I don't think you'll have too many people disagreeing with you on that one. He's screwed things up enough, it's time to get back to the "dark" Knight, instead of the credit card toting goofy Batman...

I think he should be banned from any superhero future for the immediate future. If Schumaucer wasn't invovled with FOREVER, then maybe people would not have blamed Kilmer so much for the movie bein' sorta sucky.

So true, DG. Val's a great actor and I had greatly anticipated seeing his interpretation of the Dark Knight. Unfortunately, Schumacher had other plans.
One question, though. Is Joel to blame? By that, I mean wouldn't he have possibly been taking orders from whichever WB execs were in charge? Given how they've treated BB and a lot of the other recent Bat projects that were supposed to see light, I had kind of been thinking WB was responsible. I have no basis for that, of course. It was just an assumption I had made. I figured that after the disappointment in Batman Returns, WB decided (wrongly) to take the series in the opposite direction.

I couldn't agree with you more. I really thought Shoemaker was a horrible jerk who didn't know what he was doing. I'm glad Keaton stayed out of the movie otherwise we would of had second thoughts about good ole Mike.

Oh yeah, we can blame Shumaker. He said on talk shows that he wanted to make a "kid's movie."

A kids movie, hmmm..... I don't know of too many kid's movies that have a close up of the star's butt and bat-nipples, but maybe I watched a different knid of kids movie....

I still say that when all is sead and done the only truly barnone good Batman movie to ever hit the screen was Mask of the Phantasm.
So my vote? WB, dont even *think* about doing another Batman film unless you have Paul Dini writing it. and whoever is the director, tie them to a chair and make them watch Batman TAS.
Make them eat, sleep, and breather TAS. Make them watch so much TAS that he has all the keygrips dress like Harley Quinn!

Good idea, Terry. Dini could write a helluva film. Look at how good MOTP and ROTJ are. I'd love to see him do it, but it'll most likely happen. Only in a perfect world...

... and not a PC kid's movie ta boot! If the Batman and Robin suits had nipples, where were Batgirls!? *grumble grumble*
Ban Shumaker, shoemaker, Shumacher from superheroes all together is right! and Giant Monster movies too! I don't wanna see Godzilla's butt and nipples on the screen!
Dini could write a helluva film
I second that!!! Imagine what he could do for a more adult oriented market that the Batman movies should be....

I have a residual post-high school weakness for "The Lost Boys." And I liked "Falling Down."

I have little faith that WB will approach Paul Dini to write a live-action Batman film (as good of a writer as he is, he is still an untested live-action writer), but if Darren Aronofsky and Frank Miller get to make their movie, I'll be very happy. You guys would have nothing to worry about if they get to do it.

I so wanted to like 8mm, but didn't because I didn't like the second half. After reading the original script, I see how Schumacher ruined the movie...so there you go...
3rd if you cast Batgirl, cast someone who actually fits into the suit, therefore cast Britney Spears as Batgirl :D Just kidding...
3rd rule... Just 1 big villain, no more super villain team-ups
4th rule...Use the BTAS/TNBA design for the movie...it would be awesome to see Gotham with the red sky.
5th rule...it's a movie not a toy commercial, so please no extra ice-suits and 3 extra ice-vehicles
6th rule don't cast a Batman that looks like a dog (Clooney), Kilmer was great (sorry but that's my honest opinion, I think he was better than Keaton)

Actually, there is over 60 minutes of deleted footage from BATMAN FOREVER which involved alot of Bruce Wayne and Batman time. Some very dark, dark stuff. But after all that was shot, it was cut for more Jim Carrey stuff. In the end, it was Schumacer and Peters who decided what to keep in and what to toss. They wanted to emphasize the comic aspect of comic book film. I posted a couple months back a complete list of all the scenes that were cut out from BATMAN FOREVER some months back. I would like to see an ORIGINAL CUT version with these back in. Here's the URL:

Thanks. I kind of remember that thread, but vaguely. Wow, that really is something. So most of those scenes were filmed? What are the chances of seeing an original cut release. Not likely, right? We're supposed to see the release of ROTJ uncut, though, so maybe we could see uncut Forever soon after?

ALL those scenes were filmed, but were cut in post production. There's an ultra slim chance we'l see these clips, or even some of them. There are old bootlegs circulating that feature the original Arkham opening.

Actually, I like the Onstar commericals better than *either* of the Schumacher flicks.
At least in those we get to see the *true* live action Batmobile.
