Any Donald Duck fans? I had so much to talk about Donald that instead of bringing up seperate threads,I figured I'd make a thread about Donald in general.
First off for discussion,I wanna discuss a Donald Duck short I've grown to like. One from the newer shorts, "Donalds Goofy World". This one aired on the episode "Gone Goofy" on the House of Mouse, for those who aren't familar with it.
This short features Donald getting pissed at Goofy for being Goofy, and after a bump on the head,he started to go into a dream world where everyone literally becomes Goofy. My favorite parts of the short included Goofy spoofing all the pop culture, especially when he impersonates the characters from hit shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer,Seinfeld ("what's up with Donald's house,it looks like a boat, but it isn't one...*audience member* Boo!:D )and I Love Lucy.
You gotta laugh at poor Donald when he encounters the forest animals all laughing like Goofy. A very good Donald short indeed. Probably one of the better newer shorts I've seen.
Also,in news,as we all know,Donald is set to get his start on the Walk of Fame in 2005. Congrats Donald. It's about time he gets one. Should've got one a long time ago.
Feel free to discuss.

I loved "Donald's Goofy World" as well. I cracked up when Donald was flipping through the channels and got to "Goofy's Goof Tracks". That was great. :D
I have much I'd like to discuss about Donald but unfortunately I've got to get ready for work. I just had to get that "Goofy's Goof Tracks" thing off my chest. I shall return.

I myself enjoy "Donald's Goofy World" it was good enough for theatrical release! But my favorite Donald cartoon, by far is "Der Fueher's Face" (so de heil, heil, right in Der Fueher's Face!).
O.K, after 3 people said they like it, I'll probably get shouted at, but this is my honest opinion. I HATED "Donald's Goofy World". Argh! I just can't stand it! Goofy is just so out of character in most of the new shorts. Why does he have to be so annoying all the time? He wasn't annoying in the classic shorts. His "hyucks" seem too pronounced somehow and he seems very self aware of himself as being goofy - as if he's out to deliberately annoy people. So here we have a cartoon where he can't put up Donald's door (which he fails to achieve in an uncharacteristic way) and Donald winds up dreaming everyone is Goofy. After that it's just Donald running into all the other Disney characters and a load of other stuff with the hyucking, stupid, ugly Mouseworks version of Goofy's face on it. O.K, end of rant (I just hate that cartoon so much!)
Anyway, I'm a huge Donald fan. I enjoy most of his classic shorts. Infact there even some really good ones which show how successful the pairing of Donald and Goofy can be. In the shorts "No Sail" and "Crazy with the Heat" it's great to see Donald's frustration at being in a terrible situation (stranded at sea or lost in desert) and then being stuck with Goofy!
I wish that Disney had made more shorts which placed Donald with the aracuan and the three caballeros characters back in the 40s. I think that there was a lot of unrealised potential in those characters (as far as animation is concerned, as they appeared in the comics) which could have led to some wonderful shorts.

It's all good mac,we all have our own different tastes.
And as for Da Fuhrer's Face, heh,I saw that one. That was interesting. It captured the darkest spirit of World War 2,that's for sure.

Donald Duck is definitely my favorite character in "The House of Mouse". I love the short " where Donald dreams that everything is Goofy. My favorite part is definitely the part when all the animals are laughing like Goofy. I also like the short where he pretends to remember that he was supposed to take Dazy on a Valentine's Day picnic. I have actually never seen the Disney classic shows. Well, I probably have. I just don't remember any of them. I wish I could see them though, but I can never find them on TV.

