Well, here we are, 7 weeks into the game... I figured it's about time to start getting some general feedback from the players. Sooo... all players, feel free to use this thread to give me any feedback about the game, ideas about competitions you'd like to see, ideas for potential prizes in Reward Challenges, etc. You can discuss just about anything game related in this thread (just none of the obvious stuff: blatant voting discussions, asking Colin for the answers to the challenge in advance, etc)

So, let me here what you guys have to say... always looking for ways to improve the game, make it more challenging, more fun, etc :)

General feedback, general feedback?

It's been challenging that's for sure. Also though it's been fun, I like the people on the team I'm on, we all try to pull our weight. Prizes I don't carre about really, I saw this I signed up for the fun of it. Bessides I don't have much immagination there.

More challenging? You want our opinions on how to make it more challenging? I got an idea! Why not ask us to all surf the internet for a few hours..yup that's sound challenging! ^_^ All joking asside though, i don't know how to help you there. But maybe you'l find solice in the fact so far you don't really seem to need any?

Edit: And now thatI think about it, right now probably wasn't the best time to get my name changed...

Prizes you say? How about some Van Halen tickets?:D

Or perhaps the Beastie Boys? I hear they're touring soon.

hmmm prizes...mod-ship maybe........no? I believe you mentioned gift certificates before those would be cool.

Maybe if he spends his time making obscure rules he won't have as much time for the challenges...unless he makes some rule like "You cannot give the right answers" or something, but I'll stop now lest I give him more ideas.

Just wanted to bring up a point that's kinda been nagging me for a while... the lack of participation in the Tribal Council thread.

...perhaps it wasn't explained fully enough, or even well enough... but I always expected the tribal council thread to be a thread that had constant dialouge. Yes, I'd ask some questions, but those questions are just supposed to be starting points to bigger discussions. I don't just want to hear from one person on a particular subject and move on, I would have liked to see some reaction on other people's responses, too. The Tribal Council threads should often be lively... instead, I often find myself fishing for stuff to discuss because there's only so much I can speculate about going on... or I only get limited answers that don't lead to further discussion on the topic.

Tribal Council is not only supposed to be granting me an insight into the players and the games, but it's also supposed to help you guys and grant you further insight into other players. You guys have always been encouraged to respond to each other. I never said you couldn't, yet there always seems to be a lack of response in the thread.

I dunno... maybe I just expected too much from it...

TimTwoFace
08-05-2004, 06:56 PM
I think the only reason people are shying away from the tribal councils right now is because they're worried to say anything that may weaken their position in the game. Everyone's still uneasy as to where they sit, there's no position of power that's been set. Anyone could be the next victim.

I mean, if a position of power is set, the people in the driver's seat can say whatever they want cuz they feel 'safe', while the people worried about their position will say whatever they want, hoping to stir things up and go out in a blaze of glory.

So yeah, I guess we're all playing it safe at the moment. :)

Tim pretty much hit it right on the head. Nobody wants to say something, only to have it come back and bite them in the ass later.

I don't think that the lack of activity in the tribal councils necessarily means that no one is interested in the game. I think we're all playing carefully. If anything, I think it reflects better on everyone as a whole, if they think before acting.

But hey, if it makes you feel better, I think Tim is a doody-head.

Ah, but you can still play it safe and spark some kind of conversation over there. I'm not looking for something like "My plan this week is to eliminate this person, so that next week I can eliminate their alliance partner, followed closely by the person who I plan on stabbing in the back..." just something that can feed discussion. You may think it's dangerous to not say too much... it can also be dangerous to not say enough... ;) Remember, especially at this point... your performance is now being judged by the jury... ;)

...oh, and it'd make me feel better if you said Tim was a doody-head in the Tribal Council thread ;)

<SNI> but those questions are just supposed to be starting points to bigger discussions.I don't believe it... someone is actually encouraging me to add commentary? This has never been done in my life. I think... I ...might ...faint. I also think I have found a new appreciation for Colin.

I'm not looking for something like "My plan this week is to eliminate this person, so that next week I can eliminate their alliance partner, followed closely by the person who I plan on stabbing in the back..." PPS - Hey Colin, in the unlikely case of a tie at tribal council, like a 4-4 split or a 3-3 split, what would happen to break the tie? They kept changing the rules on this one with every Survivor season, it seemed - so I have absolutely NO clue what you're concocting.

The rules for a tie are quite simple actually...

We start out with a trip to the beach where the contestants who both recieved the highest number of votes writes their name in the sand near the waveline

From there, we take a 12 mile run across the island to a tree that is rigged with a pully system

Using twigs that you've picked up along the way, as well as the machete placed along the trail that you've picked up, you work the pully system free to raise your flag

From there, it's on to the lion pit, where you have to walk across a three inch wide beam of wood without falling in

then you have to navigate your kayak through the piranah lagoon...

and make your way back to the beach. If you are the first person back, and your name hasn't been washed away by the ocean, you'll win and not be voted off the island :)

Simple, right?

