No I'm not joking, such a thing does exist. It's not really official manga it's under thier Cine-Manga subline of books, meaning essentialy the book is designed like a manga book but the pages contain screens from the episodes and the bubbles contain the dialouge...

Cool. First with Star Trek, how a manga about it (it's in the time range of Star Trek: The Next Generation) is being made, now this. This could be good for people that are anime fans and like the shows on Adult Swim.

Doubtful. Cine-Manga are nothing more than screenshots directly taken from the shows and put into a book with text. There is nothing "manga" or "anime" about this release to get such fans interested.

I serious wonder wonder how well this will translate to the printed page. How they are going to handle cutaway and awkwardly drawn scenes alone boggles the mind. I guess I'll have to atleast pick up volume one when it comes out and see how it flows.

Yup, a manga briefly based on Courtney Love, done by Yazawa Ai. It's called "Princess Ai". I want to buy it, because I am a Yazawa Ai whore. And I really don't have anything against Ms. Love.

I don't really see the big deal about a Family Guy cine-manga. It's weird, yea, but why even care? Tokyo Pop does a lot of weird stuff.

"Cine-Manga" otherwise known in Japan as "mooks" (movie books).
It's not a new concept; it's been popular in Japan for years.

That won't be a cine-manga. It'll be a manga titled "Princess Ai." (BTW, Ai = love.)

Courtney Love will provide the concepts, another guy Misaho Kujiradou will help with the scripts, and mangaka Ai Yazawa (another "Love," get it?) will draw it, with DJ Mily as creative director (people suspect that's just Stu Levy's pseudonym so that people won't automatically trash whatever project he's involved in).

I think Cine-Manga is an interesting idea, but I don't see the point of getting FG version of it, especially with how AS airs it so much, and the new episodes coming soon.. It's basically just the episode on paper if I am getting this right, so.. I think it would really only benefit shows that aren't on DVD, and aren't being shown anymore..

Maybe see some Clone high cine-manga? I think that would be cool..

not only is kind of gratuitious, but how well is stuff like the chicken fight and the "used to such good friends" cut away gonna work when done as at of screen caps and speech bubbles.

stuff like Futurama, I could see working as cinemanga. Family Guy... I'm not sold on it atleast.
