There will also be 13 monsters in this film, for anyone who is interested:

Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, Angilas, Minya, Ebirah, Kumunga, Kamakaris, Manda, King Seasar, Gigan, Hedora and a new monster called Monster X!

I've been following this for a while and I can't wait until it comes out, though I'm a bit dissapointed they're not doing a G'54 remake for the 50th Anniversary.

That black and red Gigan looks AWESOME, but WHY WHY WHY did they choose Kumonga and Kamacuras?! Ebirah already fills the "realistic looking giant animal" monster role. Hedorah's an interesting choice (even though I'm not a big fan of him) and we all knew that Mothra was going to return...

But what about King Ghidora? Wasn't he supposed to return, and with four legs no less?

I'm just glad to see that Minilla/Minya is getting killed ;)

And Monster X's shadow looks very.....interesting?

If it were up to me the monster lineup would've been this:

-Gigan
-Rodan
-Minya
-Mothra
-Varan
-Titanosaurus
-King Ghidora
-Manda
-King Caesar
-Anguirus
-Megalon
-Monster X

...and GINO, just to show who the TRUE king is when Godzilla would eventually blast him to pieces. >:]

On a side note, my dad suggested that they should've used a big, fat Raymond Burr as one of the monsters. :p

in addition to the monsters that've been thrown in I'd like to add a few others

Mecha-Ghidorah, mecha-godzilla, Mogera (we need some more mecha here)
Space Godzilla, Biollante, Destroyah, Megaguiras, King Kong, and just for shmidts and giggles, a redesigned Jet Jaguar, possibly kicking the crap out of GINO

Ya know this may be suggestive blashphemy

But I'd like to see an american studio make a Godzilla Movie that's based on previous works and uses better special effects to give it more "oomph"

not like GINO(which was just blegh)

But if they ditched the rubber suits inplace of giant animatronics and CGI rendered models(that actualy looked like newer upgraded recogniseable versions of the monsters, not totaly different) and actualy made a decent backround/battle story along with interesting characters to it, they could pull off an epic...

I'm actualy curious on how Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong will work, giant apes and giant lizards are both giant monsters smashing a city...

the genre could get some new life injected into it...

Any word yet on whose doing the music for this one? As much as I like Michiru Oshima's efforts, this is Iffukube's film.

I thought Akira Ifukube was dead? Last I knew, he was nearing his nineties, so he's retired, at LEAST.Ifukube is still with us miraculously, and he was coaxed out of retirement once before to do ...Tai Destroyah. So he could be persuaded to due this one as well.

Heres (http://www.clubtokyo.org/monsterzero/editorials/editorials.php?catID=Nws&subCatID=15&contentID=450) the story translated by the good folks at monster Zero. They also just put up a pic of Monster X. As for Akria coming back to do the score it would be nice REALLY nice.

I am happy Ghidorah isn't in this movie because GMK was his best incarnation. hell, it was also Mothra's best, but they had to ruin it with bringing it back in GMMG. Gigan - looks great and about time
Rodan - cool
Anguirus - cool
King Ceasar - about time
Minilla - yuck
Kamacuras - why
Kumonga - why
Mothra - come on
Monster X - hope he is cool
Manda - whatever
Ebirah - riiiiiiiiiiiiiight
Hedorah - hope he is better than the original

Also, Monster X looks like he has Manda's tail, Gigan's feet, Anguirus' spikes on his arms, King Ceasar's ears, etc. I wonder if he is a fusion of the monsters.

I'm intrigued by this. I didn't know it was the 50th anniversary, that's pretty cool. Nice to see something last so long.

And that picture Batmex.. is just awesome.. I'd like to see this movie.

Any word yet on whose doing the music for this one? As much as I like Michiru Oshima's efforts, this is Iffukube's film.I think Kou Otani would be best for this movie. He did an excellent job with GMK, and he would do no different hear. If Otani does the soundtrack, there is a possibility this might be able to top even GMK, and that is hard because no other movie is anywhere near as great as GMK. IMO

3 Reasons for why this movie will rule

1.It's Godzilla's 50th Aniversary

2.It's made by the Japanese

3. 21th Century FX and CG at their disposal.

And that pic btw is my current desktop wallpaper:bosko:

Geez....MORE aliens?! I mean, I know it's Godzilla's 50th anniversary, and tradition is tradition but...These are aliens from Planet X, not yet annother new alien race. Although I wish Earth would team with the Kilaaks.

Obi

Well, I never said they were new aliens, I just pointed out that aliens are yet again being used in Godzilla.

Besides, it's an alternate universe, so they might as well be considered new aliens (even though they'll probably turn out the same - "Hey there Earth! We want to be your friends! Oops, wait...we mean we want to take over! Bwahahaha!" *Godzilla kicks their butts*").

Now if they REALLY want to make it interesting, the X Aliens shouldn't really turn out to be bad guys after all and the M Force is mistaken. Eventually, Godzilla gets woken up somehow and to protect the Earth, the X Aliens fuse together some of the monsters they killed to form Monster X and have him battle Godzilla in Shanghai.

Wonder what that dead monster in the ocean is though...Ebirah? Just a mangled carcass so we can't tell what it is?

Edit: Wait wait wait, Godzilla's asleep in the ice at the South Pole??? Is this a sequel to Godzilla Raids Again?! If it is....sweet.

From TokyoMonsters.com: Godzilla's fury will not be contained to Shanghai however. He will also smash, bash and crash his way through the United States, France, Australia and other countries.

Looks like the Eiffel Tower is going to go the way of the Tokyo Tower in so many Kaiju films. I certainly can't wait to see this one.

I just wish they'd leave Mothra out of it. I hate the freakin' moth. Almost as much as I hate Minya. You don't know how happy I am that Minya is going to buy it....:D

Bring back in King Ghidorah, with M11!

yeah, GINO is an acronym, it stands for "Godzilla In Name Only"

Even though I am new I think that the Japeness are try to more orginal Godzilla sequals .Godzilla isn't making a whole lotta money in its native land (Gojira, Mosura, Mekagojira:Tokyo SOS got clobbered by Last Samurai last year). If TOHO is killing off the big G for good, they may have a point.

Typically Toho they'll say this is the last Godzilla film. And even mean it. But if the Box Office is good. They'll reconsider.

They've done this before . By my count we've had four "last Godzilla" movies. And even a several year hiatus of G films. But they'll wait several years and then come back.

And as for an American Godzilla Toho feels so burned by GINO I don't think they'll ever give anyone a license for that again.

I'm not to thrilled with this M Force stuff. Some of the DaiKaiju sites I belong to are referring to it as Godzilla meets the X Men. Some people have even speculated as to whether Toho might be thinking of doing an M Force series of movies. Kind of Sentai or Tokusatsu style.

What would've been wrong with an around the world Kaiju vs Kaiju battle. Though with all of the post 9/11 queasiness I'm surprised they're going to let the Big G loose on New York. Washington DC would be a better choice.:D

And yes we've seen way too much Mothra of late. Toho for some reason is really high on that moth. They tried to push Mothra as a Godzilla replacement with three Mothra movies in the early to mid Nineties.

This sounds pretty cool, I wish Sci-fi would shows movies from 2003 and 2001 if they have not already. 2003 was Mechgodzilla vs Godzilla done differently, this one sounds like one big battle.

Yeah, according to the studio, they're leaving it for the "next generation" to give it a new direction.

They have not use a alien plot sence the 70`s os it long overdue. And I kind like the alines better then the 90 plots. I mean why does godzilla always have to be the bad one? Why not make him the good guy like he was in the 60`s and 70`s.:D
