Ouch. Actually, I've seen something like that before, only it was some guy who was working with a nail gun on a construction crew and got one in the head. The article said he didn't feel it at all (the brain itself doesn't sense pain) and just walked into the hospital with a large nail out of his head. It was in such a position that if it were removed he would die, so they cut off the end of it and he lived, he just had a gap or two in his long-term memories. The bullet doesn't look good though...did he survive?

That looks like a big friggin' bullet. How that poor guy is still alive is beyond me. Maybe it's a hoax.

And I thought I awoke this morning with a bugger of a headache....
As to how the man lived with a projectile that size in his brain...two words...Phineas Gage....

Owie! At least the guy lived...I wonder if his personality was affected pernamently; I've heard people usually become nasty after cases like this-the part of the brain whacked can become screwed up in giving you your character, thus making you a Grinch (like one guy who was hit with a STEEL BEAM!-he became very mean afterwards with part of his mind damaged).
...And I KNOW that having a bullet in your brain would still make you grumpy, altered personality or not. :p
...um, why the bullet is intact....perhaps it was made with material strong enough to withstand the impact with the skull? And once through that, the bullet was in soft territory.

Is it a child/baby skull? Surely that isn't a full-grown man I'm looking at an X-ray of.
Not to be morbid, but that'd make a novel avatar, if the resizing doesn't ruin the detail....

morbid doesn't BEGIN to describe its use as an avatar.

edit: add:
and, yes, it is inoperable
