Dub

Hrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmm.....

In Wizard #121 they made up a list of the 100 greatest cartoons . There are quite a few I have issues with some of these but I guess your mileage may vary......

keep in mind that this list inclludes shows - not shorts. So dont expect to see Der Fuhrers face or isolated Looney Tunes or whatever. Just basic TV shows from Saturday morning and syndication.

Anyways heres the list, my comments are in italics:

100. M.A.S.K.
99. She-Ra
98. The Yogi Bear Show
97. Transformers: Beast Machines
96. Josie and the Pussycats
95. SilverHawks - I dont really think it should even been on the lkist considering that its a early based clone of Thundercats. its a good cartoo, but not that good: Dub

94. Voltron: Defender of the Near Universe - The Car Version. Not the version that aired on Toonami.

93. Jem
92. Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?

91. Cow & Chicken - WHY is this on the list???? Ren And Stimpy did it SO MUCH better under John K.'s supervision. Its a funny cartoon and just OUTRIGHT WEIRD, but......*8shrugs**

90. Neon Genesis Evangelion - Its noce to see that they werent biased and did include anime on the list since it is animation. But I think this deserves a much higher rank considering the outright furor its caused in both countries its aired in. That and while it is deep, dark and very story driven. Its just a damn good cartoon.

89. Sailor Moon
88. Static Shock - This toon is barely off the ground yet....

87. Aladdin: TV Series
86. Daria
85. Inspector Gadget
84. Spider-Man: 60's version - Any spider man fan will tell you that this version of the cartoon is corny as all get out, BUT that theme song is STILL ingrained into my head every time I hear it ^__^

83. Marvel Superheroes - Ummmm.....It was nice, buuuuuuut there are much better toons out there....

82. The Woody Woodpecker Show

81. The Inhumanoids - MOST DEFINETELY not :P

80. Transformers: Beast Wars - Considering how much it did for revitalizing the Transformers series I think it needs to be a bit higher...

79. Popeye - Considering how much it did PERIOD and how long its still lasted I think it needs to be higher. Though the 80's versions do drop it a notch...

78. Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors

77. Histeria! - I'm iffy on this one as I dont think its the best WB has produced of the current age[/b]

76. Invader ZIM
75. Saturday Night Live: TV Funhouse
74. The Zeta Project
73. Men in Black
72. The Maxx
71. The Jetsons
70. Speed Racer
69. The Bullwinkle Show

68. Johnny Bravo - [i]It wasnt identified whether it was first season or later seasons...I dunno. JB is pretty funny at times, but the season after Van Partible left were missing a certain something and never really hit the mark in places....

67. Mighty Mouse Playhouse - VERY VERY glad to see someone went old school... :)

66. Aeon Flux
65. Tiny Toon Adventures
64. Muppet Babies
63. Challenge of the Superfriends - Arguably the BETTER of the many Superfriends incarnations next to the final 80's version...I would have included the final version of Superfriends MUCH HIGHLY over Marvel Superheroes though :P

62. Danger Mouse
61. King of the Hill
60. Beavis & Butt-Head
59. Smurfs - Gawd I miss them....

58. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Gawd I miss them....

57. The Critic
56. The Flintstones
55. Darkwing Duck
54. Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics - I can see why they included this and it makes sense. It was really one of the first cartoons to have such a MASSIVE MASSIVE cast of characters and it worked well....I do remember watching this with my cousin when it aired on USA ^____^

53. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
52. Clerks
51. Thundercats - This I can see on the list considering JUST HOW MANY PEOPLE remembered this cartoon before it was not on Cartoon Network and how much impact it made, but I could see it lower on the list by just a bit. I can understand this over Silverhawks....

50. Dragon Ball Z - EVEN at #50 just where it belongs. Dragonball Z _IS_ a very DAMN good cartoon, _BUT_ its not everybody's cup of tea and it does, like any other "big episode caartoon of its day" have its problems here and there. Its had a lot of impact and a lot of flaws associated with it here and there. I like it at a stable position on the list where its NOT too high and not too low. I could probably agree with this.....

49. X-Men: Evolution - Just like Static Shock, its a very good cartoon, but its just NOW getting off the ground. I dont think I'd have included such a new cartoon on this list unless its been out for like a year or so.....

48. Spawn
47. Thundarr the Barbarian
46. Defenders of the Earth
45. The Herculoids
44. Freakazoid!
43. Space Ghost
42. X-Men
41. Dungeons & Dragons - I assume they mean before Fox Kids got thier hands on it and redid stuff >___<....

40. Dr Katz, Professional Therapist
39. Scooby-Doo - You knew it was gonna be on here somewhere; stop griping ;)....

38. The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers
37. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends - The 80's Spider man cartoon. I vaguely remember this, BUT I think it was actually pretty decent for what it was. I may have put this just a tad lower though....

