After searching the TZ-GAD forum, all I could find remotely related to this post is if people like Spongebob. However, this particular question does not apply to that thread, and rather than bump an old thread up, I thereby create this post:
Off the top of my head, my favorite SB episodes would have to be:
Sailor Mouth - Just the concept of an innocent character like Spongebob unknowingly using fowl language is itself a brilliant comedy element, especially since you don't know what he's actually saying ('tho I've heard it rhymes with "ditch", I could be wrong.)
Born-Again Krabs - I've always found Mr. Krabs greedy streak an appealing part of his character, mostly because I'm partially guilty of hoarding money like him, but what I like about this episode is how it uses the old Biblical concept of avarice being a sin worth an eternity in "Davey Jones' Locker" (I'm no religious fanatic, but I was surprised to see that concept in that particular ep. Kinda makes you wonder what other concepts of good/evil they have).
So those are my picks. What are yours... and why? :)

Chocolate With Nuts - Just a great episode. It has everything a good cartoon needs to entertain me.

I haven't seen very many. And I'm not sure of the titles, but I do know that I liked one called Jellyfish Jam. And there was one where SB had to write a report for the drivers ed teacher, and he kept finding all sorts of excuses to put it off. Some of his antics in that one cracked me up.
I was just thinking about this today! :D I can't remember exactly which one I was thinking of but I know a couple others I like. Sorry I can't remember the names for the life of me.
1. I like the one where they think they killed the food inspector - It's so funny how he and Mr. Krab react and they keep making things worse for themselves. Then he wakes up! "Take that Zombie!" "If I give you an A will you stop hitting me?"
2. The episode where Plankton tries to make Spongebob do evil on the beach. It just shows how naiive and innocent Sb is. I love it. I haven't seen the sponge in a while though. I need to watch it more often.
I have a couple of favorite scenes too:
1. Today I thought of a scene where Spongebob had glasses on, went jellyfishing with Pat, and was singing "La la la la la"(I don't know the name of the song and the internet doesn't communicate the notes I'm humming) It was hilarious, I think it's in the episode where they take Squidward jellyfishing but I'm not sure.
2. I think it's hilarious when Mr. Krabs tries to get the #1 soda hat from SB, he says, "Take it off you look like a girl!" and SB says, "am I a pretty girl?" Spongebob just has such a happy disposition, that's why I like him.

This is my favorite ep too! Spongy saying the "F" word is just hilarious! :D My sisters agree with me on this also.

I don't watch "Spongebob" on a regular basis, but one of my favorite episodes was the one that aired earlier today where Spongebob and Squidward thought Mr. Crabs was a robot. That was one of the funniest episodes I had seen.

Band Geeks- The ending enough, is what makes it the best, "Sweeeeeet, Sweet, Sweet, Victory!"

There were a Lot Of Good Episodes. My Favorites Would Be:
"Mermaid And Barnicle Part 1-5" (Similar To Angry Beaver's "Muscular Beaver 1-5" Except Spongeboby).
"Frankendoodle" (Is 10 Times Better Then The Entiere Chalkzone Series. "I Am Spongebob, Destroyer of Evil!" "Relax, it's just a drawing").
"Christmas Who?" (If Only For that Christmas song. "Spongebob, get this stuff down immediatley!").

that one- I forgot the title but spongebob tries to get into a tough guy bar and ends up going to super wenie hut jr.

"The Krusty Krab Training Video". :D
Had me laughing so hard the first time I saw it :)
"Opposite Day"
"The Paper"
"MM & BB 1 & 2"
"Pizza Delivery"
"Culture Shock"
"I'm Your Biggest Fanatic"
"Doing Time"
"Nasty Patty"
I personally think Spongebob is a very funny and enjoyable show, as long as it's not an episode with Sandy as the lead character. For some reason I think her episodes (with a few exceptions like "Pressure" and "Pre-Hibernation Week") are some of the unfunniest points of the series.

Just One Bite- I loved that episode, even with the Green-Eggs-and-Hamesque plot and the continuity error of "Squidward never having a Krabby Patty before" (remember "Your Shoe's Untied").

