What in the world is this video tape entitled "LOONEY TUNES VHS BUMPER COLLECTION"? (see ebay link below)
Can I assume its a collection of the bumpers that were used in the past Looney Tunes/Bugs Bunny Shows?
Anyone ever seen this or have it?
I know its in PAL which is a problem for us in the NTSC world.
Just curious about it.

No, they are just collections of WB cartoons that have only been released in the UK. For some reason, they are called "Bumper Collections" (I have no clue why they are referred to as that... does anyone know?). On various Internet sites I have also seen UK issued "Bumper Collections" of Tom & Jerry and even modern day shows like Tiny Toons and Taz-Mania. You'll get some interesting glimpes at other cartoon collections not available in the USA by doing searches at http://www.amazon.co.uk/

I got Tape #1 and decided it was enough for me. I mean, sure, I got some cartoons I didn't have, but they are all in the time-compressed format that we sometimes ... no, that we often see on Cartoon Nework.

There are about 6 of these released in the UK. The 'bumper' just means 'a large number of'......and I thought we all spoke the same language........if anyone is interested in the full listings then email me(irwins@anz.com).

I've seen all of those in shops over here, and they look pretty boring really- some Looney Tunes Cartoons.
The only one really worth getting for me was Volume 8, this had many new ones that at the time, Cartoon Network didn't have. Things like Assault and Peppered, Box Office Bunny, Carrotblanca, Duck Dodgers and the Return..., Computer Colorized You Ought To Be In Pictures and the uncut Daffy's Inn Trouble.
Since then, CNUK now have all of these and air them regularly (Except for 'You Ought To Be In Pictures' or any pre-43 Looney Tunes in any forms!) but at least when I'm making captures of the cartoons on here I don't need to spend 5 minutes rubbing out a Cartoon Network logo.

I am afraid I have to disagree with you on that. Those tapes are good introductions to anyone just getting into WB cartoons in the UK as only CN shows them (BBC just started again on Saturday morning for half hour).
Also CN / Boomerang do show pre 1943 shorts. All of these have aired in the past year -
A Feud There Was (1938)
A Star Is Hatched (1938)
A Sunbonnet Blue (1937)
A Wild Hare (1940)
Ain't We Got Fun? (1937)
Bedtime For Sniffles (1940)
Boulevardier From the Bronx (1936)
Case of the Missing Hare (1942)
Cinderella Meets Fella (1938)
Confederate Honey (1940)
Conrad the Sailor (1942)
Coo-Coo Nut Grove (1936)
Count Me Out (1938)
Cracked Ice (1938)
Cross Country Detours (1940)
Daffy Duck and Egghead (1938)
Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur (1939)
Daffy Duck in Hollywood (1938)
Detouring America (1939)
Ding Dog Daddy (1942)
Dog Daze (1937)
Dog Gone Modern (1939)
Double Chaser (1942)
I'll stop at the D's but all of these have definately aired. You need to look out for late night/early morning programs or the marathons. Again don't knock CN in the UK 'cos that is all we got.

Ok, that's a good point, but I was refering to Looney Tunes. The cartoons you listed are Merrie Melodies, which I remember well.
Yes, BBC now play Looney Tunes, but unlike Cartoon Network some of these are edited for violence. I have seen two edited so far- Daffy's Inn Trouble, and Ballot Box Bunny. Also, they seem to be airing the same few ones at the moment, but that's slowly getting better and more cartoons are being added.
Late night? That'll be Bugs&Daffy then, 3 cartoons airing at 3.20 in the morning. Wow.
Early morning. That'll be the 7 hour Looney Tunes marathon that has aired every day for the past 1 1/2 weeks- that would be brilliant if it wasn't for the strange 'All pre-48 WB cartoons in the first hour, then all post-48 for 6 hours' formula, which means if you get up after 7.00am (GMT) you miss the chance to see any pre-48s.
Ok, the cartoons on the tapes are a good introduction but until around Spring this year, we didn't get any of the Daffy/Speedys or 1967-9 ones, or the 1980s/1990s Looney Tunes. These only arrived after that Looney Tunes marathon a few months ago, which brung 250 premiers to CNUK. After this, the pre-48s almost vanished from the channel until a month or two later. Cartoon Network America, although it edits a lot of toons has 'Toonheads'. And 'The Bob Clampett Show'. And LNB&W, The Popeye Show, Acme Hour, a lot more Bugs&Daffy and shows a whole load of pre-43 Looney Tunes in all their glory. Perhaps it's just because I'm a Porky Pig fan, but I just wish a compromise could be made.

I understand where you are coming from. We did have ToonHeads but that stopped a while back. I had the email address of the CN director of programs who on introduction was very informative even telling me what was going to aired and at what time (this is available to Us viewers on their website - but not here). Problem is he stoped replying to my emails - maybe he was sacked for giving out inside information.
If anyone from CNUK is reading this - why can't you be more like our American cousins ? OK so all the great studios are American. So what, we want to watch them too. Where are all the MGM shorts (apart from Tom & Jerry)?
Same with video releases. I end up buying all mine by mail order or by ebay - and it costs $10 a throw postage. We certainly get a bum deal over here. All we ever got was the legal release of Disney's Song of the South on video (PAL) which are now changing hands at £60 ($95) which is crazy. But I digress.....................apologies
