It was a pretty okay episode. Sealab still feels rather gimmicky and trying to have too much of a plot, but there were some good TV parodies at least. Namley the Brak Show, Will and Grace, and the Grizzlebee parodies. Spacelab was pretty eh, but at least it was funny in parts. I guess that's all you can expect from Sealab right?

Oh, and the Adult Swim card parodies were funny too. They should of had an anime joke in they're somewhere. You know, like "Sexuyasha" or something like that.

Okay... NOT a good way to start out Sealab. It should have concentrated more on developing the Shanks character instead of a random strewn line of jokes. Sure it had some good parts (like Hesh Prince, Spacelab, adn of course the G.I. Joe knockoffs), but I didn't need the pornography or the 'penis/vagina' misunderstanding or even Stormy boobies.

Crap. The only thing this episode was missing was a canned laugh track to prompt me when to laugh. An absolute and utter failed attempt at "something" that wasted too much of my time.

I chuckled at the Will & Grace thing...and maybe at the first fake Adult Swim card. Everything else felt forced and unfunny, like Sealab has been recently.

So, I heard somewhere that there were new Sealab's. It was just in passing. I can't beleive [as] would advertise something so sparsely, especially when they're expecting it to pick up the slack on Saturdays.

So after a sizable layover, Sealab 2021 is back. One hopes after the layover the creativity and actual geniune hilarity that characterised Season 1 would be back in force instead of the redundant, meanspirited laziness that took over soon after. Even I was hoping for the best.

Serves me right for being optimistic.

Sealab managed to be less funny than it has been before and about ninety times more annoying. Even a "zany" attempt to bite the hand that fed them sucked (If you wanna attack something on [as], Brak and the cards are uh, about a year past their relevancy) I didn't laugh once. Somehow even the familiar jokes (Debbie's sluttiess, Grizzlebee's, Stormy's stupidity) seem way past tired in much the same way gum loses all flavour after about a half-hour.

And this is the kinda show HBAAL is wishing it was. Heaven help us all.

This was a blighted, laughless wasteland that causes children to cry, causes weary refugees to walk barefoot with bleeding feet over thumbtacks in a snowstorm but most of all causes good men of conscience everywhere to wave their fist to the sky and curse God for this awful, failed attempt at comedy.

Well, that was just wretched. With an air of glibly hinted at guilt in my thoughts I'll admit that I laughed at the very first parts of the otherwise senselessly drawn out Penis/Vagina segment, but almost nothing else. It was awful and I wish someone would let Thompson and Reed in on the fact that they're show isn't funny, was only modestly funny for a short while a long time ago, and they should stop wasting fifteen-minute segments of people's lives.

I haven't felt like I was deserved apology from people in the entertainment industry this much since I sat through almost two-thirds of I am Sam, and I'm still holding a grudge against Sean Penn...

What about the "real" episode of Sealab where they just used an old 2020 script?I liked that episode, it was conceptually funny (made funnier by the fact that so many people didn't understand it at all). Unlike this one, which in the end really wasn't funny at all.

While I don't have the same intense feelings concerning this episode as the rest of you seem to, I will admit I felt it was painfully average. The main problem I had is that the second half was pretty much the first half with new dialogue, determined to stretch the episode for the full eleven minutes. Many of the jokes simply didn't need to be repeated. I didn't hate it, but it was just there, and unless I see a repeat of it anytime soon, I'll most likely forget about it entirely.

that wasn't to good which is sad since Sealab used to be good :( the best part was at the start when chairdude signed the package with space stormys name and then we saw the spacelab guys are just like the sealab ones :) but the rest was mostly boring and I guess you guys was right Shanks is there to stay :(

I'm not that keen sometimes in memory.Ok episodes like the episode which featured a spoof of mutant hesh mimicing the incrediblel hulk as he walked into the sunset) Bizarro(superman spoof)Tinfins(jaws,aliens) and Squishface(Transformers, Aliens) use spoofing and parody to a degree where it was the mere icing on the cake, not the cake itself, like this episode did, they are trying too hard to just parody things which comes off a bit cynical....I mean what ever happen ed to whacked out plots that came out of left field like Alvis Day? Or even the sealab 2020 which was based on the concept that it was baisicly just like an old Sealab cartoon, granted it was only fuinny if you watched the old show, but it was fairly interesting. You see Sealabwas baised on the philosophy of "an idiot full of sound and fury signifying nothing" it sounded important, it even looked important, but the situation and characters were silly(Stimutax and Red dawn can be used as an example)

I was a bit tempted to hve my opinion changed by your opinions,btu i'm holding my ground on this one:

I liked it! :D I laughed alot. It's back to random jokes that you have to pay some attention to to get. Gotta keep up and watch your step along the way to fully enjoy it. A few points I didn't like but they did those in a way that wasn't overly bad. All in all I enjoyed this episode alot,much better then most of the last season. Though I still hate the fact Murphey's gone and I really do not like this new captin,I still liked this episode! Not the best,but certainly not the worse. Remember back,the good ones back in the day were just as random and fast paced as this was. Come on people lighten up it's comedy :D

of course random humor is probably by far my favorite kind. like in SpaceGhostC2C and FamilyGuy and AquaTeenHungerForce,to name a few from thise network :D

The internet can sometimes be a good place to do some much needed blowing off some steam but in a thread where we're all getting worked up over how Sealab has lost it or still has it its Not a good idea.

Try to watch something funny or post in a light-hearted thread. Maybe you should start a joke thread or something in the Cafe Toon Zone forum.





As for the new Sealab, it started off good, buts that only my opinion.

The Penis/Vagina joke went on too long and made Quinn, the smart one, look stupid. Granted it was because of the time delay, but I hope this is a one time deal and he doesn't go downhill like the rest.

NEVER cared for Debby being an actual slut. Aside from the ep with her wanting to have a baby, and that was supposedly just for the baby (although the ending credits...) and never mentioned actually wanting to have sex for the kid (although Quinn did turn her on and that whole wet suit crack)-

-okay, maybe she was loose like everyone else from the get-go, but it seemed to make fun of her being accused of being a slut or something, but THEN the joke was they were right, and its so done its lost what little there was funny of being slut, if any, except myabe some non-funny shock value.



The ending was predictable, everyone dies.

What was the DEAL with spoofing Brak being annoying? The general consensus HERE was that it wasn't doing all that good, but SUPPOSEDLY the ratings for it was in the top 3 up until its cancelment, and I think once or more recently.

Bralk eventually became annoying in some regards and a side character in his own show, but I thought it was getting better in the last season. You had the one with Dad and his spy friend, which actually made some sort of sense if you followed, and even had decent looking animation in the end.

Then again, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, especially when quality is purely subjective. And that was making fun of what I consider one of Brak's faults, of being annoying when trying to be friendly, which worked in Cartoon Planet but not as a basis for a show.

ALTHOUGH making fun of Brak by making him look an inexperienced child's drawing was stupid since Sealab's and EVERY other WS show except HB:AAL has limited animation, and HB was done by someone else. What, did the Sealab people not have the rights to directly use him?

I've never watched this show because of how much of an insult it is to the original Sealab2021. This show is so freakin horrible and tonight shows how horrible it is yet again. Even Brak Show and Aqua Teen Hunger force at least make sense and aren't as stupid. Geez, how does this show get such good ratings?

It wasn't great by any means, but I didn't find it particularly horrible either. There were a few good bits, like that coma Grizzlebee's commercial, the Spacelab crew being the same as the Sealab crew except with the races reversed, the porn bloopers and a few of the parodies. It was far from the best Sealab ever, but I'd take it over Fusebox any day of the week.
