a 'squawk' is a 4-digit code displayed by an aircraft's transponder - it is assigned by ATC, and is to be set by the pilot - this is not (normally) a biggie... sigh...

Being the TTTP's resident aviation expert, I can say that there is a code that alerts the ATC that an hijacking is in progress. The ATC code is assigned by the controller at the airport from which the airplane departs.

My co-worker, Brittany, and I fly on FS and she uses the VATSIM (http://www.vatsim.net) network which allows her to have an interactive flying enviroment. So we know a thing or two about flying.

yes, but there was no mention of the craft squawking 7500, only 'wrong' squawk.

(p.s. - nobody 'flies' a PC)