It was a funny episode, but I just do not always like that Spongebob always gets away with it with Squidward getting the shaft (I feel sorry for the poor guy sometimes).
The most notable one for me was the "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy" episode where SB and Patrick release Manray (voiced by Ghimli) from his prison, and they do everything to stop him. Then of course the rather absurd ending with Manray taking off his mask, only to reveal that he has no head, along with the Orb of Confusion.

The training video was great.
The Band Geeks with Spongebob singing 'It's the thrill of the kill.' or something to hat effect.
Nasty Patty where the inspector keeps getting it.
Grave Yard Shift, another scarry episode with a spooky ending.
Jellyfish Jam was a lot of fun.
Idiot Box shows the power of Spongebobs imagination.
Then there is one with Flats where Spongebob keeps getting that poor old guy beat-up "I do enjoy the young people,' and he tells Gary not to look, so he pulls out a camera.
And which episode was SpongeBob watching that hydra contorting on tv, then turned it off quick when Gary entered the room.
Actually, there is little about Spongebob I don't like.
He's my role model.
Chocolate With Nuts - This episode was great. Spongebob and Patrick's various attempts at selling the chocolate bars (like Patrick's "I LOVE YOU" and "Focus... focus... focus" with his eyes closing in on the guy they were trying to sell to), the salesman's various attempts at getting Spongebob and Patrick to BUY the chocolate bars (like the heart attack story - "I was born with paper skin and glass bones. Every morning I break my arms... every evening I break my legs. At sleep I suffer until my heart attacks put me to sleep). It just had everything that makes an episode great.
Krusty Krab Training Video - Oh god... there's just so much in this episode that made me laugh. Patrick's phobia of the ceiling, Squidward through the entire episode ("Notice the 'I Really Wish I Wasn't Here Right Now' button on his shirt")... there was so much about this episode that was hilarious, I can't sum it up in a single paragraph.
Dying For Pie - Everything. Just. Everything.
ADDED:
Shanghaied! - Patrick steering, SB/Patrick trying to scare people, their "first victim" ("Hey look! There's a good guy we can scare!" (telescope shows a gangster fish walking down the street)), Squidward's cracks and falling through the vortex, Patrick's gum wish (you could only see it in the first showing)...

Here we go...
-Rock Bottom: Simply for the scene where he tries to get a candy bar out of the machine while shuttles fly by at exact moments.
-Pressure: Sorry, Javeman, I LOVED this one, especially two scenes: Where Sandy takes off her helmet (and SpongeBob taunts her by breathing) and the live action scene above water.
-Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost: Patrick shines in this one- one watermelon fresh from the vines!
-Neptune's Spatula- A classic, and John O'Hurley is perfect as Neptune.
-Big Pink Loser- Once again, a great Patrick episode.
-Grandma's Kisses- SpongeBob is at his funniest when he goes to ridiculous lengths to make lifestyle changes (see also Nature Pants)- acting like a grown-up was priceless, then he lost it and flooded the house (but they're underwater?? Never mind.. :p )
-I'm with Stupid- The sight gags make this one, especially at the end when they hack SpongeBob mercilessly.
-Life of Crime- SpongeBob & Patrick go crazy in the head, all because they stole a balloon... on free balloon day. Nice antics by the two.
And while it isn't a big favorite of mine, the episode Patty Hype had one of my favorite non sequitor lines: "I bet you miss... Squidward... and the grill... and the crow's nest..." :D

