To all you Transformer fans out there, just a few days ago I saw in the toystore a 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime toy. It was so cool! This is like the ultimate Optimus Prime ever! Here are the features:
- battle damage burns on his arms and the grill part on his stomach area.
- you can replace his hand with an energon axe.
- comes with the matrix that opens up.
- his chest opens like it did in the movie to store the matrix.
- reflective shiny eyes look like they're always lit.
- comes with Megatron in transformed gun mode.
- comes with Optimus's big gun.
- he's about 12 inches tall.
- he transforms.
I was practically drooling, but it cost P5500 (Philippine pesos) which is about $100 (US dollars). Too much for my budget.

They're only about $70 here, but being the jobless waste of space I am I've yet to pick one up. I'll get it eventually though.

I know, I know, I do want to save up for it. Still, that's a lot of mula.
I was just over at Amazon.com and found it there too. one of the customers said that his faceplate moves as if to simulate his speaking! You can check it out here:

Isn't he just grand! :D
I've been wanting to get him for a VERY long time now. Every place that's supposed to have him by me doesn't. The only one I have seen up close is Masterpeice Prime [Japanese version] at a Japanese import store. And there he's $138!
I need to save up money badly.

Saw it in this months Newtype. It's probably more impressive in real life.
Good Ol' Batmanuel!

That sounds pretty cool! I never had Optimus, but I did have Ultra Magnus.
Speaking of Transformers, I actually got one for the first time in many years the other day. It's the new Transformers: Alternator car "Smokescreen" (a remake of/homage to the original Datsun CRX "Smokescreen"). It's a highly detailed, fully licensed version of Tommi Makinen's Subaru Impreza from the 2003 Rally Monte Carlo. As a huge fan of the World Rally Championship, I just couldn't pass it up! It looks great and in car form, appears to be a die-cast 1/24 version of the real car. The only negative about it is that the tranformation, though very impressively designed, is difficult, especially when folding the legs back up when going from robot to car.
If you want to see it, go here: http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/alternators/pl/page.showroom/v.1/dn/default.cfm
I got 20th Ann. Op. a couple months ago for around $65...

Yeah, I spotted it at a Japanese import store in San Diego.. couldn't afford it but it was cooool. Would have loved this as a kid. Was always disappointed how crappy the original Prime figure looked compared to his cartoon counterpart!

He's actually on clearance at my local Super Target for $40. I'm hoping he'll be marked down 75% bringing Prime to $20.
He is very cool.

Its pretty cool but its too bad Hasbro cheated american fans by shorting his smoke stacks and not including that cool instruction manual with photos and optimus bio.

I've thought the same thing about a lot of toys. They sit on the shelf for weeks and months, and there's no hurry at all. Then one day they're all gone from the local Toys-R-Us and Wal-Mart, and guess what? They're going for 150% of retail on ebay.
This happened to me when I procrastinated in buying the Cowboy Bebop Perfect sessions. Every time I went in to the local Suncoast I pined for it, but never wanted to spend the $200. Well, one wednesday I went in and it was there. $200 is a lot, but I decided to go ahead and get it on Friday when I got paid. Well, I couldn't wait and went back the next day at work during my lunch break, because if I wrote a check and deposited my paycheck the next day before 2 pm, I'd be ok. Well, guess what? It was gone. An employee told me someone had driven 150 miles to buy it because the Suncoast in their town had called up and they told them they had one.
This probably won't happen to anyone with this awesome Optimus toy, but hey, you never know...

Yeah, the Japanese got the 'clean' version too, instead of the battle damaged one we got. I'm not sure I care so much about that, but I think if I had a choice, I'd choose the clean one. There's no way I'm paying the extra $40 for the import though...
They HAD to make the smokestacks shorter to comply with U.S. toy safety laws.

I wonder what Family Guy will have to say about this (if you don't get it, ask a friend or anyone here at TZ) :D

Heh, that actually happened to me with RID Optimus. I may be alone, but I love the idea of Prime as a fire truck. But I managed to get it for $10 on eBay, so I guess it could go either way.

They did'nt have to. They could have marketed it to Adult collecters the way it was intened to be. But no hasbro did'nt want to do that they wanted to market it to kids. And this is clearly not a childs toy.

This toy is awesome, scrounge together the neccessarry ammount pronto!
I would have like to get the Japanese version just so I oculd have the Cardboard trialer instead of the lame-o "base" the US one comes with . Battle damage and Short stacks are inconsequential to me.
