Here are my predictions for the premieres on Miguzi for the next 2 years. Of course random acquisitions are always possible but there is also series out there that seem all but a lock for Miguzi. It's getting incredibly hard to predict what CN will do but I'll still take a stab at it.
August 2004
- SD Gundam (season 1)
September 2004
- Totally Spies (season 3)
- SD Gundam (season 2)
- Sonic X (season 1)
November 2004
- 17 episodes of Teen Titans (season 2 end + season 3)
March 2005
- 20 episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (season 2 end + part of season 3)
April 2005
- 26 more episodes of Code LYOKO
May 2005
- 13 episodes of Teen Titans
June 2005
- The Winx Club (season 1)
- Static Shock (entire series)
September 2005
- Tokyo Mew Mew (season 1)
- SD Gundam (season 3)
- Sonic X (season 2)
October 2005
- 52 episodes of Prince of Tennis
Febuary 2006
- 20 episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
March 2006
- Atomic Betty
April 2006
- 26 episodes of Code LYOKO
May 2006
- 26 episodes of Teen Titans
June 2006
- The Winx Club (season 2)
September 2006
- Tokyo Mew Mew (season 2)
- 52 episodes of Prince of Tennis
- ???? (something else could premiere but I'm not sure what)
I haven't added Kodocha or Spiral because I don't know how well they'd fit in.
I haven't added Rave Master or Duel Masters because I'm still not entirely sure they'll leave Toonami or if they do leave Toonami go to Miguzi rather than prime time or something else.
I haven't added Totally Spies season 4 because I don't know if there will be one and 3 seems like plenty, but I gave LYOKO the benefit of the doubt and gave it 3 seasons (but it will probably only get 2 if even that much.)
Kirby should be in there somewhere...

Think so? I guess maybe... It would probably be on by Fall of this year is CN was going to air it. It's been on the Fox Box since day one.

The schedule is nice, but it seems a bit... uh, what's the word... farfetched. I mean, if there was SD Gundam in August, it would probably be till October until the next SD Season started. And I doubt they would show the entire Teen Titans Season 3 in November. And from what I heard, there may be only 78 episodes of TMNT. There would not be 120 by Febuary 2006, at least for Miguzi. And I doubt it would take Static Shock till 2006 to come to Cartoon Network. I see it premiering sometime in 2005. But what do I know? I'm just kinda guessing as well. I could just be as farfetched or even moreso.

The schedule is nice, but it seems a bit... uh, what's the word... farfetched.
1) I mean, if there was SD Gundam in August, it would probably be till October until the next SD Season started.
2) And I doubt they would show the entire Teen Titans Season 3 in November.
3) And from what I heard, there may be only 78 episodes of TMNT. There would not be 120 by Febuary 2006, at least for Miguzi.
4) And I doubt it would take Static Shock till 2006 to come to Cartoon Network. I see it premiering sometime in 2005.
1) True but do they really have to air season 1 twice again? Wouldn't once be enough? It's alreadly been aired 6 or 7 times.
2) Chances are we'll get 13 more episodes of Teen Titans in Fall. They'll premiere on a once a week basis somewhere before going to Miguzi (my guess is Fridays or maybe Sunday nights) and the end of season 2 would probably air before that (I hope so anyway). It's only 17 more episodes, but there is the possibly of them holding back the finale again.
3) I've heard there will be 4 seasons (the third has just officially been annouced) but that's only 104 episodes... However TMNT could last even longer and being my favorite show I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that it will get 5 or even 6 seasons. It's popular enough. There was a lot of guess work on how many episodes Miguzi would get at a time. Somewhere between 30 or 40 seems about right. How it works is the Fox Box airs a season starting in the fall and in late winter / spring CN gets the end of the season that they aired before and some of the next season. So I did jump the gun there. It wouldn't be until 2007 before CN would have 120 available to them at that rate. So I need to space them in smaller hunks. We got 40 the first time so the next time will probably be 20-30 and then 20-30 the next time. Adding 40's will easily overcome the 26 episode seasons.
4) Most likely it will be on sooner given the last season will be done this year (I believe) so it will probably be on CN in 2005. I just kinda threw it in when there was space.

I still don't think Miguzi will get any anime but I like your Static Stock guess! Static could fill in for TT's this fall actually while they go on break from Miguzi to air the rest of S2 and then S3 elsewhere. can't have two DC superhero shows on at once and the Titans repeats do need a rest http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

Nope, its the Season 2 finale. The show is already ordered through 4 Seasons, and if it keeps up its ratings it will probably last even longer.

I don't know but sometime I would want something like:
3.0- Totally Spies(besides my better judgement)
3.5- Tokyo Mew Mew
4.0- Code Lyoko
4.5- TMNT
5.0- Shaman King
5.5- Prince of Tennis
Yeah...three hour Miguzi in da face. Actually make it more watchable.

Um, Yup, season 4 for Totally Spies is in production right now... In the latest interview with David Michel (creator of TS) has just notified us how they are not sure how Cartoon Network is planning on when or how to air season 3... when they said nearly 2-3 months ago, season 3 would be coming to cartoon network in fall 2004...