36. The Real Ghostbusters
35. Rugrats
34. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
33. Robotech
32. Family Guy
31. Star Blazers
30. Voltron: Defender of the Universe
29. Gargoyles
28. Spider-Man: The Animated Series - 90's version....

27. Futurama
26. DuckTales - To be honest I'd have put this just a LITTLE bit higher....For the sole reason of course that Carl Barks is just an amazing amazing amazing man. But I digress ;)

25. Fantastic Four - - I'm not sure if it was the 60's version or the 90's version....I'm partial to the 90's version myself as I thought it was pretty darned good for a syndicated show. I had issues with the 60's version as it played liek a Herculoids cartoon. But i dunno. **shrugs**

24. Schoolhouse Rock - VERY GLAD to see this was not overlooked....
23. Animaniacs
22. Peanuts/The Charlie Brown And Snoopy Show - LETS HAVE A PARTY WITH CHARLIE BROWN AND SNOOPY! WE CAN GO DANCIN' WITH LINUS AND LUCY! :D....

21. Superman: The Animated Series
20. SpongeBob SquarePants
19. Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids - This just deserves to be on the list in some form or fashion cause nowadys I bet it'd be SO HOKEY! XD I think it needs to be lower though, the filmation spawn that it is, but Fat Albert is still a pop culture icon in some places I know of. I think I saw him on a shirt just the other day around school....

18. Pinky and The Brain
17. South Park - Overrated. It deserves to be on his somewhere for all the stuff its caused good OR bad....But I'm not sure if I'd have put it this high or not. I dont think I would though....just a tad lower

16. The Tick - - It was good and DAMN FUNNY....I'd say its more of a 20's or 30s on the list, but not teens...SPOOOOOOOOOOON!!!! :D

15. Tom and Jerry
14. The Tex Avery Show - They'd better damn well mean the one that airs on Cartoon Network and not that syndicated CRAPFEST....

13. Dexter's Laboratory
12. Ren & Stimpy
11. Space Ghost Coast to Coast
10. The Powerpuff Girls - Hell, its taken Japan by storm, and thats a rarity for an American cartoon. The only other cartoon to get that "honor" of being dubbed in Japanese and was also popular was Beast Wars....Now if only I could find an mp3 of the Japan opening theme song "Cream Puff Shuffle"...

9. Battle of the Planets - - The version of gatchaman where there were ***REAL*** actors and not that fake G-Force crap. I've heard this cartoon is so freaking good from older people I've talked to, but I've never ever seen it before.... :(

8. Jonny Quest
7. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
6. Batman Beyond
5. Transformers
4. Superman: Max Fliescher Version
3. The Bugs Bunny Show/Looney Tunes
2. Batman: The Animated Series
1. The Simpsons

Now there are some probs I have with it as you'd have seen. Series that I think need to be added:

- Where is Reboot and why is it not on here? Its the only Computer Animated series other than Beast Wars to have such a devoted fan following and it really was revolutionary for 3D Animation. I think its a shame it was left off.

- Sonic The Hedgehog SatAM. Sonic Underground and Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog airing on toon Disney is just *****NOT ACCEPTABLE*****. This is like the only videogame based cartoon that didnt suck. It also aired coincidentally right after Reboot on ABC. Yeah, it has some issues and would be ery low on the list, but you have to think in terms of what it did. The current comic book which is based loosely off of this version just passed the 100 issue mark and is still going strong with no signs of impending death on the horizon. The fan following for this toon in Sonic fandom is HUGE (though I'm more of a Segasonic person. However its like the bastard child of DiC Animation. they milk Adventures to death like thier proud of it, and when they finally did promise to do new Sonic cartoons they slap that Alvin and The Chipmucks Sonic Underground mess. Oy.... :P Its not the best cartoon in the world, but it does have some definable merits.

- Why are there no cartoons from Tezuka (cant remember his first name) - Astro Boy? Which was the first turly popular japanese animated cartoon? Kimba The White Lion? Which was basically what the Lion King stole from? I dont think they did a lot of research in that area.

- Tenchi muyo. Now you may say why in the hell is he including this on the list????? Well look at Smurfs and Ninja Turtles. They spawned HORDES of clone shows and outlasted every one of them. Tenchi may not be the best anime in the world and IMO it'd probably be very low on the list, but in Japan when it first came out, tenchi was like the Ninja Turtles of its day sort fo. It literally started the whole "guy and many girls" theme that runs rampant in just about a large majority of todays anime :P I think it deserves a small spot on the list if not honoroble mention.