I'm not a big Spongebob fan but there are a few that I actually enjoy watching when they come on.
The one where Spongebob and Patrick have to paint Mr. Krabs house, they try to get the small dot of paint off the dollar and it was just really funny because spongebob freaks out over a large paintbubble and then Patrick decides that it would be fun to put another one in, the bubble did a great job missing the pictures though
Rock Bottom- it was just silly spongebob wants some food and everytime he tries the bus comes. And the accents of the rock bottom residents
Fish- Can I -ppth-help you-ppth.
The one where Spongebob gets into everyones dreams. I liked Gary's poem.
The last one is the one where they adopt an orphaned Clam and Patrick claims that he goes to work everyday but Spongebob finds out that he goes to his house and eats donuts. The narrator was great too.
sorry about not telling the names of the episodes, I just don't know them.
-Pressure: Sorry, Javeman, I LOVED this one, especially two scenes: Where Sandy takes off her helmet (and SpongeBob taunts her by breathing) and the live action scene above water.
Actually, I mentioned "Pressure" was an exception to the rule I stated, I liked that episode as well, specially Patrick's line: "Sandy is a girl?" Classic.
And I'm glad you mentioned "Patty Hype". That one was pure comedy too. ("Look at our tounges!")

Actually, I mentioned "Pressure" was an exception to the rule I stated, I liked that episode as well, specially Patrick's line: "Sandy is a girl?" Classic. (hits head) Oh right. I skimmed that part.
I forgot about The Chaperone and Employee of the Month, two outstanding 1st season episodes. "Hey Mr. Krabs, are you talking to that dummy I made? Pretty realistic, isn't it?" :D
While I'm here, my worst episodes of SpongeBob:
-The Sponge Who Could Fly: The citizens are WAAAAAY too mean-spirited in this one, more than usual. Plus the live action wrap-arounds take up too much screen time.
-The Great Snail Race: SpongeBob acts like a complete JERK in this one. It went past the point of being funny- he was downright cruel to Gary. The only good part was Patrick's rock winning the race.
-Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy 4: This, IMO, was the weakest MM&BB episode. #5 was better, but only slightly.
-Help Wanted: Not so much a bad episode, but mostly exposition, as it told how SpongeBob got his job, and the episode had little humor (except for SpongeBob going to get the hydrodynamic spatula).
-The Snowball Effect: Booooooooooring. We've seen the snowball fight plot in a bunch of other shows, and too many of the sight gags don't work. You forget most of the episode after you watch it.
-My Pretty Seahorse: Aside from Squidward's crying because of onions placed by him and Patrick with a board nailed to his head, very little humor worked in this one.

Band Geeks
The Nasty Patty
MM&BB IV and V
Frankendoodle
Just One Bite
Patty Hype
Plankton
Welcome to the Chum bucket
Walking Small
Survival of the Idiots

I agree with you on this list. Except for "Help Wanted". The first episode of any show, whomps. You just have to suck it up, and watch the other eps. :anime:

For my money, these are the funniest (and best) "Spongebob" episodes:
The Bully
Survival of the Idiots
Rock Bottom/Procrastination (I mention these two together because I see so much of myself in Spongebob in the episodes)
I'm Your Biggest Fanatic
Safety Freak (if only for the ending; a true LOL moment for me)
Dumped
Squeaky Boots
Krusty Krab Training Video
Wet Painters
Plankton!
Frankendoodle
MuscleBob Buffpants
Welcome to the Chum Bucket
Life of Crime
Suds
Hall Monitor
Sailor Mouth
The Algae's Always Greener
Born Again Krabs
And, while I'm here, I may as well name the worst episodes (an interesting thing to note: even in most of the bad episodes, there's at least one great gag, which I'll name):
Clams (Mr. Krabs conducting the Jaws-like music)
Nasty Patty ("Yes. They are all idiots, aren't they?")
I'm With Stupid ("I got this." "Ah! It's a note!" "Turn it over. There's a letter.")
Graveyard Shift (Squidward turning the guy away at closing time, yet he still orders; it's like I was looking into a mirror)
Squilliam Returns ("What do you think I'm paying you for?" "But you don't pay us. We don't even exist. We're just a clever visual metaphor personifying the abstract concept of thought." - I submit this moment to anyone who would dare call the show stupid.)
Krab Borg

"Squeaky Boots" is the WORST episode of SBSP. It is just so annyoing. And not enough of Squidawrd, and too much of Krabs (Who Can Be Funny, But Not in This PArticular Episode). This episode seemed to be very dark and black humorish, but black humor in Spongebob does work well sometimes (Nasty Patty, Graveyard Shift) Just not this episode, did the dark humor work well.

