Where did Dini, Timm & Co. get some of their most distinctive sound effects that they used for certain characters, vehicles, etc. in the DCAU? How were they able to find or produce such unique sound effects? For example:

-the sound of Mr. Freeze's gun
-the sound of The Shade's nightstick
-the sound a Batarang makes when Batman throws it
-the sound of Superman flying

I'm really curious about these in particular. :)

This is one thing that still amazes me, mostly because I know that if I were in sound (or music), I'd be utterly hopeless at creating anything original. Most of these noises were simply just...created, as far as I can imagine. Morphed and tweaked from being something else, distorted, various layers of other sounds mixed in, that sorta thing.

Judging by my limited vocabulary, you can tell I'm in way over my head here. :p But hopefully you get the idea of what I'm trying to convey. :)

I always assumed that they had extensive use of thier parent's sfx library (WB Studio). When B:tAS came out my friends and I were in awe of the sfx. The guns in particular sounded like authentic (movie authentic mind you) old time gangster weapons (like a tommygun in Cat and the Claw pt. 1). Put those mentioned were more than likely new sfx which I would love to ummm... own. :D

Oh, I'm sure a lot of those sounds were from an SFX library somewhere. But some of them have to have been made from scratch. I mean, I doubt they'd want everything sounding the same, even if it's something as subtle as a gunshot or car engine or bird call or something so minor.
