Back in late 1998, when I discovered this website, if you would have told me that I was going to be an active Graphic Designer, Webmaster, & Administrator for 4 years, I would’ve called you delusional. I’ll try to keep this short as possibly, as not to bore you, at least not too much. Over the years I’ve had a lot of fun, made lots of friends, progressed my skills, occasionally ran into a few problems, but overall I had a good experience. In the past year or so my free time has been cut to a minimum. I used to work on the site all the time, but after I got a real job, time got cut back. For a while it was all I could do to edit and run my online comic book. I recently graduated from High School and plan on going immediately into college this fall. Those of you that have gotten to know me will agree to the fact that I’m a huge NHRA Powerade Drag Racing fan. This is where my career goals lie, as I would like to dive into the business side of my favorite sport. Unfortunately coloring, editing, and maintaining an online comic book, running it’s website, as well as making graphics for another animation site, do not lend themselves in any way towards my career plan. I know that once I start school I won’t have the time to do this stuff and frankly as I dive into my career, my heart just isn’t into the site like it should be. So I have decided to hang it up. Effective immediately I will be leaving the World’s Finest. I don’t foresee myself coming back. I’ve given a good two months of thought into this decision.
Some of you may be wondering what will happen to my online comic book, the Dark Knight Adventures. I am giving the day-to-day editing keys to James McLean (SJJ). I will stay on with the title of Founder & Executive Editor. Technically I’m still onboard, but it will not be to the extent of what it has been in the past. I’ll still be in charge, as I don’t want to overwhelm and kill my good buddy James; I just won’t be around as often as before. Bird Boy has graciously agreed to upload new issues, as well as maintain the website. James has also agreed to post all the site announcements and talkbacks that coincide with every new issue. He will also be sending out the new issue announcements to eNOTE subscribers. The position of colorist is still vacant, but for the next issue one of the Toon Zone founders, Eileen "Harley" Delgadillo, will fill the position. The Dark Knight Adventures is in good hands, folks.
This isn’t all just about me, though. I’ve got to tell you about the good people that work on this site. Jim Harvey & Bird Boy have become two of the greatest friends a guy could ever want. I don’t know how he does it, but I’ll bet you money that Bird Boy puts in 30 WF work-hours a week. Working with these two guys, making new versions of the site was an absolute blast. I’ll always cherish our crazy WF Chats, Waannda. James McLean, what else can I say, this guy is awesome. His story telling, artwork, you name it is impeccable, but not only that his friendship is one I’ll always cheerish. Dark Knight Adventures wouldn’t be where it is today with out him. Silver Knight will always be a great friend. I think she is one of the few that I’ve kept in touch with nearly my entire time at this site. Keep those cookies coming, SK. Salvor, I know that DKA’s covers will always look sharp! I don’t know what we would’ve done had he not volunteered to do our covers! I also need to thank Toon Zone’s “big three,” Brian, Harley, & Colin. Without these kind folks this site would not be here. I know I’m not thanking everybody I’ve met and became friends with, but there wouldn’t be enough bandwidth in the world to tell you about them all. Thank God that I was able to meet all these cool people.
I hope everybody has enjoyed my contributions to this site, I know I had fun making them …well most of them. If you are curious as to what these contributions are, look at the biography section in my public profile. All good things must come to an end, I guess. I still plan on keeping up with everybody, probably browse through the forums every so often, but I am honestly glad that the work load is over! If you’ve read this far into the post, thanks! I’ll see you all around.