- Notice that Pokemon showed up nowhere on the list at all even though its been out for how many seasons now and still going? I'm not sure how to react to that... :)

- Studio Gainax. I'm not sure if you've ever heard of them, but they did Neon Genesis Evangelion. One series that they did prior to that was something called Nadia: Secret Of Blue Water. If you ahvent seen it - its an absolutely beautiful cartoon storywise and animation wise IMO. I've just started watching it myself and I havent heard a single person to really say a bad thing about. Its based off Jules Verne's 20,000 leagues beneath the sea. Some say that Atlantis got some ideas from this toon, but I'm not really sure as I cant make a lot of parallels yet. Either way I think it should have been placed somewhere on there at some point.

and thats that. Some people will probably disagree with my comments but I'd like to hear yours too? Did you think the list was fair or did I miss something that you think should have been included? Comments?

EDIT: Almost forgot :P I would probably add She-Ra just atad bit higher than 99 and put the garfield Saturday morning cartoon on there as well. ^___^ And thats that

Oh, the infamous list. I'll post up some new comments I've had formed since first seeing it...

...I gotta defend H! ;)
Histeria! is the cartoon that got me back into cartoondom in the first place, and it certainly has its good moments (such as the song "THAT'S THE STORY TOLD BY THE BARD"). For a time, in fact, it was really one of the few good KWB shows in 1999-2000...I think getting that high up for H! was very, very good! :D

Although you're right...WHERE'S SONIC SATAM?! All you said is very true...and when I first saw the list I never realized it was missing. I mean, geez, it got Sega a lotta fans...and its comic reincarnation is keeping them. Besides, Sonic's basically just too cool to be let off the list! I would put it somewhere around the low 40s, possibly high 30s.

I woulda put TTA higher on the list, Ninja Turtles higher, and Futurama a bit lower on the list (higer meaning closer to #1, of course). Otherwise I'm fine with the list.

A lot of them stick out as not being worthy of the list, like Static Shock (I don't even know what it is). So I'm not even going to mention them.

I saw three different Spider-Man series on there, and not once did I see the Pink Panther. (maybe I overlooked it)

I might get hurt for saying this, but Clerks does not deserve to be on the list of best cartoons of all time, even though I do like it. It's better than most of the stuff on Wizards list like South Park, but people give Clerks too much credit. You can't name a show #52 greatest cartoon of all time after just 2 broadcasted episodes.

I've made a similar suggestion as there is more than enough toon knowledge in toonzone to compile such a list. The concensus was that it could too easily degenerate into infighting & one list agree to by everyone would be impossible to construct. I disagree, & I still hope such a list could become a reality.

The best way to do such a thing would be to have everyone submit cartoons that should be placed on a ballot. Then there could be an online ballot with which you could rank the toon on a scale from 1 to 10. Then the toon with the highest average score would be #1, the second highest would be #2, and so on. But I can understand that it would be very hard for someone too actually put this together and do the calculations so I don't expect to see this anytime soon.

do we have any Aussies here? I understand that AU ballots work like this

I think we could manage to compile such a list, if- and it's a big if- we can all agree ahead of time, not to get abusive about clashing opinions. It's obviously impossible to compile a list that everybody will agree on, but I'm certain we could do a more convincing job than that Wizard crew. ('G.I. Joe' #7 and 'Bulwinkle' #69? Oh, *Come On*!)

Psycho Fox

I could see it a possiblity but then what about euro, canadain and other non US/JAP cartoons. IE I could rank a cartoon that is made in Canada or in Europe and it might deserve a nice spot but becouse it is not distrabuted in the states it would get a very low rating. I could see this happening for the Watership Down series or Night Hood which are really good shows but are not showen in the US.

Well, usin' the system I proposed, you would just not vote for a cartoon if you had not seen it. No vote for a certain cartoon would not affect an average of all votes taken.

hmmmm...Good list in terms of the stuff on it, the order is a little off for my tastes. For example, here's the order I'd put the top 10 in:

10. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
9. Transformers
8. Battle of the Planets -
7. Jonny Quest
6. The Powerpuff Girls
5. Batman Beyond
4. Superman: Max Fliescher Version
3. The Simpsons
2. Batman: The Animated Series
1. The Bugs Bunny Show/Looney Tunes

I made a thread at the Anigen Board, Joe, see what you think. You might want to use your system there.:cool:

- Sonic The Hedgehog SatAM.

I know alot of people will agree, where is SATAM!!! This was a wonderful show, it needs and should be on the list. One of my old favroite things to do was sit down and watch SatAM and Reboot on Saturday mornings (Remember the days when something good would come on Saturday mornings?). What I wouldn't give to watch Captain Bucky O' Hare and Captain N again.