What happens in this short from beginning to end? Anyone mind telling me?Sure, I’ll write a summary for you. BTW, if you want to see some screen shots from it, send me a PM.
It starts off with a paint brush painting wildlife scene in Brazil and a song about Brazil playing. So plants and birds are being painted and there’s this one flower that’s painted (with two yellow flower petals) and a bee flies into it. The flower then turns into Donald and the bee is bouncing around inside Donald and it finally escapes. Donald is confused and then the paint brush comes into the scene again and starts painting the black colors of Jose (the tie, hat, and umbrella). Donald takes a bit of the black paint and has fun with it by drawing his own stick figure kind of drawing to the side, then the brush hits him. Donald comes back mad, but then we see Jose with more contours lines and the yellow areas colored (Jose’s eye is also following where the brush is going) and Donald is curious, "what’s this? A parrot?’ The paint brush then finishes painting Jose (I like this scene because Jose looks like he’s so happy to be alive), he twirls his umbrella and gives Donald his card. Donald mispronounces Jose’s name, the city and country on the card and Jose corrects him. In Portuguese, Jose asks for Donald’s card, Donald gives him one, Jose recognizes Donald’s name and is happy to meet him. He even does his own impression of Donald being angry jumping up and down which I think is very cute. So Jose is saying a whole bunch of stuff to Donald in Portuguese to which Donald pulls out a bunch of translation books to understand him. When Jose finishes, he says "Or, as you Americans say, let’s go see the town."
So Donald walks with Jose and Jose says he will show Donald the land of the samba. Donald asks "what’s samba?" So music starts playing, Jose dances a bit, and plays the flute with his umbrella. He then takes Donald’s hat and plays the accordion with it. Donald tries to play the flute with Jose’s umbrella, but it doesn’t work and he gets frustrated with it. Jose takes the umbrella back and plays guitar with it. They dance along and walk down some steps that the paint brush in painting in front of them, they come to a café and site at the table outside. There’s a bottle of wine and Donald thinks it’s soda pop. Jose says that it’s cachaça, pours it into their glasses and says something in Portuguese. Donald takes a drink, and in the typical cartoon reaction, fire comes out of Donald mouth. Jose uses this fire to light his cigar and thanks Donald. Donald get’s the hiccups and a beat starts playing. Jose says "Donald, now you have the beat of the samba," and he taps an a case of matches along with the beat. That’s the last we see of Jose when the paint brush comes in and paints some instruments playing a samba beat. Next, we see the silhouette of Donald and some lady through a window of a club dancing the samba. "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Samba!" Donald says. The song from the beginning of the cartoon starts playing again and that’s the end.
Hope that summary helped you out.

Well, I got my copy of Saludos Amigos at Toys R Us. But deepdiscountdvd.com has it for $13.80 if you want to buy it there: http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=BVD019602
I got the Jose avatar from The Three Caballeros when Donald opens the Brazil book. I took the screen shot myself.
Speaking of Saludos Amigos, and since this is a Donald Duck thread, I like the short in the movie called "Lake Titicaca." The background music that plays is really soothing. But I mostly like the part where Donald is riding on a lama on a bridge that's up in the mountains. The bridge falls apart and Donald is holding of for dear life with the lama sitting on top of him. Then the narrator says "...and above all, one should never lose one's temper," to which Donald shouts "SHUT UP!" I really laughed out loud at that part.
Yeah, I'm a bit of a Donald fan m'self.
The suprising thing is, I never really liked him until I played 'Kingdom Hearts'. His character kinda grew on me from there, and since then I've been a fan. :) I don't really remember too many of the classic cartoons he was in, but I did like the 'House of Mouse' episode where he was trying to get rid of this one black-and-white 'toon character... that one was SO funny and never ceases to make me laugh every time I see it. XD

Yeah,I started to like him after Kingdom Hearts, too. But it wasn't until I saw The Three Caballeros, that I was reintroduced to a lovable character who I forgot I liked. :)
kalmadolly: I've been skeptical in seeing that short. I think I'll wait until I buy Salduos Amigos before I watch it. :)
Next short up for discussion,"Soup's On". This is the one where the nephews trick Donald into thinking he's died (the setting is in the forest). I haven't seen this one in ages. I've been trying to download it from WinMX,with no success. I wish there was a place where you could download shorts. Anyways,I love the end where it shows Donald as a devil and he chases after his nephews. :)
