Hanna-Barbera always has an ace up its sleeves when it comes to producing new films from their vintage library. Scooby-Doo has enjoyed a generous amount of newly animated feature films that bring the show into a whole new universe of non-repeated environments and a lack of Three Stooges. And now it's the Flintstone's turn.
This Saturday marks the premiere of the brand new animated Flintstones feature, Flintstones On the Rocks, to Cartoon Network's Cartoon Theatre.
The movie is a special labor of love, produced by none other than (most of) the production staff of the Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory, adopting the style of the Flintstones bumpers you may have seen in the past.
The movie was produced by Chris Savino, who was a veteran SPUMCO layout designer and animation artist for Dexter/PPG, as well as covers for the Dexter comic books, and Dave Smith, who was an animator for Dexter's Laboratory, and created the almost legendary episode, "Just an Old-Fashioned Lab Song", guest starring Paul Williams.
Flintstones On the Rocks airs Saturday, November 2nd, at 7 PM, as part of Cartoon Network's Cartoon Theatre. If you're a Flintstones fan, don't miss it. And even if you aren't, you should give it a chance as well.
