Out of all the DC toon he only had a major roll in one. He was not a major char in the WB veriosn only a Gueststar. When he does show up he acts like bats#2 insted of the laid back guy in the comic and the ep`s he show up were bad ones. In BB he don`t even make one guest apparence and the only one who talk about him is barber. I didn`t plane on seeing him in JL but I was hopeing to see him in JLU. Timm killed all that when he say nightwing won`t show up, insted he will have zantanl show up for no reason I can think of except fanservice? Althougth NW did appeard in TT, yet we don`t`t know if it dick grayson or another one? So what does timm have againts night wing?

hmm I don't really see where you're coming from. I loved every single appearance of NW in TNBA, You scratch my Back and Over the Edge are actually among my favorite episodes of the entire Batman run... the reason he did not appear in BB was because they had planned to explain what happened to Dick in the past but never really got a chance to get down to it. I've always felt the creative team liked the character very much, so speaking of "hate" doesn't quite make sense to me...

And I'm sure they'll come up with a better reason for Zatanna to make an appearance than just "oh HEY let's have Zatanna in this one!".

I don't think there's any hate for Nightwing, the writers probably just wanted to use people they haven't used before. Or they could be saving Nightwing in case there are anymore Batman DTVs.

Nightwing is a future incarnation of Robin. Robin is "currently" leading the Teen Titans. We saw Robin-as-Nightwing in the episode How Long is Forever?

In short, Nightwing belongs to the Teen Titans.

I loved the eps with Nightwing in um (mullet and all... heh heh). I guess the challenge is how to make him that different than Bats. As is, DG is supposed to be more acrobatic, have more finesse than Bats does (at least in the comic universe), while Tim is more sneaky, uses weapons etc. In the animated universe, I guess it makes more sense to animate punches, kicks, sweeps vs. uber-acrobatic lunges, flips, grapples etc. *shrugs*

With that (again, in the animated universe), he'd be another Batman, slightly slimmer, different costume and with mullet :) ..it's easier to differentiate between Bats and Tim due to the fact Tim's a kid/pre-teen.

I see no hate for Nightwing at all. The writers and producers just like to dangle him in front of our noses, which is exactly why we've yet to get any concrete answers on what happened to him in the BATMAN BEYOND universe. The "what happened to Nightwing" story was always intended to be a DTV, but after the ROTJ fiasco, I think WB decided to just move on with "safer" projects.

Why Nightwing hasn't appeared in any DTVs yet is beyond me, though. I guess SUB-ZERO sorta counts...

Perhaps they're afraid he'll take too many Bat-fans away ;)

As an overly obsessed DG supporter, I don't think I have ever felt that he was hated.....slightly overlooked perhaps...but never anything like hated. He has been in wonderful episodes, the writers have treated the character with incredible respect....or we never would have seen such amazing episode like Robin's Reckoning or Old Wounds.
We got Robin in the cartoons in the first place because they needed to reach a younger audience, so obviously they know fans at least would love him.
And Nightwing isn't all that laid back in the comics. In fact, I loved the cartoon portrayal of his comic-self, I thought they dealt with it beautifully. He's different from Batman, we can see that alone in his remarks and way of dealing with things. He's anything but a "bat 2"....especially considering Batman wouldn't want to make amusing retorts like Grayson is his life depended on it :p
Yes, I do feel that Nightwing could definitely deserve more attention. They do seem to like dangling a carrot in front of Nighty fans and then taking it away...as mentioned, only one or two slight references to him in BB...and showing him in one (really cool) Teen Titan's episode. Obviously they know the fans like him, or they wouldn't have him in there even as a guest appearance. A fan can only hope that they'll finally realize there is a massive underground love for Nightwing and that a DTV like was rumoured in the past would finally come to the surface.
