I think there were only 5 cartoons in the first hour because INVASION OF THE BUNNY SNATCHERS is pretty long.

I didn't watch it, but I'd bet that it was edited. I don't think CN would have an unedited print, even if the ending did exist.

I keep hearing about the unedited ending for Hare-um Scare-um but in all the airings and re-airings and everything else I've never seen it. What exactly is it?

Well, nobody has ever actually SEEN it, I'm not even sure if it exists. Supposedly the rabbits beat up the hunter and dog, causing a cloud of smoke. When the cloud clears you see the heads of the hunter and dog rolling down the road.

I've never heard of the ending being mentioned in any interviews, though someone else may have.

Supposedly, the edited ending has the Rabbits beating up the hunter through a cloud of smoke. There's another rumor about a further ending, after the rabbits beat up the hunter, where the hunter's head falls off of his body, and the head rolls down a road, but I don't think that's true.

"Hare-Um, Scare-Um" ends exactly the same way it did in 1939. The multiple rabbit gag was Ben Hardaway's idea of a funny end joke (in fact the rabbits-breed-like-rabbits joke appeared in Hardaway's first 'Bugs' cartoon, "Porky's Hare Hunt," when the bunny shows Porky a picture of his family, with the obligatory hundreds of kids in the background), and you can use the most sensative heaphones there are, but there's no hint of a "cut" in the ending audio sound track, the way there is with "The Heckling Hare."

Hey J Lee...

You're "correct— absolutely, positively correct!"
HARE-UM SCARE-UM has *never* had an extended ending cut off. The final scene consists only of the ten zillion rabbits surrounding the hunter, fists raised.
The alleged last scene of fighting-in-a-dust-cloud/beheaded-hunter is an unfounded rumor that began on alt.animation.warner-bros in 1996. So many people have now treated it as fact that I fear it will turn up in an animation book sooner or later, even though the scene really, *really* never existed!

Yeah, the version on CN is uncut...the fade is not newly created (although some people may have gotten confused because there was no iris-out)

Thanks David,

It's good to know where the rumor originated. I have always had my doubts about the extended ending (especially the whole "head rolling" thing).

This is a beet off topic, but does anyone know if there's a cut scene at the end of the Angry Beavers episode Practical Jerks ? The ending is VERY arupt.