Sorry for getting a little hot under the collar there, folks. So for anyone that caught the post I did last night - which probably was overstepping the boundaries of good taste, I'm sorry.

I pulled said message, a chat-session that I figured should be revealed to you all, from the board cuz after I slept on it, it just didn't seem suitable for a game that's on a board designated as being "fun". My apologies to Barto and anyone else that may have seen that, if they were mentioned in said violating post or otherwise.

I figure it's still ok fo rme to posst in here just wanted to say YEASH!!! Asside from colin, Gwen and former Hero it's quiet in that challenge thread!! Not even a cricket chirping...I like Hero's idea of the next one being a role playing game, just seemed everything went quiet when it became everone for themselves.

guinaevere
08-20-2004, 03:32 PM
As for the role playing thing, I've been trying to keep this up since some of Colins first questions. Mr TwoFace was getting into the act with me. I dunno, it just seemed to be part of the fun and a natural way to approach the game. ah well...

Colin
08-20-2004, 03:48 PM
It really seems like the only opportunity available in the game for Role Play is during Tribal Council... unfortunately (and it's been this way since the beginning); no one has really gotten into it. No matter what questions I ask to the tribe, it's only the one person responding and no reaction to the response... It's rather annoying, really... cause it's not giving me much to work with to ask questions, and it's not giving the jury much information either....

TimTwoFace
08-20-2004, 04:11 PM
Cripes, I return to this mess and I all I hear is more bickering. ONE-WAY bickering too, might I add. It seems Gwen has kept it up in my week-long absense at Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom - what a bitter old hag she's turning out to be.

You want to ask me a question, Colin? OK, ask me about her or anyone else here, and I'll lay it on the line pure and simple, with small monosyllabic words so SHE has a shot at being able to understand what I'm talking about.

I should have realized weeks ago that no one was gonna have fun with the jury questioning. That no one was going to call into play the ethics of either Tim or Gwen's games. No one was gonna call you out on any potential backstabbing and throat slitting you may have done, etc...

What's the whole point of saying "you can say ANYTHING YOU WANT" to the remaining players if you are just gonna go, stand up, ask a question (sometimes a question that seemingly has nothing to do with the game itself), and then sit down. The whole thing is supposed to be fun, but it just doesn't even look like anyone's having fun with it. Just looks like everyone is going through the paces... which has been happening since Week 1...

That no one was going to call into play the ethics of either Tim or Gwen's games. No one was gonna call you out on any potential backstabbing and throat slitting you may have done, etc... I dunno, Colin. We've now had 4 Jurors ask their questions. Two of the Jurors have asked pointed, though not flat-out "are you a total stinker for playing the way you have?" questions.

What's the whole point of saying "you can say ANYTHING YOU WANT" to the remaining players if you are just gonna go, stand up, ask a question (sometimes a question that seemingly has nothing to do with the game itself), and then sit down.I agree it would be very fun, if not unnerving to be faced with a very loaded or even worse, direct question. But you have to remember that unlike the tv show, we all aren't complete strangers, nor do we all go our seperate ways once it's over. I'm not close friends with any of the Jurors like Tim is, but we all do bump into each other with regularity on these boards, and that might be something to consider.

Okay, that's it. I've had it.

Colin, please quit whining about how we're playing it. Please. It's taking all the fun out of it for me. I thought everyone was doing just fine. Personally, I WAS enjoying it. I'm sorry for saying such a thing, and I really didn't want to hurt your feelings because you've put a lot of effort into organizing this game and such. For that, I'm really grateful. You've done an excellent job. But this harping is getting on my nerves. I want to relax and just PLAY, not worry about something that I feel is relatively trivial. It takes me a while to come up with something even remotely fun and imaginative to post, and I don't always have that kind of time. Feels like my posts come under close scrutiny now or something, and if they don't measure up, then the whole game's ruined, or something. Geez! I don't want to have to worry that much during a game!

Look, as other people have said before, this is the first time we've tried something like this. Add to that, most people are busy with their lives outside the internet (look at the people who have had to drop out, for example) and it's only natural that people kinda put in what they have to, maybe a bit more, and move on. I can see your point. To a certain extent, I empathize with you. But instead of expecting things to just up and improve in the first game, just roll with it, let the game run its course, and keep stuff in mind for the next Survivor (assuming we have one). Like, was the timing bad? Well, we can hold the next one in, say, the middle of summer or something, when most people have more free time.

