Here's Some News About one of the most popular Cartoon Cartoons today, Ed Edd n Eddy (Gotten From A Friend Who Got It From Animation Insider):
Cartoon Networkhas given the greenlight to 26 additional half-hour episodes of Ed, Edd n Eddy, one of the network's most popular original series since its debut in January 1999. The new episodes will begin airing in 2005.
Ed, Edd n Eddy, from creator Danny Antonucci, currently airs daily Cartoon Network. With 52 episodes already produced, it is one of Cartoon Network's top-rated original series, particularly popular with boys. In fact, for the first quarter of 2004, Ed, Edd n Eddy's Friday 7 p.m. (ET, PT) telecast is Cartoon Network's #1 show among boys 6-11 and kids 6-11.
The 26 new episodes join an existing order for three new half-hour holiday specials, announced previously, that are currently in production. The first of these, a Christmas special, will air this December.
Ed, Edd n Eddy tells the story of three best friends who have the same first name and live on the same cul-de-sac in the suburbs. But the three boys' personalities are as different as they are ridiculous. The Eds are driven by their constant quest for money, which they plan to spend on life's finer things, like jawbreakers. Bolstered by the power of adolescent ignorance, Ed (the tall, gullible one), Edd (the smart, polite one) and Eddy (the resident entrepreneur and unofficial leader) plunge headlong into outlandish adventures that would be unbelievable if they weren't so close to every child's real life.
While the first 52 half-hour episodes focused on the summer days spent seeking knowledge, acceptance and some cash, the new adventures will explore how the Eds fare during the rest of the year. The shows central cast of characters, (including the Kanker Sisters, Sarah, Jimmy, Rolf, Nazz, Jimmy 2 x 4 and, of course, Plank), will remain the same, but, in the new episodes, the Eds' world is affected by the pressures of school, snow and life outside the cul-de-sac.
"Ed, Edd n Eddy has been one of our most popular original series, from the day it launched. In fact, it's still picking up steam with viewers. It's a tribute to Danny's vision and sensibility that kids find these characters so compelling and likeable," said Jim Samples, executive vice president and general manager, Cartoon Network. "We can't wait to see what Danny and his crew have dreamed up for the three holiday specials and the 26 new half-hours.
In addition to being Cartoon Network's #1 show among boys 2-11 and boys 6-11, Ed, Edd n Eddy attracted more than 31 million different viewers ages 2+ in April. This year, the veteran series has had a remarkable growth spurt, posting double-digit growth in Cartoon Network's kids audience in key time slots. The Friday 7 p.m. (ET, PT) telecast has grown by 31 percent with kids 6-11 while Sunday at 7 p.m. (ET, PT) has grown by 56 percent with the same audience.
Ed, Edd n Eddy is produced by Antonucci at aka Cartoons in Vancouver.Very exciting news, wouldn't you agree?

Very exciting news, wouldn't you agree?No, I don't agree.
Danny intended it to end on Episode 52. Thus it should end on Episode 52. Not Episode 78.
Adding school and outside towns now? Well, I guess they WERE running out of material, but will they showing full, 22-minute episodes now?

I don't think they were running out of material but I agree if the creator wants something their way then that's how it should be. Not bad news though.

I didn't think season 4 was really to great so maybe these changes are just what the show needs :) keeping the same characters is a plus and I hope there will still be scams but otherwise yay! http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

I think that in some moment we would have to see Ed, Edd and Eddy in another year epochal, but I don't imagine 2 whole seasons about that .
Sound a bit like "All Grown Up" to me.

It's the same series, just in a different season than summer. That's not really that big a deal is it? Chances are the episodes would take place AFTER school anyway.
It's the same crew, so it'll turn out fine.
I mean the school thing.. does seem like CN exec decisions.. but it doesn't bother me. After all, they did have to change the series a little to go past 52 episodes, just like Justice League did. Won't mean it's a completely different show now.

Ok, so it's new seasons with different seasons? Good, some variety now. I bet it'll be just about the same except the words school, homework, and snow will be in it a lot more. And season 4 has been good, so I'm anticipating to see how these will do.

More like Final Episode. Called "Take This Ed And Shove It" a 22 Minute long ep where....
The Ed-Boys open up a retirement center and imagine what they'll be like in the future
And since the Christmas Special is airing on December 2004, I imagine that episode will be on before then. At least by Fall 2004 or something like that.

I thought the Halloween special would be coming first before the X-mas special. I also thought that EEnE was just going last for 4 seasons. Maybe Danny changed his mind.(Does anyone have actual proof that he wanted to do more episodes? I want to be 100% sure on that) I just hope that the new season is being done by the original crew! I wonder how they're going to pull off EEnE now they're going to be involved with school n' stuff. Are there going to be new characters? I hope not! :D
This sounds atrocious. The show's already been falling behind. Adding new stuff is a very temporary and ultimately awful solution. Let it go with dignity, four solid seasons.

Falling behind HOW? Every episode in season 4 was incredible, with the exception of the episode with Jimmy and Sarah's rich club. EEE redefines what improvement means. The show can only get better.

it was  I admit to missing a lot of the season 4 episodes but I wasn't impressed with what I did see  are the S4 episodes in the repeat rotation now? I'll try to watch more often if so http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif
I doubt school will affect the show very much. All these two new seasons bring is classic EENE just in another season. No biggie.

Yeah, I didn't like that one either (I think some other people didn't either). Didn't you think the one with Ed's Stinky Jacket though was only okay? (I remember you did a review of that episode).

