So, what days that they rerun the show are they going to show JL in widescreen? I want to tape the show, but not in full frame. Thanks!

Another often-repeated question regarding this. The show was animated in widescreen, right? I just want to tape it so I see the most possible (no way I'm waiting an extra six days just to see each episode in widescreen, but I'm certainly saving 'em that way).

I too want to know what dates for the widescreen version. I am going to be away that week and want to set my vcr to the right showing.

I have no plans to tape them since they are already planning DVD releases. I hope the DVDs are in widescreen only.

The DVDs will be released in widescreen. I 've been told that one of the factors for the widescreen episode is becuase of the potential DVD market.
Also, the widescreen version will air Sundays at 8:30pm.
I'd recommend sticking close to this site's newspage for JL Updates, which will be very, very frequent.

I will still tape them. You never know how long it will take Warner to release them. DG do you have any idea when they might release them on dvd??

Half the reason I'm taping them is for some friends who don't have CN and don't have a DVD player. The other half of the reason is for me, 'cause there's no way I'm waiting 'til DVD releases just to see those episodes again! Yeah, I'll probably buy them just the same, but for now...
Okay, this is going purely from memory (and that's sometimes a good thing): The news page's schedule says the Sunday eps (which I BELIEVE are the widescreen ones) are on at 8:30 PM.
But I can't remember which is the version that shows everything (in other words, how the episode was storyboarded and animated). Thanks!

The DVD won't be until mid 2002 at the earliest.
As for JL - I can't wait for this series but I don't cable where I'm at. I have a friend whos gonna hopefully hook me up with JL episodes.
The weird thing is - last year I wans't all worried about missing BB eps, but now I'm a bit antsy about missing JL eps...

hey grayson, i know how you feel. we dont get the WB where i live, so when they stopped running kids WB on WGN nationwide, i missed superman, batman, and batman beyond. thank god for cartoon network. get cable. it's worth it. the warners will always find a way to get us our world's finest animated.

I know I'll get to see the episode, but not right off. I guess a nice trade off is seeing the pilot before you folks. :) I can wait for the other episodes.

Hate to repeat my question, but....
was JL storyboarded and animated in widescreen or full screen? Is widescreen truly widescreen or just two black bars? Thanks.

I really hate not knowing anything about this show.....

Its actually widescreen. When they show it full frame they'll be cutting a bit off the sides.

10-30-2001, 07:10 PM
So they are airing the show at different times in different formats??
James Harvey

The show wil lair in FULL FRAME on Mondays and Fridays. It will air WIDESCREEN on Sunday.

One last question as long as I remember this stuff....Secret Origins will air the 17th at 7 in full screen and the 18th at 8:30 in widescreen, right?
Shriek
10-30-2001, 10:05 PM
So two new episodes a week? Or just a bunch of reruns?
kid_flash
10-30-2001, 10:32 PM
Ooo! Ooo! I know this one! Episodes air on Mondays (in full frame), replay on Fridays (in full frame), and again on Sundays (in widescreen). Yay! I got one right!
Make sure to check my last post, 'cause it's another question :D

I think the Sunday edition will be popular. CN is making abig deal out of it becuase they're making special commercial bumpers for it.

Well at least I get to watch 3 of the same shows once a week. This should be great.

A great change from Kids'WB! where it would sometimes take ages for them to rerun an episode.
kid_flash
11-01-2001, 07:10 PM
And that's assuming they even rerun a given episode. I don't remember ever seeing Girl's Night Out on WB a second time. I think there were others.
James Harvey

There were some episodes they barely reran, like GIRLS NITE OUT and HOLIDAY KNIGHTS. They wouldn't rerun episodes for 4 - 8 weeks, which can be a long wait for some fans. It's funny how they never reran the good shows...
Samhaine
11-02-2001, 03:21 PM
Oh, WB reran plenty of episodes.
Heavy Metal, Monkey Trouble (Fun? never can remember), and The Terrible Trio.
Can't remember how many times I've seen those eps....
Grrrr, KidsWB!, grrrrr....

DG, you dont get CN??????? seriously? i thought you mentioned once that you have a satalite dish. and still no CN? so you dont keep up w/ toonami or any other cn programing? this is quite a shock, i dont know why, it just sort of is. it just sucks that you of all people wont be getting to see JL eps w/ us. well, like you said, youll see them, but just not right away.
but havent you talked about things on cn before? like the crappy toonami bb opening, and things like that? just alittle confussed. peace.

Widescreen?! Awesome.
There is nothing better than violent widescreen animation. This is the first time that I've heard this, but it's a great suprise!

I lost CN last month, and I was a bit P.O.ed. I took a breathe and realized that I already have all the Batman, Superman episodes, And I can get UNMASKED in December (via YTV). As for JL. I figure I can wait patiently and wait for my friends to send me a copy of the show. (which I can't thank them enough for). I can wait. Plus - since they'll be on DVD begining in 2002 - I'm not worried.

so are the actual episodes being released on dvd that soon? i was under the impression that if jl is a success, the pilot "movie" would be release, but if the actual eps will be, that sounds nice. maybe the eps will be released in # order. but i'm taping them anyway, so i'll probably buy dvds that i cant tape off tv. im already planning a stradegy for buying btas on dvd, cause when that comes out, ohhh baby!
but dg, w/ all your connections i'm sure you'll get hooked up in no time. plus i wouldnt be surprised if toonami's evil, pathetic twin, kidsWB "toonami" winds up airing jl from time to time. peace.

Are you sure the widescreen version has stuff added to the sides? Or is it just full frame with black bars cropping out the top and bottom?
We wouldn't have this trouble with pan and scan and the like if they just used one standard!
Was this already asked?
James Harvey
11-06-2001, 04:22 PM
The widescreen versions of JL will be actual widescreen. Trust me - when you see the pan & scan version, and then the widescreen version - you'll see. The show is definatly widescreen, it's not open matte (or whatever that word is)
As for the JL schedule - how I about I go a step furthur and give you a URL you should bookmark:
http://alt.cartoonnetwork.com/Schedule/0,3671,CTN|0|320361|Eastern,00.html
And finally, the release of the JL Pilot is essentially a lock (same with Samauri Jack). WB anticipates this movie will be huge since it appeals to both sexes as well various age groups. I gaurentee you we'll see some cool JL DVD releases.
I think I answered all the questions...

You missed the widescreen airdates! ;)
But no trouble, 'cause now I can show off everything I learned on this thread! :D
The Sunday at 8:30 showing of "Secret Origins" will be widescreen (NOT the Saturday showing as reported in the past).
As for the regular episodes, those will ALSO be in widescreen on Sundays at 8:30. That's kinda cool 'cause you can see one episode on Sunday, and get the next one the very next day. But to fully experience that, you could only do it every other week. Or something....

Thanks DG!
Anyway, it's funny. I can see it now
Trimm: "Can't we fill up these black bars with more art!?"
Then the crew follow Trimm's advice
Trimm: "We should add more art to the side!" Then the crew add more art to the side and Trimm says the exact same thing as before.
"Can't we fill up these black bars with more art!?"
They keep on doing that like the-chicken-and-the egg until the characters are microscopic! :p
Also, what does everyone think of Vince's review? I can relate to it because I never read comics either. ;)

You missed the widescreen airdates! ;)
That's what that link was for, but my bad. I thought it would have widescreen in brackets. Sunday will be the only showing for the widescreen versions.
This is quite cool, I think. JL wil be CN's firts widescreen regular series. Makes JL seem more and more cool...:)
