"'The Enemy Below' is our big Aquaman story," Justice League story editor Rich Fogel told The Comics Continuum website. "We felt that it was important to do this one early in the series because so many people wanted to know why Aquaman isn't part of our Justice League. I believe this will answer that question."
Aquaman was considered to join the Justice League breifly, but he was opted out. Aquqman, while currently dead in the DC Universe, is beinbg brought back to life to coincide with his appearance in the Justice League.
Aquaman also appeared in the Superman: TAS episode A Fish Story.
"Aquaman is a tremendously rich character and we wanted to build a story that matches his unique stature in the DC Universe. He's a proud king, a fierce warrior and a man who loves his family. It was fun telling a big, sprawling court intrigue story with Aquaman at the center. The themes are almost Shakespearean, and have real resonance in these troubled times."
Kevin Hopps is the writer for the episode while Dan Riba directs. Scott Rummel voices Aquaman, Kristin Bauer is Mera, and Richard Green is Orm.
Also, it is reported that production on the series is going extremely well. Warner Bros. Animation is producing the series quickly and should be able to meet any deadlines.
