I know that this can be an issue on the board, and I know that there are some who don't like to see the post numbers under their names, and those who want to track their progress on the boards, and sometimes it might get in the way of other threads if members do it all the time just to reach a certain goal. (I know that there are some of us who have done that in the past, but I am talking about frequent offenders! None of which I can think are still around, most wind up banned for other issues, but anyway)....

So my suggestion is something that I hope would make everybody happy. Check out the forums at DVDTalk.com and see how they do it there. You don't see a memeber's post number unless you click on their profile. Could we set it up here like that? Would that be sufficient to make both sides happy?

Hmm, i was just about to suggest that it might be interesting and fun if they set up a "league leaders" kind of section. Most posts, most threads started, posts per day, etc. But that kind of smacks right in the face of your suggestion. But I understand the dangers of abusing the post numbers. How often do you think it happens?

Actually, it doesn't fly in the face of anything I suggested. On DVD Talk, they have the very thing you're talking about, where every 5000 posts or so, you move up to a new level. I think you are a DVD GOD once you surpass 100,000 posts. Our post numbers would STILL be on the boards, but just only visible on our profiles. I think having some kind of "league leaders" type of thing, where you are in a certain class for every so many posts is a great idea! What do the administrators, namely Brian, think?
