View Full Version : Some DBZ ponderings

1. Isn't it weird that there hasn't been a super Saiya-Jin in 1000 years, but all of the sudden there are two? Then when the halfbreeds get involved it becomes an even larger club.
2. With all the food those Saiya-jins eat I bet they clog the toilet nightly. No wonder Chi-chi is so gripey.
3. Where do Goku and Chi-chi get there money to live on? Are they still living off the Butoden(sp?) winnings?

Well, with the halfbreeds, it's just easier for them to do. I'm not really sure of all the specifics, but I read somewhere that SSJ is much easier to attain for half Saiya-Jins. However, I'm not certain about this.

Chi-chi's father's name is Ox King. Again, I'm not positive, but if he is actually a king, can we assume that they are mooching off of him?

Well, DBZ was supposed to end with Freeza and Goku's death, but it was continued. Toriyama pretty much threw the 1,000 year thing away, but for some reason the dub has kep it.
2. With all the food those Saiya-jins eat I bet they clog the toilet nightly. No wonder Chi-chi is so gripey.
I'm still wondering how they are paying for most of it, since they're pretty much poor.
3. Where do Goku and Chi-chi get there money to live on? Are they still living off the Butoden(sp?) winnings?
Nope, as I said, they're pretty much poor.

I've been thinking of this for SO long it's not even funny!! It was so weird that all of a sudden ANY saiyan could be a super saiyan, I thought. But after watching the show for a while and looking at everyone's progress/power levels, I think the only reason there hasn't been a super saiyan in so long is because no one could do it. I think Saiyans are just blessed with this unbelievable power that can be tapped (as I believe everyone has, just not as high a level as that of a Saiyan's). All try, some can, some can't. Saiyan's were all powerful as it is, in the world they lived in. THey didn't really purely NEED to ascend.
And I think it's fitting how all the Saiyans on Earth have ascended because they all had Goku as a guide to go by. He made it because he knew he had to and wanted to, since he had to stop Frieza at all costs. So he just....did! And then, everyone else had him as an example, so to speak, how the power isn't as difficult to tap as centuries of morons on Vegeta thought.

I just figure they're mooching off The Ox King too. They don't seem to need money for all that much, except school, so I figure they thought that could slide.

Could one reason be that all of the Super Saiyans now don't have their tails? I'm not going to pretend to know for sure or not, but none of the SSJs that I've seen have their tails. Maybe that could mean something?

In GT, you need a tail to achieve SSJ4. But GT is anime only. I heard that Toriyama didn't want the tails to play a part in becoming SSJ

Gohan reached SSJ young because he was a half-breed. But he reached it at 10 years old (Not 11, English dubbers). But, since Goten and Trunks were born after their fathers turn SSJ, it was easier for them to turn SSJ since they had the genes of turning Super Saiya-jn in them. Gohan didn't, because Goku wasn't a Super Saiya-jin before Gohan was born.
And yes, the rage is a major factor of the passing to SSJ.

I don't think being a half-breed was why Gohan could achieve it. He had the power level, but also the rage- he couldn't achieve it so he couldn't help his friends. Rage is the key factor for Saiya-jins with non-SSJ parents to become SSJ.
Goku- Rage at Kurrin's death and that he couldn't beat Frieza
Vegeta- Rage that he couldn't achieve it, which meant a lower class Saiya-jin (Goku) had surpassed him
Mirai No Trunks- Rage that 17 and 18 had killed Gohan
Gohan- Rage that he couldn't achieve it to help his friends

Actually, being a half-breed does make Gohan achieve SSJ levels faster. In fact, back in the Saiya-jin saga, Nappa said he that he wanted to populate the earth with offspring. Then Bejita asked him why he would do that when his offspring would become stronger them him in a short time. Then Nappa said nothing.
But that should prove that half-breeds are stronger.

True, half-breeds are stronger. There's no disputing that.
I think I should re-phrase what I said in my earlier post. What I meant was that it wasn't just his power that allowed Gohan to achieve SSJ.

Gohan has the potential to be the strongest but he didn't try to release his true power. A fault on his part.

Well, he does get the Chou power up later on which brings out his full potential. But he didn't train much after he defeated Cell. Gohan is a fighter who trains only if he has a reason to.

That sounds plausible, look at the four minute mile. Once that one guy ran one, a lot of people started doing it. But it was though impossible before he did it.

Yeah, which is why he fell so far behind. He can't even transform into to his SSJ2 stage without geting really mad, even useing the Kaioshin upgrade he wasn't as strong as a full powered SSJ3 Goku.

But he did it at the World Tournament, right before getting attacked by Babbidi's lackeys...

That's true. Kibit said "Turn into a Super Saiya-jin". Gohan spends along time debating what to do, and finally says "Ok, I will. But I'll take it a level beyond SSJ". He then transforms into SSJ2

No......I think that was still the SSJ1 stage, but with Teen Gohan I can't really tell. I don't think Gohan would of had trouble with turning SSJ2 while in Babbidi's space ship if he could do it by will.

So why would he say "A level beyond SSJ" unless it was SSJ2? If he had transformed into SSJ, he would have just said "Ok, I will"

I read that telling the difference between SSJ1 and SSJ2 is the blue electricity that appears. That is a sign of SSJ2.
But I understand how it's hard with Teen Gohan. There were points I was unsure of myself.

Actually, after Gohan transformed he said " Is this good enough? or do you want me to go beyond this."

Yes, but there have been times that they were in SSJ1 mode and still shot out electricity, but I think it was just a mistake by the animators.

And then the ring was forced into the air by the power radiating off of Gohan. I think that was showing that he hit SSJ2.

That or his nomal SSJ power radiating off him. After all, he might of got much weaker, but he can still destroy planets if he wanted to.

Well, I'm going by the manga. In the manga, he says "Ok, I will. But I'll take it a level beyond SSJ". A shocked Kibit says "Beyond SSJ?". Gohan then turns SSJ2 and is then grabbed by Babi-di's minions.

How did you hear it? They didn't show an episode today, and they haven't released the video/DVD after yesterday's ep. I'd really like to hear how he sounds.

indeed, it is part of saiyan folklore that hybrids possess even more power than purebreds. thus, that's why gohan is the one able to defeat perfect cell (not even gokou could do it), why gohan is also able to achieve the "mystic" saiyan stage later on when fighting boo, and why trunks is the one who finally destroys androids 17 and 18 when he returns to his future.

1. They're getting their money from Chi-Chi's father and winnings from the last budoukais.
2. I agree.
3. Nightwing has the idea. Also, all the saiyajins that achieved super saiyajin had totally different life styles than the ones on planet Vejita. Think about it.
And Goten and Trunks' ability to turn SSj is just bull****.
Also, electricity does not indicate SSj2.

Well, thats how it would seem to be. After all, we never see when they first turn SSJ, so I would also assume that they were born with it.

My roommate had the theory that when Goten was concieved Goku and Gohan were staying in their SSJ forms (this was right before the Cell Games). This being the case, he figured that because Goku was actually a SSJ at the time, this helped to make it so Goten could do it at so early an age.

Most likely it happened during that episode with Lime on it. I mean, why else would they send Gohan out to get food when Goku can catch it himself.;)