Honestly, half the stuff on the list shouldn't be there.

Arrrrrrrggggggghhhhh!

The Real Ghostbusters should #5, if not #1!!!!!!

I mean, think!! That was one of the GREATEST cartoons of all time! I mean, it just ROCKED!

And it definitly needs to be in the top 5 if it ran for 6 seasons!!! It would have gone more, but TMNT beat it to death! (I don't mind, i'm a TMNT fan)

Other than that, I'm fine with the list.

Christopher N. Denner

Simpsons at #1?!?! Maybe 7 years ago... but not with the last 6.

And yes... TMNT and Real Ghostbusters deserve higher... er.. uh... lower.

:p

Whats this? Another top list done by Wizard? Well, their top 50 anime one totally sucked, looks like this one will too...

>>90. Neon Genesis Evangelion

Even I think this show is ranked to low. I'd put it in the top 50.

>>61. King of the Hill

Wow, glad to see it ranked so high on a list with all this other stuff. I certainly love the show, but I know its not exactly popular...

>>60. Beavis & Butt-Head

Way too high and above too many other shows that are better than it (take the last 2 I mentioned for example)

>>57. The Critic

Yeah, this is alright here, although I'd rank King of the Hill above it.

>>50. Dragon Ball Z

Well, atleast it isn't ranked as high as it was on the top 50 anime list... Going on impact on the american anime market I might rank it higher, but on quality its a piece of trash...

>>34. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

Wow, they thought it was better than DBZ and Eva? Thats nice to know, although I'd put Eva above it...

>>27. Futurama

Certainly amazed and delighted to see it this high :D

>>26. DuckTales - To be honest I'd have put this just a LITTLE bit higher....For the sole reason of course that Carl Barks is just an amazing amazing amazing man. But I digress ;)

I agree :p This was my favorite of the cartoons I grew up with.

>>17. South Park

Whats so high quality about a show that targets the lowest common denominator? Certainly the first few dozen episodes were good, but the shows so utterly collapsed in quality I wouldn't rank it this high...

>>12. Ren & Stimpy

Yaay! They ranked it this high! :) I'd rank it even higher...

>>1. The Simpsons

Agree 100% with the top pick. By far the best animated show ever, regardless of the country it came from.

I'm amazed they didn't put Akira on there. They're so insanely obsessed with it in their Anime Invasion mag and ranked it number one...

Dissappointed to see no Cowboy Bebop, Mobile Suit Gundam and Vision of Escaflowne on there.... :(

I was glad to see that Gargoyles, Voltron, The Critic, SGC2C, and X-Men Evolution got good ranks, but Eva totally deserves better than #90. I would have put it in the top 20 or so, and it is far superior to Static Shock, The Humanoids, and the Muppet Babies. *retch* >_<

Everybody ever heard from has got *some* kind of disagreement with this list.

Me, I think 'Rocky and Bulwinkle' ought to be among the top twenty AT LEAST.

100. M.A.S.K.
Good choice. not a brilliant cartoon. Some nice music, but by the numbers in both animation and story...

99. She-Ra
Surely Hordak should have raised this up a notch?

84. Spider-Man: 60's version - The stories were rather good, I must disagree with Jon that the only thing going was the tune. There was a rather dark element to this one..

74. The Zeta Project .. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

71. The Jetsons ... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH x2

64. Muppet Babies - Glad to see they could pop by - it would be higher if ONLY I could fix the results...

61. King of the Hill - Surprised this didn't get a higher mark Very intelligent and dry toon...

59. Smurfs - Mercy. I hate the blighters. They remind of Sunday lunch when they used to be the ONLY cartoon on TV on Sundays in the UK. Ugh.

53. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - WHAT??? HIGHER! This should have been SOOO much higher! The music, the voices, the stories....

47. Thundarr the Barbarian.. WHATT? This should have been LOWER... etc..

41. Dungeons & Dragons - What did FOX do to this toon? I only recall the 80's original which was an excellent toon in characters, story and music...

37. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends - People hate this citing that Spidey should only work alone, but I liked the dynamic here. It was very cosy. Good music again, fun stories and cameos. Oh and Angelica Jones was a stunning bit of ink and pencil.. :)

36. The Real Ghostbusters

27. Futurama - merely at 27? Tut.

25. Fantastic Four - If this was the 90's version I am disappointed. Also if it's the 60's one. Sorry Jon, this cartoon was chronic. While DC had BTAS rocking the screens, Marvel followed up the cartoon revoloution with this sorry mess...

16. The Tick - Should have been higher. MUCH higher. Top ten stuff... so at least 6 places higher - at least!

9. Battle of the Planets - - JON: The version of gatchaman where there were ***REAL*** actors and not that fake G-Force crap. I've heard this cartoon is so freaking good from older people I've talked to, but I've never ever seen it before....

