better to have Superman be closer to human strength...sure he's still very, very strong, and only Kryptonite can kill him, but he's still not infinitly powerful like the Earth-1 Superman was, that's what makes his character more interesting than the Pre-Crisis Superman, he's got to have a challenge without making kryptonite show up all the time, as was the case all the time in the old comics, which was kind of corny.