This episode seemed to be very dark and black humorish, but black humor in Spongebob does work well sometimes (Nasty Patty, Graveyard Shift) Just not this episode, did the dark humor work well. It was all right; best moments were the parody of The Telltale Heart at the end (with some truly wacky Krabs sight gags), and SpongeBob squeaking the boots. That halfway scene where Krabs was trying to sleep WAS slow-moving, though.

I wholeheartedly agree! "F.U.N." was the first episode I saw and I thought it was great, but that scene in "Rock Bottom" is what really got me hooked on the series. When he pokes the bar and the bus' engine revs, I laughed so much! :D
As for my favorite episode, I don't think I could pick one. It's more of a favorite moments kind of thing for me, of which there are many.

My Favorite Spongebob Episodes:
Krusty Krab Training Video ("Not so fast, Eager McBeaver!")
I Had An Accident ("No, your other bottom!")
Krab-Borg ("You're gonna interrogate my blender?")
Plankton! ("Shing! Sparkle, sparkle.")
The Chaperone ("{unintelligable mumbling}Hot dog!")
Welcome to the Chum Bucket ("That's it, mister! You just lost your brain privilages!")
F.U.N ("Well, I like it. Let's do it again!")
Sailor Mouth ("Hey Patrick, how the :beep: are ya?")
The Algae's Always Greener ("Good grief, he's naked!")
Hall Montior ("This looks like a job for the HALL MONTIOR!")

I like most SpongeBob except for the Bully, The Sponge Who Could Fly(Patchy Segments aside), Grandma's Kisses, Survival Of The Idiots, Bossy Boots, Sandy, SpongeBob and the Worm, & Squid on Strike, & Patty Hype. But here's my Top 5:
1. Frycook Games: The opening, Patrick, the events, the funny(though disturbing ending).
2. Krusty Krab Training Video: The Whole Damn Thing.
3. Idiot Box: Patrick's Glasses, the boxing joke, about 90%.
4. Hall Monitor: SpongeBob causing the trouble, Patrick, the ending.
5. Just One Bite: The bucket of gas joke makes it worth it.

"The Fry-Cook Games" is, in my opinion, one of the funniest SB episodes of all time. I swear, it's like a laugh-a-second-fest. My two favorite gags were the entire bun-wrestling ending scene (yes, including the final few disturbing seconds) and Spongebob maniacally twirling two spatulas like martial arts weapons and then putting them back behind him as he utters a little "tee-hee".

"Fry Cook Games" was a great episode ("Quake in fear mortals for....this huge guy carying the real contestant, Patrick Star!")
"Saftey Freak Spongebob" was grat just b/c of the opening scene snowboarding ("Stop naming moves after me!") and the end scene with the gorilla ("There on to us George!)
"Band Geeks" was made hilarious b/c of the scenes the citizens where practicing ("Squidward was always there for us when it was convinent for him)
And MM&BB:V- "Every Villan Is Lemons! Otherwise known as E.V.I.L"-need i say more?

The Algae's Always Greener ("Good grief, he's naked!")
Hey, I forgot about that one. Krabs looked like a big, red triangle in that one. :D
Another one I forgot about was "Shanghaied". Imagine how the Flying Dutchman felt by keeping Spongebob and Patrick around and how he dealt with them. Best line in that episode: "I get a wish too. Fruit prevents scurvy." Too funny.
"Saftey Freak Spongebob" was grat just b/c of the opening scene snowboarding ("Stop naming moves after me!") and the end scene with the gorilla ("There on to us George!)
Has that episode always aired with "Born Again Krabs", or was there something else afterwards that was later switched with this one for some odd reason?

Patrick: uhh I am (Sandy hits him) Sandy: Ok Pinhead Larry now it's your turn! (SB runs for it) PINHEAD!!!!!!! and also Sailor Mouth was totally funny and humorous.:D:D:anime::)