See it - otherwise I'll talk you to death. Watch out for the new comic that has just comic out with Alec Ross doing some spendid covers! Great show, although to be fair, G-Force was a closer tie to the original storylines - it was the music and vocs which were naff..

Battle Of The Planets is my favourite version. Bizarrely sporting a more believable world than the original down to earth Japanese version. FANTASTIC music by Hoyt 'Flintstones and pretty much any other HB cartoon you can think of' Curtin.

6. Batman Beyond - Surprised this hasn't caused grumbles... Nice placing. Good to see it get some credit.

5. Transformers - Ditto.

4. Superman: Max Fliescher Version - never seen it but heard it was good.

2. Batman: The Animated Series - nuff said.

1. The Simpsons - No surprise.

My condensed 10 then!

10. Transformers
9.Spider Man And His Amazing Friends
8.The Tick
7.Dungeons And Dragons
6.BTAS
5.Futurama
4.He-Man
3.The Simpsons
2.Batman Beyond
1.Battle Of The Planets

Just one question: Where is Samurai Jack on this list?? :eek: I mean, if not for the beauty and originality of the show itself, then for the sheer audacity of it!

But then, I am biased... :D And I agree that ReBoot needs to be here also.

Samurai Jack's too new I think...
Oh my GOD, Zim actually made it?! WHOO!!!! *^-^* I woulda hoped for higher, but just the fact it's THERE...
I wish Slayers woulda been on the list...oh well....
Smurfs.....::shudder:: That theme song is GRATING....

"Rugrats" rated higher than Neon Genesis Evangelion, Invader Zim, Daria, Beast Wars, The Critic, Darkwing Duck, Clerks, Spawn, Freakazoid!, and The Real Ghostbusters? :mad:

Heads.
Will.
Roll.

97. Transformers: Beast Machines - Would of put this a little higher on the list, if anything, because it had the guts to try something different with the Transformers.

95. SilverHawks - Animation was good, but other then that....

91. Cow & Chicken - Like the show, but wouldn't of put it on this list.

90. Neon Genesis Evangelion - Deserves to be higher on this list, but don't think I'd put it as higher up as some others on the board would. Put it atleast in the top 40.

89. Sailor Moon - Put this a little higher, but not much.

88. Static Shock - Good show, but seems too new to be on the list. Still, I think it has a deserved spot.

86. Daria - Actually surprised this isn't ranked higher then this. Oh well, it's a fairly decent spot, but should be higher.

80. Transformers: Beast Wars - Many wouldn't agree with me, but I'd put this in the top ten.

77. Histeria! - Wouldn't even put this in the top 150.

76. Invader ZIM - Yes! Good to see this getting some props. :)

74. The Zeta Project - This is way too high on the list.

72. The Maxx - This is a very pleasent surprise, although it needs to be a lot higher then this. The Mtv's best show of all time.

69. The Bullwinkle Show - What the?? If any show deserves to be ranked higher, it's this one. Definate top ten material.

58. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - What the heck is this doing so low on the list?? Should be in the top 20, atleast.

50. Dragon Ball Z - No regular Dragonball on the list? Sheesh.

42. X-Men - Seeing how it's probably the best animated series about a comic book team, it should be way higher then this.

41. Dungeons & Dragons - Glad to see that this show seems to be far from forgotten.

36. The Real Ghostbusters - Who you gonna call??

32. Family Guy - Wow. Surprised to see this show listed so highly.

27. Futurama - Should be in the top 15, atleast.

25. Fantastic Four - Please tell me this isn't the 90's series. It was a good series, but number 25??

16. The Tick - SPOON!!

6. Batman Beyond - A little too high, but I'm not going to complain.

4. Superman: Max Fliescher Version - These really are some classic shows. Have a couple of old tapes somewhere in my video collection that I should look for sometime soon.

2. Batman: The Animated Series - Agree with this pick. There's a reason that almost every animated action series in the U.S. is compared to this show.

1. The Simpsons - 100% agree with this choice. Great show.

Pretty good list, overall. Surprised Reboot, Captain N: Game Master, Duckman, and a few others didn't get listed at all. Oh well....

Exatron

97. Transformers: Beast Machines
This one probably should have been a bit higher, even if it did take itself entirely too seriously and never really reached its full potential.

94. Voltron: Defender of the Near Universe
Ah, yes, the often ignored vehicle Voltron. I wish Cartoon Network had acquired the rights to this series when Voltron originally aired on Toonami.

92. Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?
One of the few examples of educational animation that worked.

