It's been many months since the last contest, which was won by our German friend "Wundermild", so it's high time we had another. For those of you who don't remember, the contest was for a 2-hour tape of any rare cartoons the winner wanted (provided that they were in my collection, which consists of nearly all the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies, most MGM cartons, and a few from other studios). The prize is the same this time, but the contest itself will be very different...

I have created a montage of 50 pictures. The winner will be the person who can identify the most people out of the 50. Here are the guidelines:

1) To enter the contest, you must e-mail me with a numbered list of the people you have identified (the images are already numbered).

2) You can only send one e-mail. That means that you have to be 100% sure you've identified as many people as possible before you send in your entry. If you suddenly remember who picture #34 is of, but you sent in your entry 2 days ago, you're out of luck.

3) All entries must be sent to brian@toonzone.net no later than Sunday, November 4th, at 11:59 PM eastern time. No private messages!

4) Toon Zone Forums administrators, moderators, or any other Toon Zone personnel are not eligible. You guys can still e-mail an entry, but only for fun.

5) The winner will be notified within 24 hours of the contest's end. The winner must supply a mailing address so that the tape can be mailed.

6) Void were prohibited. I dont know what that means, but that's always included in contest rules, so there it is.

[Note: A 7th Rule has been added. See the post after the image.]

And now, withour further ado, here is the montage!

Oh yes, one more very important rule...

7) In order to enter, you must be a member of the Toon Zone Forums as of the moment I posted this thread! Please include your TZ Forums ID along with your entry. I want the tape to go to an existing member of the community, not an outsider.

2 Q's:

a. how many do you expect to be identified by a single individual (this reeks of collabration)

b. how drunk WAS #30 when the pic was taken?

a. Maybe in the 30-40 range. I don't expect anyone to get them all. I'm probably the only one who could, since I had to think about which pictures to include. Consider this a peek into my demented mind. Care to say how many you can ID?

b. I plead the fifth.

Now about a note each time 10 more are correctly ID'd (without saying which were named)?

so, has anyone gotten

10 right?

20 right?

30?

40?

and, congratualtions on a truly bizarre collection - you HAVE been taking your medicine, right? ;)

I won't be counting anyone's answers until the contest is over. I don't want to discourage anyone from entering because they can't beat someone else's total.

Thanks. I tried to span as many eras and walks of life as possible, so that no single person would be likely to know them all. I have to admit, I get a big smile whenever someone correctly guesses #47. If you only you knew the extent of my obsession with that particular lady. It took me an hour just to decide which of my many pictures of her to use...

Encouragement from last time's successor: Living in Central Yurop and having European cultural background mainly, I am able to identify about seven of them. Well, maybe seven-and-a-half. Certainly not more. So, bad chances for me this time. Good luck everybody, I'm outta here ...

(just kidding)

I browsed through the entries I've received so far, and there are two interesting trends:

1. Nobody knows who #6 is.

2. Everybody knows who #12 is.

Those are the only two pictures I can say that about. Fascinating.

#12 is the ONLY one known to all!!!!?

now I am starting to worry about this generation...

the only one bothering me is 21 - I KNOW that pic! just can't remember it (blame on age...)

"Starting"? :) Considering how old he is, I'm surprised that everyone's gotten him. I was expecting #44 to be the most recognizable. Who are you shocked that not everyone knows?

#21's ID rate so far has been about 50%. I wish I could help, but you'll just have to wait till Sunday night when I reveal the answers.

absolute minimun - 37, 42

really, really should - 10, 45

probably should - 1, 7, 16, 18, 20

44? maybe without the glasses - as is, if you don't know the costume (I don't), just guess

I can wait...

if you do this again -

a. WE WANT POOH!

b. how about deducting, say, half a point, for wrong answers? keep the little buggers honest...

Every body knows who #6 is! He's not a number he's a freeman! #6 is the prisoner :D

As long as I can tell who you mean, I'll accept less-than-perfect spelling.

Pardon me Brian, but do we have to post what cartoons we want (in case we win) when we send you our answers? And do you have your collection posted somewhere so we could see just what you have?

No, I only need a list from the actual winner once he's announced.

As for my collection, it's much easier to say what I don't have instead of what I do have. I have all but three of the original LT&MMs (not counting special shorts, though I have most of those too). There are about a dozen I only have edited copies of, and five I only have colorized copies of. My MGM collection consists mainly of the cartoons found on the various laserdisc releases (Art of T&J 1-3, Compleat Tex Avery, Happy Harmonies). I also have most Disney features, like Song of the South, and uncut copies of Make Mine Music, Saludos Amigos, and Melody Time. I don't have many Disney shorts though. I have a text file somewhere that lists every cartoon I have individually, which I'll send to the winner if (s)he requests it.

I love the inclusion of #43, I nearly cried when I saw it. Seriously, where did you find that picture?

Well, I gave it a shot! Somehow, I don't think I beat anyone here, but I'll do ANYthing leagal, ethical, and all-kinds-of-stuff-like-that-there-al to get some rare cartoony stuff!

Do witty parenthetical comments count for anything? ;)
