It's a darn good show with some darn good flash animation. The comedy beats are tight, and I'd swear that Joe Alaskey is channeling Mel Blanc. I'll be keeping my eye on this...

Since Jones was one of Tex Avery's art guys back in the thirties, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that it's a bit reminiscent of his old boss' work (cf. the timber wolf gag in "Land of the Midnight Fun", and the gag in at least one Droopy short where Spike chopped down a tree, intending it to crush Droopy, ran out about ten miles into a clearing, and..."Tim--" [tree falls on him; in choked voice] "--ber."). The bit with the tape player was one of the best ones, and the line at the end killed me! I can almost relate....
Anyone know how I can see "A Tale to Tell", the previous Timber short? I can't seem to load it....

Wow, that was very cool!

BTW, how old is Chuck Jones?

Chuck Jones recently turned 89, I believe. I enjoyed this second effort too, better than the first short. I think if this catches on it'll be a great hit. It's very close to the spirit of the original Looney Tunes, the voices are good, and, more importantly, it's not Looney Tunes, meaning that they don't have to worry about stereotyping and bad voicework. It's very original, I think, though this one did resemble Avery's MGM "Deputy Droopy" in the final scene. And I'll agree, Joe Alaskey is very good, he's been doing LT's Daffy, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, Tweety, Speedy Gonzales and several others in recent years, and they're the closest I've heard to Blanc's. But Billy West's Bugs Bunny and whoever is doing Foghorn Leghorn...yick.

I liked the second one a little more than the first as well. I like that it isn't like Looney Tunes. It has a feel all it's own that is sort of looney tuney, but not really. It's going to make an identity for itself! I'm also glad Thomas isn't a Wile E. Coyote clone, and that the tree falling stuff is secondary to everything else. I also really like the theme song:D

I honestly think it would be better if it didn't set itself up so much. I think maybe just reading a one-line disclaimer beforehand would be sufficient, like:

"Timberwolf is the story about a person whose name can cause any nearby(or far away) form of lumber to come down upon his head."

Instead of taking 2 minutes out of our time to allow him to explain it in very very unnecessary detail.

It's the bane of cartoons. Not many people like a pilot, because it's hard to really introduce characters correctly without doing it too forcefully. Sadly, Timberwolf's was very forceful. I think the audience would've found it funnier if it were more sprung on them.
