As expected, I have picked it up nice and early today from the local comic shop. This issue has been greatly long awaited by myself since I'm a bit of a fan of Blackfire and Starfire (with this issue particular, I see quite a bit of myself between the pair) Beware of spoilers ahead I guess...
Anyways, I guess I'll go on and do a bit of a review. It starts off in a strange way, as Blackfire's already arrived and infact, hanging out with the Titans. Of course, none of them seem to believe that she was released from her Centauri prison early for good behavior, but no one wants to cause trouble yet. However, it seems the last two days, she and Starfire have been having competitions with each other, to see who's better at what.
No surprise that's Starfires on the losing end of them.
This whole issue is a race though, and everything that takes place in it. While the Titans set up in different locations to make sure the Blackfire doesn't cheat, she infact lures the Titans seperately into traps to incapacitate them. By the end of the issue, she's dealt with all of the Titans except Starfire, whom which has lost the race.
We find Blackfire just sleeping up against a tree while waiting for her younger sister. When they do meet, Starfire goes to shake hands with Blackfire, but Blackfire puts her in a half nelson sort of move and tells her that she is really there to kidnap her. Blackfire owes an Okaarin Bondsman a lot of money for bailing her from jail, and knows that the Gordanian Bounty Hunters will pay a lot of money for Starfire...thus we have our motive and all that jazz established.
But in classic fashion, the Titans bounce back, revealing that Starfire infact knew something like this would happen, and had rescued all the Titans after Blackfire had attacked them. So, Blackfire whom which is out numbered, makes her escape, once again vowing revenge.
So that's the story in a nut shell. But it's not really the story that did it for me (though it wasn't bad. I liked it.) but rather the Super D's and how cool I thought Blackfire was. The Super D's were cute as usual. Now with a Blackfire one, you see all sorts of scenes between the Star and Blackfire ones that might make you think back to the days when you were younger and had such rivalry's with your brothers and sisters.
The one with Starfire keeping the Pizza away from Blackfire was priceless. Star looked pretty unhappy to see a piece missing from the pizza and there's the innocent looking Blackfire holding that piece behind her back. There's also one of Star holding a wonder woman toy with most it's hair cut or pulled out, and sure enough, Blackfire holding a comb behind her back again.
I thought Nauck did a great job with the character models and such. Blackfire especially was well done in my opinion. She has this mischievious and cunning look all the time which rings out quite true to her character.
If I had anything bad to say about it, it's that I wish it was longer (and that could count towards all the issues in general). That and while that little bit with Robin and Star and the end was nice....I still don't care for Robin and don't like that pairing. But that's just my opinion (infact, when I saw it, I grabbed for my sword, Gennichiro Joe. Took a moment to reconvince myself that the rest of the comic rocked!):D
I thought the issue was great all around(especially since it does remind me a bit of myself and my older brother) so I guess I'll give it some rave reviews. A nice moral to the story there in the end too. Kudo's Mr. Torres on another well written issue.
Oh, and my new favorite sport is now Beastboy Tossing.

And do you have any reason what Beast Boy tossing is and stuff, I don't quite understand that and all?

Well, I figure Beastboy Tossing is basically this.
Grab a local Beastboy.
Throw the said Beastboy.
Whoever throws the Beastboy furthest wins!
Well, that's how I see it anyways. Fun fun eh? Something new for my Fanfic (which I'll hopefully have updated by Sunday night....)

Yeah that was awesome too! But you know, I didn't like the last page because of the art. ;) If you need a clue, you can always look at my signature. :D

Well, we should thank you for the comic really. And I'm totally psyched for the Mad Mod issue...he was my absolute favorite badguy from the show.

The Mad Mod ish will be cool to see. it's done by Cartoon Network people. That should be really cool.

I would like it if there wasn't so much Robin/Starfire fluff. Not exactly my fave thing.

I love you. Someone who thinks along the lines as me! FINALLY! AHAHAHAAAA!
So wait...the Mad Mod issue's being done by the CN people? Darn, I'm getting terribly impatient. I need to invent a time machine...

Adam Beechen (who wrote the "Mad Mod" ep) wrote the issue and Eric Vedder (Udon Studios not CN) drew it.
