I am wondering if anyone noticed the way Kaorin was blushing whenever she is near Sakaki. I get the impression that she might have more feeling for Sakaki than just friend or am I misreading the whole thing.

No, you're correct, Kaorin is a big honkin' lesbian...

C'mon, she just thinks Sakaki is really, REALLY "cool." ;)

At first I thought this thread was going to be about people falling in love with Azumanga Daioh characters. Needless to say I have heaved a sigh of relief.

Right, not about falling in love with Azumanga characters.

*hides Sakaki-chan body pillow* [/lame joke]

Yeah, Kaorin's a lesbian, atleast for Sakaki. It becomes quite apparent during the New Year's Dream episode.

Oh yeh, everyone besides Sakaki has noticed it.

Even though it seems like it, I just always consider it as hero worship... REALLY extreme hero worship.

Oh come on, the white horse in the dream episode is proof itself...

that and the square dancing...

That would make sense since Kaorin was "scared off" by Sakaki in episode 1.

I thought it was obvious in the first episode she gets really jealous of the picture with Tomo sleeping draped over her.

Now, I'm really wanting to get the first dvd.

The thing is, muy guapo men like me aren't supposed to be seen watching these kind of things.

Then again....who says I have to be seen. ::shifty eyes::

I look at the whole thing as Burns & Smithers in The Simpsons. Many times the creators/writers have described Smithers NOT as a homosexual but as a Burns-sexual, in that he only takes after Burns. Granted, the strictest definition of that WOULD mean he's a homosexual, but you never really see Smithers (or Kaorin, for that matter) going after anybody different.

So in conclusion, sort of, sort of not. I WOULD say it's extreme hero worship, but I don't recall getting giddy every time a "cool" person in high school was near me. If anything, I was annoyed that they were cool, if that makes any sense.

Yeah, Kaorin's a lesbian, atleast for Sakaki. It becomes quite apparent during the New Year's Dream episode.I think this would pretty much sup up everyone's opinions on Kaorin's feelings for Ms. Sasaki.

"Please... call me Kaori..."

God, that ep was so messed up, especially Osaka's dream.

that and the square dancing...
OMG, that was hilarious. Yup, that also should clear up any confusion.

I guess you forgot the ep with John Waters. Smithers catches John with the Simpsons and exclaims something about, "so this is your sick grandma!" and leaves in a huff. Smithers' homosexuality is more than implied.

Uh, in any case, Kaorin's definitely got the hots for Ms. Sakaki, lesbian or otherwise. I think next DVD vol. has some more Sakaki vs. Kagura so there's sure to be more Kaorin stuff goin' on (at least from what I got from the next ep preview).

Heh...the best part of that episode was not when she danced with Sakaki, but who she danced with afterwards...

Eh, Azumanga is a universal exception to that rule. I mostly buy manly, giant robot and space anime like Big O, Dai-Guard, and Outlaw Star, or "classic" anime like Lupin, Cyborg 009, and whatnot. However, Azumanga makes me giddly like a schoolgirl. It just can't be explained. I try to play it off, saying I like the hot high school girls, but I know deep inside I love the plot just as much.

And Kimura. Kimura makes everything better.

I, on the other hand, buy a lot of girly, "fruity" anime, so I could care whether someone thinks watching Azumanga is unmanly.

A wiseman once said:

The man that mocks another better be a good head taller before he opens his mouth.

Also why does it matter? I've watched the powerpuff girls infront of other people, I've played FFX-2 infront of other people, I've even gone as far as watching Cardcaptor Sakura infront of other people, and ya know what, no one bothers me about it...

because they simply don't give a damn...it's all in your head...

Yeah, and you're one of those who got themselves beat up during P.E. class too. Kidding! :D

Azumanga Daioh isn't fruity. It's Metrosexual.:D

when you're 6'2" 200lbs, people usually think twice about starting any crap with you. ;) I catch crap from other otaku on my tastes though sometimes.

Oh, Azumanga wasn't the anime I was calling fruity anyway. Like I said in the subject, I bought Gravitation vol.1 w/ box, and that is straight up shonen-ai.

But calling Azumanga metrosexual is a pretty amusing way of justifing it. :D

No, there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of that.

Well, except maybe playing FFX-2. But that's not because it's girly, but because it's just really bad. :p

Azumanga Daioh isn't fruity. It's Metrosexual.:DI've been seeing that word come up, and I must ask What the hell is a Metrosexual? Is it a person that goes all over like a metro train or bus? Is it a stuck up aristocratic attitude like a sterotypical person who lives in a high priced metropolitain area? What the hell does it mean?

and FFX-2 is far from bad....

Eh? A new slang term that caught you off guard? Well, what I learned from fighting game sites, "metrosexual" is used to describe a narcisstic handsome man who is dressed very well. Some may call them gay but they're really hetrosexual.

The term even goes beyond that. One may not look metrosexual (I'm quite frumpy,) but their taste in entertainment and such might be (I watch shoujo and the occaisional shonen-ai in addition to shonen, and I'm very picky about how my mochas are prepared and who prepares them.) As such, a lot of the girls @ the local anime club called me metrosexual, in as much as I've dated 2 of them, but at points they'd like more "manly" anime than I do.

Back on topic, I like the concept of Kaorin as a Sakaki-sexual. She clearly has no romantic interest in any other women but Sakaki, so it fits.

Well... at least Kaorin's infatuation with Sakaki is not as a bad as Tomoyo's infatuation with Sakura.

My first impression with Kaorin was that of a big honkin' lesbian. But as time went on, it became clear that she's infatuated with one and only one person in the universe. I don't think her feelings toward Sakaki are any more sexual than Sakaki's feelings toward cute animals. Sakaki likes to pet and cuddle kitties, Kaorin would like to be around Sakaki and probably cling to her leg or something cartoony like that.

But, my infatuation with Sakaki? Totally sexual.

I love Ms. Sakaki! She's cute, quiet, and she loves stuffed animals and cats! Just like me, except the cute part.

I just saw the dream episode. That totally proves that there is a romantic interest that Kaorin has with Sakaki no matter how much anyone tries to prove wrong.

I thought that was hilarious how everone had Chiyo-chan in their dream. It was also funny how Sakaki's temperary cat ended up beign Chiyo's dad. I seriously did not expect that. But then again, this is Azumanga Daioh.:)

So I guess that the animaters thought she was sakaki-sexual too  . So yeah, she definatly DOES have romantic intrests in Sakaki (in the anime atleast).