86. Daria
It should be a bit higher, if only because it was the best animated series MTV made.

80. Transformers: Beast Wars
This one should be ranked much higher, preferable slightly ahead of its parent series.

77. Histeria!
I have never been able to stand this show, especially after seeing the short where Edgar Allan Poe was depicted as a villain.

76. Invader ZIM
Bow before Zim!

49. X-Men: Evolution
It is a bit early to put this one in such a list, but so far it has been a better continuity reboot than X-Men Unlimited.

44. Freakazoid!
A show that, like The Tick, died before its time.

39. Scooby-Doo
It should have been much lower on the list.

29. Gargoyles
This one should have been in the top five.

28. Spider-Man: The Animated Series - 90's version....

27. Futurama
It should be closely follow The Simpsons.

23. Animaniacs
Only 23?

18. Pinky and The Brain
This one belongs right next to Animaniacs.

17. South Park
It belongs somewhere around 25.

16. The Tick - - It was good and DAMN FUNNY....I'd say its more of a 20's or 30s on the list, but not teens...SPOOOOOOOOOOON!!!! :D

13. Dexter's Laboratory
11. Space Ghost Coast to Coast
10. The Powerpuff Girls
Three of

8. Jonny Quest
This one at number eight? Blech, it doesn't even belong in the top thirty.

7. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
6. Batman Beyond
This one should have been eleven or twelve.

5. Transformers
It gets a bit too much credit considering that its immediate successor was better in most ways, but it does belong in the top ten.

3. The Bugs Bunny Show/Looney Tunes
2. Batman: The Animated Series
The perfect choice for number two.

1. The Simpsons
It's probably one of the best shows ever made.

I must also add my complaints about the glairing ommissions. Where are ReBoot, Garfield and Friends, and Cowboy Bebop?

My top ten has a tendency to fluctuate a bit depending on my mood, but it looks something like this.

10. Cowboy Bebop
09. Animaniacs & Pinky and the Brain
08. Transformers
07. Beast Wars Transformers
06. ReBoot
05. Futurama
04. Looney Tunes
03. Gargoyles
02. Batman the Animated Series
01. The Simpsons

100. M.A.S.K.

I barely remember this and what I do remember was that it was LAME!

99. She-Ra
She-Ra and He-Man belong in the 80's somewhere.

98. The Yogi Bear Show
97. Transformers: Beast Machines

I hated Beast Machines. but it was the sequel to Beast Wars it should
be at least 65

96. Josie and the Pussycats

It sould e somehwere in the 70's. How many cartoons in the 60's had a mostly female singing cast?

95. SilverHawks - I dont really think it should even been on the lkist considering that its a early based clone of Thundercats. its a good cartoo, but not that good: Dub

SilverHawks and Thundercasts both had some of thw WORST voice acting that I have ever heard.

94. Voltron: Defender of the Near Universe - The Car Version. Not the version that aired on Toonami.

Blaspthemy!!! BOTH versions of Voltron deserve to be in the mid 20's@!

93. Jem

JEm deserves much better than this. Put this around 30.

Sorry. this show was not only a Ren and Stimpy Ripoff but a really BAD one at that .

But it is pretty good so far.

80. Transformers: Beast Wars - Considering how much it did for revitalizing the Transformers series I think it needs to be a bit higher...

Somewhere around the 50's I think.

77. Histeria! - [i]I'm iffy on this one as I dont think its the best WB has produced of the current age

This show is GARBAGE!!!!!!!!

74. The Zeta Project

Crappy stupid Batban Beyond spinoff. Thye should have spent the money on more episdoes of batman Beyond.

68. Johnny Bravo - It wasnt identified whether it was first season or later seasons...I dunno. JB is pretty funny at times, but the season after Van Partible left were missing a certain something and never really hit the mark in places....

this show does not belong here. It's a stupid one joke show.

67. Mighty Mouse Playhouse - VERY VERY glad to see someone went old school... :)

44. Freakazoid!

This show should have lasted much longer than it did, considereing the crap that replaced it.

43. Space Ghost

You mean Space Ghost Coast to Coast, right?

40. Dr Katz, Professional Therapist

Death to Squigglevision!!!!!!

39. Scooby-Doo - You knew it was gonna be on here somewhere; stop griping ;)....

Death to Scooby-Doo!!!!!!!!!!

36. The Real Ghostbusters

34. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

33. Robotech

This three are placed in the right positions. But Robotehc deserves a better place due it it's effect on brinign anime to the American masses.

30. Voltron: Defender of the Universe
29. Gargoyles
28. Spider-Man: The Animated Series - 90's version....

26. DuckTales - To be honest I'd have put this just a LITTLE bit higher....For the sole reason of course that Carl Barks is just an amazing amazing amazing man. But I digress ;)

22. Peanuts/The Charlie Brown And Snoopy Show - LETS HAVE A PARTY WITH CHARLIE BROWN AND SNOOPY! WE CAN GO DANCIN' WITH LINUS AND LUCY! :D....

