The reverse of tvisland's "Greatest cartoon opening" post; which cartoon(s) do you think has the greatest ending?

The Road-runner cartoon where Wile E. falls from a cliff, he holds up a sign that says, "Howabout ending the cartoon before I hit?'' The Iris appears and the coyote holds up a "Thank You" sign. It's not great, but it's funny.

Mine is the end of Porky the Giant Killer.

The ending of "What's Opera, Doc?" may seem a little overdone but it is effective and somewhat wryly amusing ("What did ya expect in opera? A HAPPY ending?").
Other endings I like...
"Dough Ray Me-ow" where it looks like Heathcliff really IS dying but decides to live when his last spirit overhears of the money to be inherited inviting the others back into his body. "If I can't take it with me, I'm not goin'." The idea of a character that can CHOOSE whether he lives or dies tickles my funny bone in a big way.
"Socko in Morocco" - where it looks like Buzz really is going to get the girl Woody is supposed to protect but changes his mind when he sees how hideous she is. He gladly gives the girl back to Woody who then, unbeknownst to Buzz, removes the lady's "ugly mask" revealing her true beauty and then starts blissfully kissing her. Buzz then turns around but, not knowing the lady really is beautiful, looks on in disgust saying disdainfully, "Some guys will kiss ANYBODY!"
"Spree Lunch" - Popeye and Bluto have had it with each others' competitive antics and start hurling EVERYTHING in their respective restaurants at each other, including tons of food. Wimpy, not wanting to pass something like this up, steals a table being hurled and sets it down then starts stealing various foods from the melee and devouring each one. The ending's best bit: Wimpy steals a hamburger but, not wanting to a hamburger sans ketchup, promptly steals a flying ketchup bottle and dumps its contents onto said burger. He then places the bottle BACK into the air and it continues on its way back to Bluto's diner!

"Soup or Sonic"
Wile E. Coyote catches the Road Runner (albeit in alterted form) and doesn't know what to to with him!
"Million Dollar Cat" (MGM Tom and Jerry)
Tom says "I'm throwin' away a million dollars...BUT I'M HAPPY!!!" and starts to wreck the house in pursuit of Jerry.
"A Horesefly Fleas"
"As long as they're gonna chase me, I might as well get paid for it!"
"What's Opera Doc"
Great because it's so different...and the snappy one-liner helps.
"Duck Dodgers in the 24-1/2th Century"
The 3 characters are all hanging on to what's left of Planet X, and when Daffy claims the dirt clod, Porky remarks "B-b-b-big deal!"
"Speedy Ghost to Town"
-I know, I know...but its ending amuses me. Daffy, after all that meanness, actually does an old-fashioned "woohoo! woohoo!" off into the distance, after finding that the gold was only cheese.

I love that one too. Here's some that I really like:
"Pop-Pie Ala Mode"-The scene towards the end where Popeye throws the cannibal leader into the oceans with hungry sharks, but the cannibal takes out a fork and knife and starts chasing them!
"Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow"-Buzzy (after wrecking up the house) shows Katnip in a mirror that his remedy really did cure his baldness, and the cat happily walks to his girlfriend's house, unknowing that Buzzy has cut off the Katnip's hair off of his rear end! "Could it be this breeze..."
"Woody the Giant Killer"-Woody defeats the dopey giant (which only took about two minutes of the picture) and turns his castle into a hotel, making the giant the bellboy. Woody goes wacky all of a sudden, doing his trademark laugh, pecking the desk, and getting his beak stuck in an ink jar!
"The Mad Hatter"-You gotta love Woody taking out his anger on someone over the stupid hat that cost him his job. He walks into the dream cloud with his dream girl, and shoves the hat on her head!

Russian Rhapsody: I don't know why, I just like the way if flows.
Chow Hound: I know it's been mentioned, but that has got to be one of the greatest endings ever!
Haredevil Hare, when Bugs gives a statement of "GET ME OUTA HERE!"
Daffy Doodles: It's funny when Daffy says "I'm on to beards now!" and paints out the screen, rather than having an iris out.
Curtain Razor/Show Biz Bugs: "Yeah, but I can only do it once!"

There's a lot of great, creative endings I can't recall right now, but here's one:
The ending of A TALE OF TWO KITTIES - "TURN OUT THAT LIGHT!"
The surprise ending to DUCK AMUCK.

Not the greatest, but one of my favorites is Itch in Time. My favorite suicide gag(the flow there is perfect).

Wow, I'm surprised nobody mentioned any of the great Foghorn Leghorn cartoon endings:
Walky Talky Hawky- "One of these things, I say, one of these things has GOT to be a chicken!!"
A Fractured Leghorn- "when I'm told to shut up, I shut up- not like some folks, I shut up- (Iris out starts) one time my paw told me to shut up, and I shut up- (grabs iris and holds it back) Darn near starved to death, WOULDN'T TELL HIM I WAS HUNGRY!!" (lets iris close out)
Tin Pan Alley Cats- "Well, whot's de madder wit heemm??" BEEE-YOOOOP!!
The Old Grey Hare- Bugs handing Elmer the dynamite stick, the cartoon irises out, and the explosion shakes the title card.
Which is Witch- (WB) the face Bugs makes during the iris out... "Very becoming short stuff- kind of gives you that NEW look"... (ughhhh)....
Porky's Movie Mystery- When Mr. Motto pulls off the mask and reveals who the invisible man is.... great joke!!
Book Review- "STOP THAT DANCING UP THERE!!" (screeeech!!).... "you sillies"..... BEEE-YOOOP!!
Thad Komorowski