Season 4 Episodes are in rotation. In fact, one just aired today (the One where Eddy gets a scam block and Plank's parents visit the Cul-de-sac). I wouldn't worry about missing one if you watch CN enough.

Yes, it was. Of course there's bias because I'm an animator so I can appreciate more than you guys can, but the storyboarding, direction, and drawings are just so phenomenal in the entire fourth season, and the ideas didn't recycle old plots either, unless to subvert them. I mean just put a first season episode next to a fourth season episode... they're hardly the same show, and hardly even in the same universe.
The stinky jacket wasn't the best episode but it was the obligatory "stink" episode that had to be gotten out of the way so that such jokes would never crop up in the future. Plus they had some really clever visual jokes in that episode anyway... it wasn't potty humor, more like Pepe Le Pew humor.

You're kidding, right?
Let's see:
Exact same production staff + new enviroment + same comic pacing due to same staff = 26 fresh episodes. This isn't Rugrats, where a 2 or so year hiatus occured where staff was lost and rearranged, and this isn't the Simpsons, where the staff and comedic style was completely altered. All signs point to this working IMO. Besides, if gives AKA Cartoon and Antonucci an extra bit of breathing room to develop a new series, it'll serve a purpose even if it is mediocre, namely that of keeping AKA in business.

Agree yes, and I can truly say that they are making 26 more new episodes here, I mean Samurai Jack has not gotten past 52 episodes I think yet and this series is going to extended it, this is so exciting it is just too much for me, I can't wait.

Well this is a suprised, last I heard it was being cancelled this year. I'm assuming its because of the increased ratings it got this year?
Loved the show, some of the last few I didn't care for, the one with the rich club and the one with Eddie hiding his middle name were too mean-spirited, which Ed has been slowing turning into, enjoying the things Eddy enjoys that show him as the jerk he is, but he was supposed to be the only one of the three aside from occasional outbursts from the other two. And the rich club dragged on.
But still am glad to see it continue, hope they get past those faults.

This is great!
EEnE is one of favorite shows on CN. Any show that's good should be allowed to continue until it gets unbearably crappy.

But then it might get insanely popular, and even though the quality declines, people are still going to watch it and the show continues...
Like The Simpsons.

As I said, I don't think this will be a case of Simpsonitis, because that was largely the result of huge staff and writer changes over the years, and really too many years (there are limited number of simple concepts that can be taken in an over the top way, atleast in a small town like Springfield.) As a matter of fact, I can't think of any presidence for this kind of extension where the production staff is basically/entirely intact in US animation outside of JL:U.
Hooray.
I hope the animation style will be like the recent ads running on CN starring the three.
#1 show on CN? CN ordering new episodes? I think our chances for an EEnE movie have increased..
To anyone who is not excited for the new "enviorment".
You wanted a new season? You got it. Your not happy now? Don't watch it.
'My Opinion: Good, a needed change.

I think that school and especially new characters will be bad news for the show. Except for the Kankers, i's been the same crew since day 1. Not another character has been shown.

Well, if they think they can make the show better by expanding the environment, then more power to them. I did like last season; whether or not they can keep momentum is another question though. I guess I'll have to see next year.
I am certain they had their mind open to new ideas if ever needed - initially the show was going to end its run like Friends did, not get cancelled like Threat Matrix was.

I can say I am very happy about this! I always wanted to see what the Ed's life was like outside summer and their neighborhod. Plus, it will be funs seeing how theier personalities come through in this new setting. I can't wait for more Edd and his germophobic ways. :D

I have to say with out a doubt, this is news fans were waiting for since we heard that the show was ending. I'm not understanding the hostility for the 5th season. This is what we wanted. What we begged for, and now, everyone seems against it.
I for one am Excitied, and ready to see the new ones. I finally caught up with all the 4th season eps, and ready to see the last one (has that aired by the way?). And I think it's like Matt said, they more than likely will take place after school. And if it's Danny, Jono, Mike, Leah and the rest of them working on it, I have no problem. If it turns into a Johnny Bravo Season 2, then I will be upset.
2005. That's going to be a big year for the Eds. New Eps, 3 specials. DVD's and other stuff can't be that far behind.
BTW, I missed all of you guys. Being an Adult sucks.

Life outside of the cul-de-sac! YES! School? YES! Snow? Haven't they dealt with snow before?Eh, not really. The only few times they've dealt with "snow", was:
1. During one of Eddy's scams for a sleigh ride, where they used laundry detergent for the snow, and Double-D as the "dog."
"My colors are running, Eddy..." - Nazz
2. When Ed brought Christmas to the cul-de-sac, and the Eds started caroling. But, the snow was nothing more than Ed's dandruff, while he was scratching his head on top of Kevin's house.
3. When Eddy lost his voice because a fly lodged itself in his throat. Rolf was the interpretor, and said Eddy was "too hot and sweaty and must cool off for a bit." So they cranked up the a/c, causing the house to freeze over.
As for the 2 new seasons, I'm really excited about it, too. I am only a little worried about meeting new characters (though they may not be main characters like the current 10 crew), but it'll be nice to see the EEnE gang dealing with homework, school assignments (like a science project), and other stuff. Granted, I've loved the fact that these 4 past seasons have been over just one [long] summer, but with the summer coming to an end for them, it'll be interesting to see how Eddy, and Ed deal with those pressures...especially Ed. Anyone wanna guess just what grade he'd be in? *LOL* Unlike Double-D who'd just love to get back in class. Hell, I think just Rolf being in school and learning stuff would be a hilarious episode itself. :p
