for the first time ever, fridays will have jackie chan.. who does appear in a cn property..
but unbelievably, a warner/time/aol (maybe)/.. viacoM!?! more and more each day i wonder sometimes if warner doesnt' have some influence over viacom in some ways).... showcase of cartoons that replaced cartoon cartoon fridays.. will actually feature jackie chan talking about a DISNEY movie, around the world in 80 days.
is this a true first? CN/warner airing a piece, that is apparently promoting a DISNEY film in said interview via tommy and jackie chan!?! (not that something like this hasn't been pulled, at one time wcw wrestled at a mgm/disney arena before that nwo mess ruined wcw.. but i digress )..
i wonder, after things like this.. fridays is getting desperate... so many things now, not just the kitten.. they're into.. and especially since warner is not disney and vice versa...
i wonder.
put this where you may if here is not right. but i think it is kinda historic..
and a sign of dark times ahead for fridays.

There's also the Anime that is going to debut on Friday nights after the Friday block is over with that tells me CN Fridays is struggling. Just premeire the episodes throughout the week like before CN and give Fridays back to the general populace. I bet that Poke'Mon and Yu-Gi-Oh! premeires are > CN Fridays, Toonami > CN Friday's, etc.

We can sorta assume that the pair of Toonami-related shows won't be Fridays (Technically, they're on Saturday), and if they ARE related to any block, it'd be Toonami.

What on earth are you babbling about?
1) Around the World in 80 Days comes out Wednesday. It is important that Cartoon Network get current and upcoming stars on their network in order to ATTRACT KID VIEWERS. Noone cares if you don't like it. Why don't you like Jackie Chan? He's a hilarious guy in person with great stories.
2) Plugging a Disney movie increases relations between Turner and Disney. I think it's obvious that Cartoon Network has wanted at least a couple of Disney's (and Pixar's) offerings. And then stepping away from American animation... do you realize just how big it would be for Cartoon Network to gain television rights to the Ghibli films?
3) Your nonsense about AOLTW/Disney/Viacom... I can't even begin to comprehend it. But corporations have nothing to do with Fridays. Fridays, if anything, maintains its own pace and does its own thing. It's not desperate to want to do the things that other shows similar to Fridays does. Kids will tune in. That's the important thing. Having a guest on and highlighting a movie is no different from what Conan O' Brien does, or Disney Channel's Movie Surfers does, or what The Daily Show does. Are these shows desperate? Or are they very successful at bringing in an audience for their network? I'll answer the questions for you: no and yes.

don't get me wrong, i admire jackie chan.. just not working at disney, playing a second banana role like it was a first.. i mean, people do have ideas of what 'around the world in 80 days' should be like, and the movie really veers off from the novel by making the explorer a scientist and his simple butler (call it what you will) an buttkicker.. i doubt people will be very interested in the sidekick's side of the story, who are purists. plus knowing how disney has not had many sucesses this year (save for maybe home on the range)... if this bombs jackie chan will definently be thought of less , maybe even as old, by a lot of people. and people who hate disney will now hate jackie chan as well.
and the saying about the messenger being killed if they deliver bad news? if this bombs, it will be a black eye on the fridays 'thing' that they failed to promote anything. a real black eye. but maybe, cn will try in the future to avoid having real life people as part of a CARTOON network, where flesh and blood should not be permitted.

I don't think a network's gonna have a bad reputation for having an interview with a person who was in a movie that bombed... I mean, you wouldn't think any less of Conan O'Brien for interviewing someone connected to Gigli?

Uh, what's this about anime coming on after Fridays?
Or is that one of those things we aren't allowed to talk about?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it.

You're forgetting that kids hate talk shows. Nick Cannon used to have a talk show on Nickelodeon, kids hated it, so he changed the format of his show. Conan O'Brian one time did a special show where the audience consisted entirely of kids. The kids were so bored they started talking among themselves and ignored the guests.
Of course, I assume that Jackie Chan won't just talk and they'll have him show off his martial arts skills and stuff.

Question: HOw many of you actually WATCH Fridays. From the talks, everyone besides Matt writes as if they're afraid of what is happening. Watch Fridays, and see the interviews. They are NOT Nick Cannon talk show trash. They're off-beat, fast cut, funny, and quick.
Fridays slices up the interviews (and the interview bloopers) throughout the evening. Its not like one part of the night is just one giant interview. They've done Amy Lee (from Evanessence), Jason Mraz, the stars of Harry Potter, and a few more. The cuts for the interviews were so quick, and the topics kind of nutty that it wasn't boring at all. We're talking maybe one question per break here. 2-3 max. No kids get bored that quick!
Fridays is like a kids magazine. It has its own content, but also wants to keep abreast of what else is going on in kids entertainment. This doesn't make them "desparate" for convering any movie or show covered by another network. It does NOT matter how good the shows or movies are they cover in an interview. Jay Leno and Letterman have interviewed bands that were one hit wonders, and they are still on the air. Barbra Walters interviewed Charles Manson. Wake up!
Wrenchien, keep your opinions about the movie separate from Fridays. Fridays is simply a venue like all other shows that do interviews.

Question. Would the fact that CN premiered a Miramax film (Bionicle) on Toonami Saturdays first night help strengthen the relationship?

Of course Duke. If anything I don't think Cartoon Network and Disney are as competitive than CN and Nick. The idea behind the whole interviewing process is that everyone banks. No matter who created a film, if your show has the "newest of the new" on its program, you're not only promoting the film, but also the tv show. Its a win-win situation here. Even if a movie isn't a blockbuster, both parties got publicity.

Fridays isn't even worth talking about! It is so stupid! I wish whiever thought of fridays could see this right now! It seemed decent enough... they talk, say some funny things, and show a cartoon, very basic. But then... whiskers, mr. baby and baby... they might a well just be saying words that don't exist
i.e:
Tommy:flishkabibblle talkalee
Zanga: klammy jammy
Annoying kids: ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Whiskers: FRUIT!
anoying kids: ha ha ha ha ha ha!
And it would just go on and on... I would rather watch that than what's on there now.

I've warned you one already in another thread Code_lyoko19. I will not tolerate bashing. Wrenchien brought up a good discussion about how the show may have gone bad, and put thought behind it. You, on the other hand, are flaming the board. THREAD CLOSED.