"Sufferin' Cats" (MGM)-Please Make All Deliveries in Rear "Yeow! OW! AHH! WAHH!"
"Hare Ribbin'"-(Dog holds iris out) "This shouldn't even happen to a dog!" (Dog lets go of iris and slams on his nose) "OUCH!"
"The Leghorn Blows at Midnight"-"Come on chicken! Come on pheasant! I don't care who wins, I'll fricasee the loser!"
"Smitten Kitten"-"Every time a dame pops into my life..." (Female mouse devil appears) "it's trouble! Why...........and what's wrong with dames?" (Zooms over to girl)

In a classic Tom and Jerry short, Tom's all panicked after hearing about an explosive white mouse on the loose, and Jerry, covered in white ink, taunts him all through the picture. Tom catches the real mouse, thinking it's Jerry, and panics...until he hears on the radio that the mouse is not explosive after all. So he prepares to kick it out the door. When he kicks it in the butt, it goes off. The radio repeats that the mouse is not explosive. Tom, looking worse for the wear, emerges from the rubble of the house at the very end, and says, in a tinny loud voice, "Don't you believe it!"
The ending to Ben Hardaway's "Panty Panic. "You know what? I'm still hungry." Woody's voice deepens as he replies to the cat, "Yeah? Me too." That gets me every time.
The ending of Tex Avery's "Hollywood Steps Out". "Fancy meeting you here!" I've heard tell the original script/storyboards included Gable shrugging and kissing Groucho, but either Warner brass or Rhett Butler himself wouldn't stand for it.
The ending of "Dangerous Dan McGoo", in which Droopy actually goes wild and whoops after Red kisses him, then returns to his usual somber tone. "You know what? I'm happy." Also the ending of "Homesteader Droopy"--"Sorry to have to do this to you, ma'am...but it's the law of the West. "

I agree with most of what's been said, but what about:
The Wacky Wabbit - "Euweka! Gold at Wast! Heheheheheh."
Robin Hood Daffy
Zoom and Bored
The Abominable Snow-Rabbit
Porky Pig's Feat
Fool Coverage

I think Bacall to Arms ending was good. He said: "My oh My, I can work for Mr. Benny now!!" That was funny

There are several cartoon endings that I like. Here are some of the following:
THE HOLE IDEA (WB): After the scientist gets his portable holes back from the cops, he says "Crime doesn't pay." His wife tells him that the way he has been ignoring her was a crime and walks off. The scientist throws a hole in her direction and she falls through it all the way to Hell. Satan pops up with the wife in his hands and says, "Isn't it bad enough down here without her?"
DER FUEHER'S FACE (DISNEY): The ending scene features Hitler's face shown on screen with a tomato splatting him and spelling out THE END.
THE BLITZ WOLF (MGM): A bomb sends Hitler straight to Hell. Hitler asks himself if he is where he thinks he is and several Satans say "Mmmm, could be!"

Mine would be BUGS AND THUGS:
Bugs (in Sherlock Holmes hat): "Bugs Bunny - private eyeball..."
other favorite endings:
Hare Trigger
Baseball Bugs
Daffy's Southern Exposure
Rabbit Fire
The Million Hare
Picador Porky
Porky the Gob
Scaredy Cat
(forgot the title) - the one with Wile E.'s head between the two grenades, which form into "The End" signs

"Lickety-Splat". That was a good one.
A few more:
Falling Hare
The Mouse That Jack Built
I forget the title, but it features Bugs dressed like Ed Norton, and he says to Elmer "Here, have a cigar [with a Groucho Marx mustache and glasses attached]. Gee, what a Groucho."
And perhaps one of the best LT endings ever:
My Little Duckaroo ("Lucky for him, it is a one-horse town.") Curse CN for cutting it!

"My Little Duckaroo - Lucky for him it is a one-horse town!"
This was "Dripalong Daffy," not "My Little Duckaroo."

HOCKEY HOMICIDE (Goofy, 1945)
This hilarious cartoon builds up to the final 2 minutes, where all-out mayhem ensues; Doodles Weaver's announcing gets faster and faster! Also, the scenes are intercut with shots from other sports Goofy shorts, airplanes, and Monstro the Whale! Eventually, it is the spectators who have a brawl while the players themselves watch!
"And that's why hockey is called a spectator's sport!
Other endings I like include several cartoons where Donald Duck loses his mind as the cartoon fades out, which include:
-Drip Dippy Donald (especially this one!)
-Donald's Crime
-Clown of the Jungle
-Winter Storage
Funny, funny stuff!

Shame on me for missing those titles (especially "Dripalong Daffy"; that ending is a classic).
Good call on "Hockey Homicide", Popeye. I was gonna list it earlier, but it slipped my mind. That was an ending.

I would say my favorite is the ending to either "Canary Row" or "His Bitter Half" (WB, both 1950). It might just be the music that gets me though.
