I read some very good things about this show, and I found vol.1 with box for cheap at Best Buy. It sounds pretty kick arse.

Has anyone here seen it? What is your opinion on the show?

I too saw the box. I've been meaning to get it, but I saw it popup on the animenetwork about a week ago. All I need now is some spare time.

Get the show. Now. I've gotten the first 3 DVDs, and it's easily the best show I've seen in a very, very long time. Both the Japanese and English tracks are spectacular, so you win either way. It's a very thought provoking show, yes, but it's also entertaining. It isn't bogged down with needless fights or fanservice, either. I'll admit, the concept ("Wanderer and a talking motorcycle have misadventures!") sounds incredibly stupid, but it couldn't be more misleading. You won't regret this one.

The box is pretty flimsy, and a thin, fake licensce plate is lame, so I wouldn't bother with the box, though ^^;

I like this series very much, and it has a much more serene feel than the vast majority of the anime you will come across. Compare it more to something like Haibane Renmei or Yokohama Shopping Log, because Kino's Journey like these series can take an abnormal setup and make it feel so believable, down to earth, and even charming. I guess you could call it a slice of an abnormal life, and in such a beautiful world.

Great series, I love this show, this show needs some more pub...

I've got it. I believe the phrase "Lain on a motorbike" best describes the show.

I have seen the first two episodes (waiting for Anime Network to update) and Kino's Journey looks very impressive. The premise threw me off a bit regarding the bike, but from my limited perspective it looks quite interesting. Great animation as well.

I guess I have to pop up and be the naysayer here, but I saw the first disc of Kino's Journey and hated it. The characters have no motivation, the pointless plots move slow as molasses, and I didn't find the animation or character designs particularly good. Some folks will point out the "thought-provoking" themes as the series' strong point, but personally, I found it to have a flavor best described as "philosophy lite." Example: In one episode, Kino engages in a long, slow-moving monologue debating with himself (herself?) on the topic of whether it's morally acceptable to kill a rabbit, all delivered by the English VA in the most mind-numbing monotone possible, before finally concluding that it is, indeed, okay to kill for food, but without giving any reasoning for reaching that conclusion. Blargh.

But then again, I'm the guy who didn't like Lain, so if you're really into that sort of hyper-intellectual uber-monotone type of thing, mine might not be the best advice to take.

How long was this monologue anyway?

I didn't like Lain as much either.

I understand Mynd Hed's point of view. For the first two episodes of Kino's journey....it really is boring and lame. The motivations and personalities are trite. It didn't remind me of lain, but more of king of bandit jing. Wandering person with annoying sidekick. Jing at least had a soundtrack and more amusing moments.

The third episode is really the kicker. The slow monotone is annoying, but it is the storylines that start to bring you in. They are quite brilliant, I can't really tell why without spoiling it, but trust me, if you don't like it by the third episode, you never will. If you can't handle the monotone, i wouldn't reccomend buying it.

This anime was a sleeper hit to me. I only picked up since I saw a trailer of it on the 1st Abenobashi DVD. I'm glad I did. I really liked everything about it. Although I would not recommend it to people who love action.

I watched about 5 minutes of it and then turned it off. I didn't like Kino's VA and the characters weren't interesting me.
