Series producer Bruce Timm recently talked to Comics Continuum about the threat..
"With all the alien technology, we had a really hard time trying to come up with something we hadn't done before or something that hadn't been seen a zillion times before," Justice League producer Bruce Timm said.
"And during the initial development process, we kind of keyed in on the old illustrator Richard Powers. So all of the stuff sort of has a slightly Richard Powers-eque look to it."
Richard Powers was a sci-fi illustrator in the 1950's and 60's.
The aliens attempt to overtake the Earth in the pilot episode, which brings Martian Manhunter to the public eye to help Earth's heroes beat down these foes. Not only that, but the aliens also get inside Superman's head, which cause visions for the Man of Steel. Images courtesy of Cartoon Research.
