Smigel is writing Green Lantern as a comedy, with Adam Sandler signed and such for the starring role. It'll break in a day or two. Probably sooner now.

I searched the imdb for Green Lantern and I discovered that there really is a guy named John Stewart who calls himself the Green Lantern, but, no movie.

 :mad:Never going to happen, WB would be the studio making it and even they realize that make GL into a comedy would be a bad move which would screw any future use of the property and might hurt the comics.

Don't know about Adam as Kyle though, might be interesting.

Well, I seriously doubt theyre even going to make a GL movie, much less one this ridiculous sounding.

I don't know. Sandler as a GL could work, although I see him as more of a Guy Gardner than Kyle Rayner.

But if, if, IF this rumor is true (which I highly doubt it is), I'm willing to bet they're going to go down the Catwoman route and do an entirely new character, mainly so there won't be a Hal/John/Kyle/Guy debate.

I could see him as Kyle, not really as a GL but I think he could easily suit the out of costume Rayner.

I doubt they'd go with a new character, it would create more pissed off fans than the loyal fanbase wars could. The best way to make a GL movie work would probably be to have Hal Jordan pass on the mantle to Kyle, and then in the sequel have Kyle meet John Stewart.

Well, unlike the unholy alliance that made the future bomb Catwoman, I actually think that Sandler might be able to pull off a GL movie, but as stated before, this is, MOST DEFINATELY, a rumor until I hear it from an official source.

I mean, Sandler could do for GL what Jim Carrey did for The Mask.

What if they made an Iron Man movie? What would we say about that? Would Ozzy Osbourne be popular again even without biting heads off of bats?

I don't think Sandler would make a good lantern.. He just doesn't have that menacing/strong build I'd imagine a Lantern to have. Also his comedic roots just make me worry what would happen to GL should this ever happen because I don't want to go to a Green Lantern movie to laugh.

If this happened, it would get as close as I think possible to hell on earth for myself. This should not even be joked about.

I dunno, I thought my parody of the Green Lantern Oath as it pertains to this news was kind of funny

The last superhero Sandler was involved with was "The Greatest American Hero", and I believe he still has the rights. I also think the Farrellys have the rights to the Six Million Dollar Man. But Green Lantern, no. WB is very picky about their films, look what they did with Catwoman.;)