16. The Tick - - It was good and DAMN FUNNY....I'd say its more of a 20's or 30s on the list, but not teens...SPOOOOOOOOOOON!!!! :D

15. Tom and Jerry

^___^ And thats that [/B]

Where in the name of high school football is Home Movies? Yes, yes, I know, it's pretty new, but after two seasons, I feel it's unquestionably better than Dr. Katz.

The same could be said for Cowboy Bebop, which I thought was an obvious place in the top 20 but.... no dice. C'mon, Wizard, you can do better than that.

There are alot of forgettable cartoons on that list. I think the people who made it were just being nostalgic. Notice they didn't give reason. I mean, "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors" was interesting, but c'mon.

They missed plenty of good ones.

Mighty Max
SWAT Kats
Two Stupid Dogs
Starcom

9. Jetsons
8. X-Men (all series)
7. The Simpsons
6. Batman Beyond
5. Justice League
4. Spider-Man (all series)
3. Batman/Superman Adventures
2. Flintstones
1. Scooby-Doo (all series)

All I've got to say is thank goodness Freakazoid at least outranked The Herculoids (although F should have been much higher and TH, from the admittedly small sample I've seen, shouldn't have been there at all).

And why was Pinky & the Brain ranked higher than Animaniacs? I mean, it was a spin-off, and pretty much a one-joke show (although a lot of fun); it was not nearly as well-done as A. (There's a word I'm searching for, but it's way too hot today for my brain to dig it up! :D )

9. Battle of the Planets - Great!! The Gatchaman version is superior in all aspects except music though.

4. Superman: Max Fliescher Version - what version is this??

3. The Bugs Bunny Show/Looney Tunes - Amazing!

2. Batman: The Animated Series - The best US action cartoon ever!!

1. The Simpsons - the best comedic cartoon ever! Might be time to quit while it's ahead though...

Where's:
Tranzor Z
Rambo
George of the Jungle
Jackie Chan
Big Guy & Rusty

10. Static Shock
09. X-men: Evolution
08. Jonny quest ( the newest one...it has harcore)

My comments:

88. Static Shock- Seems a little new to be on the list

76. Invader ZIM is better than half the stuff on this list. HIGHER!

75. Saturday Night Live: TV Funhouse- I guess.

70. Speed Racer- HIGHER WITH IT, I SAY!

69. The Bullwinkle Show- Much higher with it. It's my number 2 or 3

68. Johnny Bravo - Yeah, I guess. Partible episodes I hope.

64. Muppet Babies- A massive part of my childhood.

59. Smurfs - I only for being the best stoner show ever......

57. The Critic- I would have put it higher.

56. The Flintstones- I also would have put this higher.

55. Darkwing Duck- YAYYYYY!

50. Dragon Ball Z - I'll agree with Dub. Not everybody's cup of tea, but enough people like it to constitute it being at 50.

44. Freakazoid!- Higher with it, I say!

43. Space Ghost- It did inspire the most twisted, random show ever......but still, Space Ghost?

39. Scooby-Doo SUCKS!

35. Rugrats- First 3 seasons, I hope.

32. Family Guy- HIGHER!

27. Futurama- Just the right place.

26. DuckTales - Yeah, this works.

24. Schoolhouse Rock - Best edutainment(Sp) ever.

23. Animaniacs- I woulda put it a little lower....

20. SpongeBob SquarePants- A wee bit lower. But I still love the show.

19. Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids - Grrr....

18. Pinky and The Brain- Once again, I woulda put it higher.

17. South Park - Just stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

16. The Tick - I've never seen the Tick. Poor Me.

13. Dexter's Laboratory_ I will allways prefer this to the PPGs. I don't know why.

12. Ren & Stimpy- A little higher for me.

11. Space Ghost Coast to Coast- Most definately.

10. The Powerpuff Girls - Once again, I will allways prefer Dexter, but this is in a good place nonetheless.

6. Batman Beyond- WHY!?

2. Batman: The Animated Series- I guess.

1. The Simpsons- Best show. Ever.

I royaly detest allmost all 70's and 80's cartoons. I'd have taken allmost all of them off the list.

Looney Tunes, Tex Avery, etc. are shorts that primeiried(Sp. I should learn to spell.) in theater a while back. They arn't really shows.

Ok, here's my thoughts on this one [This will contain a MAJORITY OF TRUTHFUL OPINONS, SO READ WITH CAUTION, I AIN'T HOLDING BACK.]

