I dunno if anyone else has had the displeasure of seeing this abysmal show, but I have a question for those who have:
Is the show related in any way, shape, or form to Avery except in the title and a misguided attempt to re-create his style? I was wondering is Avery had any unused concepts that the creators of "WWoTA" used, ala The Kwicky Koala Show back in the 80s. I'm inclined to doubt it, as few of the concepts seem Avery-esque at all. Anyone have further info?

Well, the show was a complete failure, but got some credit for using Avery's name.

In the one word that show truly deserved even before its pilot was sold: No.

I saw the show. It sucked @ss. Wasn't the star of one of their "shorts" a cowboy named Tex Avery?

Yes one of the many crappy characters was indeed called Tex Avery. When I was like 9 I saw every episode.... They all blew.... We had a sattelite TV that had hundreds of channels. One of the networks showed that stuff, like Extreme Ghostbusters, and other stuff. One cool thing was on my old sattelite was that a network on it aired every single episode of the simpsons in a month..... That was soooo cool.

All those who harshly criticize "The Wacky World of Tex Avery" are right to do so. It is probably the worst idea for an animated TV show a person could come up with. While it's good to keep the image of Tex Avery alive, you have to make sure you do so tastefully and properly... which the producers of the show definitely did not. IMO, if anything, it insulted Tex Avery's legacy rather than paid homage to it. Hopefully, it will be the cartoons of the real Tex Avery that will live on and "Wacky World" will become a distant, long-forgotten past incident.

Wouldn't it've been nice to see new cartoons with Droopy, George and Jr., Red, the Wolf, and Screwy Squirrel? I have a bunch of DARK HORSE Tex Avery comics, and they were hilarious! I'll post more info about this great series later in the week. But just one line from the ending of a Screwy/Meathead episode at a fast food place.

(After blowing up a SCURVY'S restaurant)
(Meathead): "Duh, gee, what are you gonna do since you're fired?"

(Screwy): "FIRED?! I never even worked here! Ha-ha-ha-ha!":p

I read some of those Dark Horse comics, and I still have some of them. They are hilarious, and a truly great homage to Tex.

I also like Screwy's pose when he says that line; it really sells it. He's holding his hands up and making the peace sign with his fingers.

I have those comics also and look forward to your posts about them, Thad.

There already is. Haven't you seen those crappy Tom and Jerry Kids cartoons. They are very Hanna-Barbera-ish (post-MGM Hanna-Barbera-ish)!

Also, a couple of the early "World Premiere Toons" starred George and Junior. (Another early one starred Dino, and "Hard Luck Duck" was a clone of Yakky Doodle. I thought the purpose of "World Premiere Toons" was to create NEW cartoon stars...)

How many George and Junior "World Premiere Toons" were there? I saw two of them once on CN's Cartoon Cartoon Show. One had G&J trying to change a lightbulb on a tower that kept being smashed by a tired bird, the other was a Christmas themed cartoon where the two take the place of Santa Claus. Were there any others?

Those were the only two. In my opinion, there should've been more G&J World Premiere Toons, because both of them were excellent. Pat Ventura made both of them, and I think he made the best World Premiere Toons. He also made those two hilarious "Slegdehammer O'Possum" cartoons, as well as the two "Yukkie Duck" cartoons. Ventura should have his own cartoon series, if you ask me.
