DC Comics announced earlier last week that Scott Beatty will be the new writer for Batman: Gotham Knights as of issue #32. The Comics Continuum website recently talked tot he writer, who co-penned Robin: Year One with Chuck Dixon. DC plans to release that mini-series in a collected form in 2002.
"I'm very much looking forward to exploring the possibilities with Bat-Editor Lysa Hawkins and penciler Roger Robinson," Beatty told the website.
"I couldn't be happier than to have Batman: Gotham Knights lined up as my next assignment at DC Comics," Beatty said to the Comics Continuum. "After making contributions to the Bat-Universe on a 'hit-and-run' basis for a few years now, it's nice to settle down in Gotham City for what I hope is a lengthy stay.
"And the 'team' focus of GK affords me the opportunity to tell a variety of tales: Batman solo or Batman and Robin or Robin and Nightwing...or the whole Bat-Squad. Gotham Knights offers almost limitless permutations."