1. The Simpsons. DAMMIT! :mad: DAMMIT! :mad: DAMMIT! :mad: DAMMIT! :mad: DAMMIT! :mad:

Now I'm not one to flame, but how can J.C honestly think this crap is better than Family Guy?

WHY WON'T THIS UNFUNNY, DEADER THAN WOOD, SHOW DIE ALREADY?!!!!!!

5. Transformers: The Original Series :D

[I' ll call that a FAIR decision. But it should have been Number 2 rather than Batman: The Animated Series [though that show DOES deserve to be in the top ten]]

2. Batman: The Animated Series :D

[But REALLY Should have traded places with Transformers.]

26. Duck Tales :cool:

Should have been in the top ten at 9.

10. Powerpuff Girls :D

[Earned this posistion]

Well, I hope this helps,

P.S: Sailor Moon...is...not...GARBAGE!!!! :mad:

98. The Yogi Bear Show
{This should have been higher on the list, along with "Huckleberry Hound.}

79. Popeye
{If the 80s versions count, it shouldn't even be on the list.}

69. The Bullwinkle Show
{A sometimes underrated show, at least it got on the list.}

65. Tiny Toon Adventures
{Only #65? Too bad.}

63. Challenge of the Superfriends
{Same quality as the related series, decent.}

60. Beavis & Butt-Head
{No! No! People these days!}

59. Smurfs
{I recently started watching that show again after nearly forgetting its existance. Definetely one of the better 80s cartoons.}

58. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
{I have never seen that show. :eek:}

56. The Flintstones
{It's nice to see that this is not in the top 50.}

55. Darkwing Duck
{Although I am still mad at Darkwing for winning the Delaney poll.}

54. Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics
{Probably the best series with Scooby, due to his lack of constant presence. Nice to see Dynomutt get used.}

47. Thundarr the Barbarian
{I thought that was forgotten. Never seen it.}

45. The Herculoids
{Not as good as similar shows from the same time period.}

43. Space Ghost
{If you are referring to the 1960s cartoon, agreed.}

35. Rugrats
{If referring to the first few seasons, it shouldn't be quite that good (#35). If referring to the entire series to date, totally disagreed.}

25. Fantastic Four
{If it is the 60s version, I would be happy. If it is the 90s version, am I the only one who never heard of it?}

23. Animaniacs
{Nice to see one of the best post-1970 cartoons high on the list.}

21. Superman: The Animated Series
{Although I was never really into this, it is not very bad.}

20. SpongeBob SquarePants
{Extremely overrated.}

18. Pinky and The Brain
{This should switch places on the list with Tiny Toon Adventures. As a spinoff, it does not deserve to be listed better than the show it was derived from.}

15. Tom and Jerry
{Assuming it is rerun showing of the original 1940s to 1960s cartoons, good. If is the post-1967 garbage, bad.}

14. The Tex Avery Show
{What was the poor syndication show like?}

13. Dexter's Laboratory
{While somewhat overrated, it is worthy of being on this list.}

12. Ren & Stimpy
{Uh... I used to like it.}

11. Space Ghost Coast to Coast
{Way too high. That modern insult to Space Ghost should not be on the list.}

10. The Powerpuff Girls
{Should be below Dexter's Laboratory, but with the movie, it becomes more popular.}

9. Battle of the Planets
{I don't remember this show.}

8. Jonny Quest
{Nice to see it mentioned as better than "Herculoids."}

7. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
{G.I. Joe: the name is familiar, yet I have no clue what it is about, nor do I want to.}

6. Batman Beyond
{No good. Batman was done better in any earlier series.}

5. Transformers
{Now I see why it deserves its own game on the "Fun & Games" board! :rolleyes:}

4. Superman: Max Fliescher Version
{A well-deserved fourth place.}

3. The Bugs Bunny Show/Looney Tunes
{"The Bugs Bunny Show" is overrated, as it is just a television compilation, but "Looney Tunes" deserve it.}

2. Batman: The Animated Series
{Nice to see this above "Batman Beyond," although in my opinion, it does not top the Max Fleischer Superman.}

1. The Simpsons
{Don't think I'm trying to put down "The Simpsons," I just think they are not worthy of first place.

{Muppet babies is outright irritating! How did it get on the list?}

Having a root canal without anesthetic is better than Family guy. The Simpsons is one of the best sitcoms ever made. If it were live action, it would have won several best comedy Emmys in a row. What other series has produced classics like "Mother Simpson," "Bart Gets an F," "Lemon of Troy," "Lisa's Substitute," "Lisa the Greek," "Separate Vocations," and the Treehouse of Horror series? The show did take a turn for the worse when Mike Scully was executive producer, but that hardly discounts nearly nine seasons of consistenly funny episodes.
