Who here has seen David Lynch's new movie? It's hard to find, as it is in limited release right now. I had to drive last night to South Minneapolis just to see it, and I thought it was worth it! Very bizzare movie, more unusual than his past movies. It doesn't slap you across the face and say, THIS IS THE PLOT and it doesn't advance in the story line the way his past movies did. It's more like watching a filmed version of a dream, and there is quite a bit of meaning to extract from the movie. Not for somebody who isn't already familiar with Lynch, that's for sure. Don't make Mulholland Drive your first David Lynch movie. Over all, I loved it. I will either go and see it again once it gets more of a wide release (and comes closer to home) or I will be buying the DVD the day it comes out, because this one is worth repeated viewings. I think it's a masterpiece.

More unusual than Lost Highway?

I haven't had a chance to go see MD yet, but I'm hoping to soon.

Dreamlike atmosphere + lesbianism = must-see film for me.

Topless lesbianism nonetheless. :D

I saw a preview screening. Good movie, thought I had the urge to speak cryptically in Spanish for the rest of the night.

Yes, more bizzare than Lost Highway.

The color blue shows up alot in this movie, as does the common theme of a blue key. I have a theory as to what it means, but I don't want to give away any spoilers! If anybody else has a theory, I'd like to hear it!

I saw the movie earlier today and at first I was like "eh,ok" but then it went on and on and I got into it. There were some things I didn't get besides the obvious key and box thing:

I don't understand the whole thing with the homeless guy and even the scene in the beginning where the guy talks about having a dream and ends up fainting (dying?) when he sees the homeless man. Another thing is the "Silencio" scene (maybe the audition was for the play that she saw performed?) what was that? And The Cowboy?? Umm.... anyone?

Keep in mind that this is my first David Lynch movie (never saw the Twin Peaks TV show) so I apologize if I don't get what might be considered obvious things.

This movie was horrible. I have yet to hear a convincing explanation as to why a bizarre movie like this is in any way a good idea, let alone a great one.
