I think this is a devastating blow to the animation community! I know in recent years they have neglected their animation department, but they were always the leaders of cutting edge animation in this country, especially animation for adults. With Fox animation gone and now this, I think we are looking at quite a dry spell for great animation for adults. I think the best place we will have to look for such animation in the near future is on the Internet.

This sucks. No more Daria(possibly)! Although thankfully underGRADS is made by a Canadian animaiton company, and Spider-Man could still go there, becuase Sony will be behind it. Personally, I don't want Spider-Man to his MTV. I'd rathar is be on prime time on FOX of TheWB.

But this is bad news. I really miss their Liquid Television show. They did a great job on The Maxx asnd The Head.

Man, if Daria's gone, that really sucks! I guess Mtv needs more money for the Real World and Road Rules so animation gets the boot. Thank goodness will get mindless fight between a bunch of brainless yuppy kids and not some inteligent animted shows. I was worried there for a second...*THE SARCASM DETECTORS OFF THE CHARTS!*

That really sucks. No more Deathmatch. :( Why? I love seeing celebrities kill each other! No we need more TRL... One funny thing is, my mom's cousin works at MTV. At least end Deathmatch with Fandimonium! :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

But that means... no more Daria. And she was my role model (lol). Are they showing re-runs, or booting it all together? That's really too bad. I'm going to miss her.

This is truly a black day for animation fans.

"Daria", "Downtown" and "Undergrads" are three of my favorite animated shows. It's as if every other cable network has their heads up their butts:

MTV - shuts down their animation department

AMC - has taken to airing commercials during their movies

Headline News - they have become the info-clogged parody that they had managed to avoid

Nickelodeon - phasing out their good shows in favor of teeny-bopper crap

It's just insane.

I was just starting to get into Daria, and now it looks like it's leaving. Deathmatch is leaving also it seems.

(sigh) What great networks we once had.:(

Noooo!! Daria was one of the best animated shows currently on TV.

Belch will be fingering his handgun, I bet.

I just wonder what chance we will have that these shows will get picked up by other networks. If Viacom owns them, couldn't they go to any Viacom owned TV network? There would be alot to choose from! Didn't UPN show Deathmatch a while back? I guess I just cannot grip the fact that such a great animation studio is closing down.

I also wonder how this will affect any potential releases for Daria and other animated shows from MTV on DVD. I knew they had plans for Daria that suddenly seemed to be stalemated, and this might be the reason why.
