Now I'm questioning the price of certain animes, for example Nadia, Secret of Blue Water Collection 1 contains 5 DVD discs(each disc is 4 episodes long) and 2 CD Soundtracks for around 30 bucks at Bestbuy, where as a Volume of Inu-Yasha is around 20 bucks at Bestbuy and only contains 3 episodes...two volumes of Inu-Yasha would be 40 bucks and that still wouldn't even match the content of Nadia Collection 1....

What's with this screwy pricing?!

ADV's made their cash back now with Nadia, so they can now offer a reduced price. Viz hasn't made their money back with InuYasha, yet.

I wonder if they also made their money back with Destroy All Monsters? Thats gonna have a similar rerelease this summer.

Inu Yasha is a newer series. All of ADV's older shows are in "Complete Collections" for budget prices (Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, Blue Seed etc.). I'm sure once Inu Yasha has been out for a while longer, they will release box sets for cheap(er).

Boxsets are usually cheaper so I'd wait for those if you're interested in purchasing Inuyasha.

don't be silly, silly! Viz doesn't seem all that reliable to me when it comes to boxsets~why isn't even the first Pokemon season released that way? :( http://members.aol.com/kimminakochan/chicken.gif

Best Buy usually prices about $5-$10 lower than the MSRP, depending on how popular the title is. Suncoast is slowly starting to do the same now that they're no longer a part of Best Buy.

As for Pokémon box sets: it's because the majority of the people who buy said DVDs don't care about box sets.

Pokemon is a more child-oriented show, and companies rarely put out box sets for childrens shows. Inu Yasha will most definitely get box sets (Ranma 1/2 got a similar treatment, after the show was all done being released on tape, they made "budget" box sets for cheap[er]).

Inu Yasha's also one of the hot properties right now, where as Nadia is a much older show with a much more limited market then Inu Yasha. Just becuase Viz is a company specializing in Japanese-made entertainment products doesn't mean they don't want to mine a property for every last dollar they can get out of it. Heck, ADV and Gainax are doing the same thign with yet another Eva release, though I'll probably end up buying this one.

My Nadia set is in the mail right now. Looking forward to getting it.:)
