What is it about the Pink Panther animated feline character you more admire ?

Compared with other animated felines like Garfield, what are the unique qualities of the silent, pink colored Pink Panther cat character, that you most admire ?

His coolness, his cleverness, the fact that he doesn't speak, his love for the color pink, and the fact that his cartoon was one of the only funny cartoons in the 1970s.

For me the Pink Panther was a regular on TV back when Garfield was unknown so I've always had a soft spot for him. Plus he's a panther and he's pink, how can that be anything but good :D

Personally the fact that he was silent made a huge difference (he should never speak just like Wile & Tom) and being silent the animators had to use his situation and expressions (especially the eyebrows) to convey what he was thinking of in what was quite often a very minimal 'set'. The thought bubbles were an amusing touch and then of course there was Pink's walk, step, step, half a step, etc to keep in time with his theme tune which I loved then and still do now.

Characterwise, Pink was a nice mix and easy to feel sympathy for, sometimes having the upper hand through sly cool or kindness but more often that not coming to grief at the hands of a bigger beast or one of the many the little guys with the big nose.

Pink Panther shows from the 'early days' are regularly on Boomerang UK and bring back many happy memories especially the ones with the Inspector shorts in the middle which are little classics in their own right, the later ones with Crane / Aadvark (I think it was aardvark) just didn't cut the mustard for me.

I dont know about everybody else but I liked the newer one that he talked better, thats what I think. And what I admire about him was he was pink and he pulled it off so well.