In any case, just don't worry about it. For your sake more than mine, really. Almost nothing is at its best the first go-round, and that's OKAY. So just RELAX, fer pete's sake.

Besides, how can you be sure that I didn't have any ulterior motives for asking the question that I did, hmmm? It was supposed to be deceptively simple. And I'll have you know that the answers turned out much more interesting than I'd expected.

My gripe's not how you're presenting your questions. I think everyone's doing a fine job of presenting the questions. As for ulterior motives... you're right, I've got no idea what's been going through my head. My biggest "Harp" has been that for weeks I've been stressing that this is the point where you can unload on the final two for anything and everything about game play... you may think that this is a trivial point, but in fact it's supposed to be a vital point to the game. At jury, you have to face your demons. The other players have the right to call you out. Call you out on any bad deals you made, any times you were stabbed in the back, etc. Relive all the things you wish you didn't do. It proves the players the final two were. It provides you, the jury, with even more information to help base your final decision on. It doesn't present them as two superior people, but rather more realistic people and helps you to possibly see them in a different light. I guess I'm just frustrated that more of that's not coming into play. So, please, don't get me wrong. I may have come across as an ungrateful git, but that was far from it... we all know how difficult it is to convey some things online... this is a case where that was one of those things... we get over it and move on.

As for the next round (which, I for one hope there will be, and based on how well this one ultimately went, despite all my *****ing, there should be ;))... I don't know if time of year really had anything to do with it as much as the length of game play. No one really had any idea what to expect, myself included... no one knew how long this thing was gonna last, but we all made it through. Who knew it would last 4, almost 5 months... wow! I think it's just a matter of working the game when it's convenient for the players. Most "teams" will need to realize that everyone's not gonna always be available for whatever reason and they work with it. I doubt it'll make a difference whether it be Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall (though, Summer probably did turn out to be the better time since many of us didn't have excessive burdens, like pesky schoolwork). We'll see how it goes during the next round of Reality...

Don't you dare even try to insinuate that I'm trying to influence the jury in that manner. Honestly.Oh, don't be silly. Yes, as I've admitted quite honestly to you, I feel at a disadvantage because you, as you've said, are close with many of the jurors. But if you read the paragraph you snipped that out of, you'll see the point I was trying to make to Colin.

Mainly that close friends or even friendly acquantances, that is one very understandable reason why they may feel uncomfortable asking us loaded questions.

Singin' Stray Cat
09-26-2004, 11:42 PM
First off, again, I'm sorry for being blunt before. Had to come out. Then again, I did break one of my major rules about posting here: "Never post when you're in a bad mood!" :p

It provides you, the jury, with even more information to help base your final decision on. It doesn't present them as two superior people, but rather more realistic people and helps you to possibly see them in a different light.Believe it or not, that did happen with the answer to my question. Seriously. Maybe it wasn't some major revelation to the rest of the jury (or...was it? ;) ) but it did show me a few new things, at least.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but... were you wondering why I (or anyone, really) didn't ask something more pointed, seeing as how I was with our final two contestants right up until almost the end? (Not to mention there's rumors of a former alliance floatin' around...) Anyway, I can't speak for everyone else, but for me the answer is: I just don't have an axe to grind with either of them. There's no demons, no drama, no jealousy, no betrayals. At least, none that would make me care enough to get all worked up over them. (And yet I did get worked up over delivery, go figure. :p ) I personally didn't ask a loaded question because I had nothing to load a question with.

Plus I have another reason, which will remain a secret for the time being. Tee hee...

We'll see how it goes during the next round of Reality...Kind of the other point I was trying to make, but prolly didn't. Don't be frustrated. There's enough things in life that'll do that to you. This shouldn't be one of them. :D

Javeman! Quick! Another Magic 8-ball!! It could be our only hope!!!

Though seriously...November 3rd? Why is this ganna take 24 days? Is there some sort of motive here or is Colin just exercising his power one last time? I guess this means a little while more untill we can start the next reality game. Gives me time to try and think up a good case for it to be The Mole I suppose..

Booooooooooooooooooo!

You suck Colin, you big fat $@#&@!!!!!!!!

Heh...I had a feeling the votes would be this tight, though.

Hey, if Gwen should, say, turn up DEAD before November 3rd, could I be declared winner by default? :) :) :)

For the Survivor: Toon Zone Reunion Special, of course!!! Where all the Survivors once again rejoin each other for the first time since being stranded on the island... plus, you'll get to field questions from your adoring public! ;)

And I'm sure Tim, being our resident Survivor expert, saw this whole thing coming... on the bright side, I'm not making you wait 6 months like they do on the TV show ;)

BTW, Tim... should Gwen end up dead, it just means I get to keep my money ;)

I don't have a Magic 8-ball, does a random number generator work?
