(read the title...)
I can never get to sleep each night, I always end up staying till like 3 AM and I'm still not tired!
Then I finally get sleepy at around 4:30 AM or something but then I end up waking up late in the afternoon (usually anywhere from 1 PM- 3 PM.)
It's not like I have a job or anything important to do but I'd like to go to sleep and wake up at normal hours...
How do I cure my insomnia? :(

I've got about the same problem and I have yet to find a way to deal with it.

Tried going to the doctor? My mom had the same problem and I know there's some type of sleep pill to take to help out.
Also, are you eating or drinking anything in particular in the later hours? You should really not try to have anything around two hours before you're planning on going to sleep. You might not realize it, but you may be eating or drinking something that keeps keeping you awake each night. Soda is normally the most common culprit.
You could also try to keep the house dark after a certain time of the night. Lots of lamps and tvs on will keep you awake because of their light. So as you get closer to bed time it could help to turn down the volume of the tv, turn off or dim the lights, etc.
Those are all the things I know of that keep some people awake.

Simply Sleep Tylonal knocks you out pretty quickly, and it supposedly isn't addictive. There's always home remedies, like warm milk.
I think the best thing to do would to turn off the TV/computer, anything that stimulates a lot, and just relax. Read a book in bed or something like that, it usually does it for me. Or, exhaust yourself during the day so that you fall asleep earlier.

All three of those have failed to work for me, repeatedly, although I haven't tried resorting to drugs yet.
At this point, maybe I should just try a big damned hammer.

Oh I know....you somehow set your body like that. Your body is following that routine everyday, maybe because you tryed to stay up(with or without intension) like three days in a row and as it became easier your body set THAT as the daily function. Basically...you're used to falling alseep and waking up in that same pattern.
Your screen name is Caffeine King... perhaps you should settle for just the Earl of Caffeine to get yourself to sleep.

Never happened to me before so this might sound like a stupid suggestion. Do something that keeps you from becoming lazy and mainly doing things that make you busy. Stupid suggestion huh?
Insomnia, huh?
I've heard sleep is a good cure for that.

Your problem could be you getting up so late. Maybe you should try waking up more earlier.

I don't think I've really had insomnia, but I do sometimes get out of synch and can't force myself to go back to sleeping normal human hours.
This is what works for me, but I do not suggest it for anyone not in perfect health, or even anyone else.
I just skip one nights sleep entirely, no going to bed at all, usually I'm not missing much anyhow. Then I keep to a schedule with no sleeping late, no sitting there half dozing.

I used to have insomnia really bad 2 years ago. I almost went insane because of it as well. To cure it I would eat a really big dinner and lay down on my bed and eventually I would fall asleep within a half an hour. Wasn't fun but I got over it.:)

Try this; before you lay down, tune your stereo to a station (lite rock & r&B seem to work best) and set the volume so low you can only make out the song being played if you lay perfectly still.

I have the same problem, only I'm up until 3 am at the earliest. Heck, I can hear the birds before I finally manage exhaust myself into falling asleep  I won't do pills, though.

Hey, Caffiene King, I was just wondering, have you found any cures yet? I mean you got a lot of suggestions.

Y'know, I don't think anyone mentioned this, but if you aren't exaggerating and you're life is taking a hit because of exhaustion, you should probably see a doctor. Resorting to drugs isn't my favorite thing to do either, but if that's the best way to help you, then so be it. That's my 2 cents, at least.
To our friend, how much? 6 or 7 cups of coffee a day will do exactly what you describe...Can you get down to 2 or 3?? A big meal may, help, but if it is that much caffeen, you got to drink less...And you know it is addictive...I took caffeen pills to contradict some meds that were putting me to sleep..I got hooked on those pills...There was a time, in l995, when I was forced by circumastances, to go off of caffeen completely, and immediately. Try reducing slowly the amount you take, cutting back 10% a week, so it will gradually leave your system and you will avoid the terrible withdrawal that may accompany stopping this abrubtly like I did. .........................Also, bananas, turkey, cheese, and icecream, contain a natural substance called tryptophane, which relaxes a person. Another trick, is warm milk, it has tryptohane too...I heard a sleep doctor give a speech on this topic...another trick is 3 tablespoons of sugar in a glass of warm water, drink that before you try to go to sleep..He said that that will help. Oh well that is the best I can do Good luck..STuart.

I went to the doctor for my sleep problems, and they have helped to an extent. I feel like I'm getting a full night's sleep now at least.
First, don't use the bed for anything but sleep. Don't read in it, don't watch TV in it, don't eat in it. A bed should be your holy temple of sleep and nothing else.
Second, if at all possible try going to bed at the same time every night. If it's 2am 4 nights a week and you don't have to be up that early on the rest of the days, go to bed at 2am every night. A regular sleep pattern is very important.
Third, cut down on activity before bed. You don't want to be over-stimulated before going to sleep, so exercise right before bed is a big no. Also, watching TV or reading are No's depending on what it is. You need your brain to be calm for sleep.
Forth, try to avoid drinking/eating too much before bed. A 2 to 4 hour window should be enough time for your body to process stuff, otherwise you won't be comfortable enough to sleep. On the same token, use the bathroom right before you go to bed to make sure you're "Empty."
Finally, cut down on the amount of light andd noise in your room during sleep. Shut off your computer if it's in your room, make sure any other "minor lights" are off as well. These can include caller ID, answering machines, TVs or VCRs with standby lights along with other entertainment equipment. Turn around you alarm clock if it has light on it. this one thing alone can keep you awake by making you a clock watcher, and the light on it can affect your sleep pattern. Also, if you do sleep during the day, think about investing in a blackout curtain or at least close the curtains as to not let as much light in, also close your bedroom door to avoid any light outside your room. Light is one of sleep's biggest enemies, and by cutting back on it you can imprive your sleep.

Oh great! Now I have it. I haven't been able to sleep for four days in a row. It sucks cause I can't fall asleep and then when I do, I have to get up 5:30 in the morning for summer school. I have to stop drinking tea.

If you really have not had any sleep for four days, then get two or three hours, and returen to not sleeping two or three days in a row, please see a doctor. Many other conditions can cause two or three days in a row without sleep, but if it happens coninuously, it should, I believe, treated medically....goodl luck, Stuart

I think you've just made yourself a weird sleeping pattern going to sleep later waking up later. I used to do stuff like this usually during summers. I would have a hard time adjusting to school again. By the time I got to college I was....tired of it. To fix it I just set a certain time to wake up everyday no matter what 6:30am I would just try to get to sleep 15 minutes earlier every night. If you go to sleep at 3:00 next night 2:45 then 2:30 etc. until you get to whatever time you want.

Like King of Winds said, try the Weather Channel, or any TV station that airs "Easy Listining"/Elevatior music. That allways helps me.

I like your suggestion. LoL:D .
Listening to the rain usually helps me fall asleep or some kind of pouring of water sound.

Geez, no wonder you call yourself Caffeine King  I don't really know how to help you ( If you haven't been helped in the past 4 pages, that is  ), but I do know you're going through. I do the same thing all through summer: Stay up 'til 2:00-3:00 in the morning, wake up around 12:00-2:00 in the afternoon :o
