Need Series help again... (Fruits Basket)

I'm saving up my money until June, and buying 2 anime titles along with some manga. Anyway, I heard that Fruits Basket was really good, so I was thinking about trying out that out. But the problem is, I don't really like Shoujo all that much. Most of the titles I own, both anime and manga, are Shonen/Harem-type stuff. I've also noticed that most of my stuff has females in the lead role or feature a large female cast... :anime:

Anyway, should I give it a chance, or just splurge my money on something else?

Go try that Funimation sampler disc they put out (if you can find it). Thats how I saw the first ep. While I didn't get what the appeal is to it, it seemed like a cute little non-offensive show without too much annoying anime comedy or rediculously shoujo-y moments.

It's balance of cute characters to messed-up character histories with a small dash of action is executed excellently thanks to Akitoroh Daichi's superb direction. The end result also very cross-demographic in Japan, and the show did very with teenage girls and teenage boys. The first two episodes give you a reasonable taste of what the show is like, but if you could borrow or rent the first volume, it'll give you a better view of the show.

Fruits Basket was the show that sold me on shoujo after getting hooked anime through Toonami's big shonens/seinens (Tenchi, Outlaw Star, Blue Sub, Big O,) so it might just do the same for you.
