Its set roughly for a December 2004 release according to Natsume, its pretty much the same as the boy version except your a woman rather than a man. Some things in game are going to be upgraded/mixed around as well. :D

In BTN for girls (released only in Japan, but soon to get an English GBA adaptation) it showed a censored version of the birth, while in BTN for boys you set outside the room and the town lady person helped her inside your bedroom while the family of the girl stayed outside with you.

AWL seems to just skip all of that and send you a year into the future

There have always been girl versions of HM in Japan. In the early ones, the game ended when you got married. They could never get away with that today.