I haven't added Kodocha or Spiral because I don't know how well they'd fit in.
Spiral, though the character design is cute and the look is very shoujo with all the bishonen in it, it is a mystery driven series that's closer to Conan than Totally Spies, and since it's drawn comparison to X-Files, it ran in a Shonen mag, plus it's JCStaff production, I'd guess that the over all feel is going to be probably something closer to a Toonami show rather than a Miguzi show, atleast emotionally. It might be a good bridge for Toonami to get more female viewership (clearly bishonen can do a lot for shonen anime these days; just look and InuYasha and Naruto,) but it'd be a bit heavy (read as: Angsty) from what I've heard of Spiral.
Kodocha will depend on whether Funimation can first create a palettable dub for a show that has so much crazy, machine-gun-paced humor and dialogue. From there, it depends on whether certain jokes can be messaged out (the puppy-love romance between Akito and Sana will be largely fine given what Lyoko's set as boundries, but some of the more blue jokes will have to go,) without completely ruining some gags. It should play very well with boys and girls, because Akito and Sana are both strong and interesting enough characters to grab the people their gender and demographic. It's definetely not action-y enough for Toonami, but it's funny enough for Miguzi. Whether the animation holds up (it was animated in 1996,) compared to the digicel counter parts it'd have on the block would be another issue all to together.

I still don't think Miguzi will get any anime...
Not very much at least, and no where near as much as Toonami but there still will be some, there has to be to keep things fresh longer. I mean they are airing anime-esque shows anyway...
Don't doubt for a second Sonic X wont air on Miguzi at some point. It's too popular not to and pending on it's success so will Tokyo Mew Mew given that it's probably going to be the next Sailor Moon if 4kids doesn't tweak it too much (not changing the name is a good start, but there are still ways they could potentially ruin it).
SD Gundam seems highly probable as does Prince of Tennis. While they are clearly shows for boys they do have aspects that make them worth while to girls. Cute robots and cute preppy bisho's. Yep... they'd do just fine... especially PoT.

sd gundam, sadly, will probably come to toonami. i think it belongs on miguzi.
#1 it's for miguzi's demographic
#2 no one wants to wait a week for a new episode.

#3 it's STUPID. I said it, I feel better now. It's not a horrible show but I don't want it tainting my Toonami anymore.

SDGundam isn't a anime I think
and you seem to think Miguzi will be a 4kids dumping ground but why just because the turtles are on it  the turtles are hot with boys and girls and are american! with Static, SD, TT, TMNT, and whatever else comes down the line in US shows Miguzi will have space for them not filled by animes and don't count them out from leeching more stuff from france and canada http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

There can still be anime on Miguzi. While I like Konjiki no Gash Bell it doesn't need to be on Toonami and Miguzi would be better with it...everybody wins.

Dumping ground, no. Place to air the good (or decent) and popular Fox Box shows... yes. Sonic X is the highest rated show on the Fox Box it will be on CN eventually and why not on the highest rated kids action block? Tokyo Mew Mew has "next best thing to Sailor Moon and Totally Spies" written all over it but ya know The Winx Club might be that instead. I see no reason why they couldn't/wouldn't air both.
SD Gundam is an anime, it just aired in the US first.
Hmm, interesting choices..
No way do I see PoT going to Miguzi.. let alone Cn. I don't think sports-esque anime will do well, let alone one about Tennis, because not only is it a group to bring in girls, but also for younger kids, and I doubt PoT would keep their attention.
I think SD Gundam Season 2 and Shaman King would fall in the middle barrier, they could either lead off Toonami, or possibly fit on Miguzi. And especially if SD Gundam comes soon, I doubt Toonami would have to gundams on at once, so I'd see it on Miguzi. And Shaman King does have a girl following I believe, so I think it could work well on Miguzi, especially the 4kids version. But I could see SK leading Toonami off too, so I guess they could go either way.

Honestly I'm thinking PoT would be good for CN prime time but it could be the first show on Toonami instead.
Well now that 4kids got One Piece I suppose it's a lock for some time in Fall 2005 or Winter / Spring 2006 but only the first season +. Given it's about pirates it makes some sense to air it on a block that's got plenty of water scenery... but I wouldn't give up on a Toonami run or even CN prime time. It all depends on how Miguzi is by next year... Maybe One Piece would be too boy oriented being a shonen.

