I was never really a fan, but its sad to see a company that appeals to hardcore gamers go away...along with Capcom they may have been the only ones bringing out new 2d fighters.

I never heard of it. But its still some sort of video game company so they should of gotten a nice review and follow up story.

This is bad news. SNK was one of the best fighting game developers of all time. It's a shame to see the King of Fighters franchise ended.

Mmmm.... I never thought that SNK was a GREAT company, but they were a GOOD one. Or maybe it's because I'm just not much of a fighting fan. Ah well. Either way, I hate to see companies go... it's less output for us all to enjoy.

Drat.

When I was in school, the hottest game in the Union arcade was "Samurai Showdown." It gathered to crowds who just watched it. Beautiful animation, good music, varied sprites. Play was an art and not just anyone could do it. It took me months to learn how to beat the game at the first two levels with Gen-An; I was hopeless against the pros unless they played a character they weren't used to. And even if it was frustrating to have some engineering senior wipe me out with Hanzo or Galford in four hits, it was stunning to watch.

Farewell, SNK.

They games are the best, while Capcom kept recycling Street fighter they made:

Fatal Fury
Samurai Shodown
Art of Fighting
World Heroes
The King of fighters 94-2001

All of them where GREAT games, why are they going out of busisness?:(

Dang, first Sega stops the dreamcast, now this. Well, I still have my SNK games, but it's still sad to see them go.

Crap. I always enjoyed the KoF games...and SNK pushed for a lot of respectability for video games. It's very sad...those were some of the best games I ever played.

....they probably shut down due to low profits, hard times, etc. They withdrew a much-anticipated game consol (hand held) to just Japan, which was probably a early warning sign.

...still, I'm a Capcom fan, so 2D old fashioned games still have hope. But with the way Capcom's going, it may be out soon...:(

Please, you gotta be kidding if Capcom goes out we'll all be doomed, no more 2D fighting games, even worse not more Cammy and Morrigan!!!

there is no way Nintendo will be dropping out of the video game business...The only one that looks to be having troubles is Microsoft with their X-Box. PS2 and GCN have great games for their systems, and I don't see a slowness in the greatness in the future.

I'm not a fan of fighting games. Granted, I have a few (IE: Killer Instinct Gold, Super Smash Bros. [and soon to be Soul Calibur 2 and Super Smash Bros. Melee), but I'm not ooed and awed at them like I am with platform games.

I do hate to see companies go down...but, with the various other companies that aren't very popular, maybe they'll have a chance to shine..
