These are the best books in the world. Whoever hasn't read them should. There are 7 books released in the US as of now, and 11 released most other places. The entire series is in four trilogies:

The Saga is about a boy named Darren Shan who is an average ordinary kid. Then, one day, his friend gets tickets to a freak show. He and his friend Steve Leopard go to the freak show... and DesTiny takes it from there.
The series is not about evil bloodsucking monsters as you may think when you hear the word Vampire. These vampires do suck blood, but they don't kill when they drink, nor do they enslave their victims. They just take small amounts of blood and don't kill. The Vampaneze are the killers. They think it's wrong to drink from a human without sucking them dry. However, there are some good points to the Vampaneze. They never lie. Neither side uses missile weapons, like guns. They only use hand weapons like swords.
This series is SO GOOD. It's full of surprising twists (and some not-so-surprising ones (like the VERY end of book 11)). It is just so good!