Mew Mew is only 52 episodes and then thats that its not nowhere near as long as SM and Spies. I don't know nothing about Winx but I am sure it won't have a Spies episode count. TS will keep being the big main thing since it is still in production http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif
For those not knowing things about WINX or Tokyo Mew Mew.. here's what the 4kids press release said about the said shows that are going to FOX BOX.
THE WINX CLUB - The WINX CLUB tells the story of five fantastically fashionable teenage girls who use special powers to transform into magical fairies and save the day. Influenced by the top Italian designers, the series ties together key girls topics of love, friendship, magic, music and fasion. Master toy licensee Mattel is schedueled to debut it's magical line of dolls and accessories this fall. The toy line is expected to be complimented by video games and trading cards specifically designed and engineered for girls, as well as exciting fashion, apparel, shoes, accessories, stationery and jewelry to debut in Spring '05.
TOKYO MEW MEW - This japanese animated property follows the adventures of five girls who possess the powers of endangered animals. They must battle aliens who want to destroy mankind - when they're not busy with homework and boyfriends, that is. 52 half hour episodes are in production and a licensing program ins planned to launch in 2005.
I have to say, both sound like very girl oriented material, and probably would work on Miguzi. I think they would fit nicely now that I know a bit about them.

Hey King, I wouldn't count sports anime out yet. Some of the best/popular anime is sports. I guarantee you watch one of Makunouchi's fights on Hajime no Ippo and you'll be punching the air soon after.

That may be true, I was just pointing out the cons of putting sports anime on Miguzi. It's still pretty risky putting it on CN period, I mean Hikaru no Go is popular in Japan, but I don't see audiences in the US really gravitating to an anime centering around a board game.
I had intended to watch Ippo, just never got the time, and then it got licensed. Whatever CN would pick for sports anime it would have to be very good, like Ippo, or how about Slam Dunk? ;)
I just don't see PoT being attractive right now in the era of how Sports Animes are accepted in the US.. and especially putting it on Miguzi, I don't see that. Primetime possibly in a few years, should CN decide to dabble in sports animes.. Just not now.

I can assure you that if PoT is a success, it won't be because of the tennis.

I think Miguzi is the dumping ground for non-anime action shows. Just so happens that they have an anime flair to them. I wanted Astroboy to go to Miguzi to at least get something that's watchable on there. Also, I'm confused, what is the relationship between 4Kids and Miguzi anyways? It seems everyone automatically assumes their shows will go to Miguzi, but the only current show I see on there is TMNT, can someone explain?
Karl Olson
06-09-2004, 12:00 PM
I think Miguzi will eventually get anime, however, they are going to pick up stuff that is girl friendly first and foremost. Boys will sit around through romantic angst and cutesy character designs if there is atleast some action and/or comedy (Sailor Moon is proof of that.) However, Toonami has proven that girls have no interest in hardcore shonen action (YYH, DBZ, RK, Gundams.)
Now, though Tokyo Mew Mew is the hands of 4Kids, the fact is that it should have no problem holding the target audience of kids 6-11, as long as the dub is atleast Shaman King-grade. It's not a particularly heavy show, it's got some laughes, it's got magical transformations and attacks, so it should be a natural candidate for as Sailor Moon for the 2000's. The larger question is whether 4Kids learned from the mistakes of DiC and Nelvana, IE: over-americanization = dead property, but the fact that they relented and went back to Tokyo Mew Mew suggests they'll atleast be keeping more of the basics then anyone intially thought.
Winx, by virtue of being another case of European animation in the style of anime (like Lyoko and Spies!) should be a lock for Miguzi as long as the story is atleast some what interesting. It doesn't seem to be so girly as to preclude boys, so that can't be an issue either (plus, even the 1980's saturday morning girls' cartoons ended with a surprisingly cross-demographic fanbase, though no boy would admit it.)
Throw in a could of possible curveballs (ADV's got a lot of shoujo that could use the extra exposure, and I still think Kodocha stands a chance) and Miguzi could easily be half anime by the summer of next year (shoot, just Tokyo Mew Mew and Kodocha would do that.)
Andrew T. Hingson

Well I for one still think Shaman King and maybe One Piece will end up early on Toonami at some point (probably not One Piece because by then Toonami should be mainly teenage demo stuff) but the two girls shows seem a lock for Miguzi because it's the best place for them if 4kids wants to rerun them on another outlet (given they don't have a weekday afternoon block) because KWB wont want them and if CN got them then Miguzi would be their most likely home given they are girls action shows.
Sonic X I assume will be on Miguzi because Miguzi is highlighted by hit shows and Sonic X is currently the highest rated program on the Fox Box (TMNT is second). It'll without a doubt be on CN and I don't think they'd put it on Toonami when feels much more like a Miguzi show and given that Sonic is a hot property that non-anime viewers are well aware of and 4kids will want it on the highest profile block as possible... it seems all but a lock for Miguzi. It could very well end up in reruns on KWB's afternoons but Miguzi just seems more likely.

if they do go for anime for Miguzi they SO need to hit up ADV for Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch :) :) :) thats 52 episodes right there and its still going now as Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure (what a long title to try and fit into a promo) :) I know its ADV but being mermaids and for girls it would SO fit Miguzi :)

If they are gonna hit up ADV for an anime with a lot Ps in the title, I'd rather see them get Pretty Princess Yucie (aka Puchi Puri Yucie.) It's FLCL for the 6-11 set.

I will miss her. Anyway, I guess CN wouldn't air new eps of JL *and* JLU at the same time.:(
