While on the Hollywood Tour Bus in Universal Studios I was passing by posters of movies made in Hollywood from the past to the present. Then I spotted a movie poster for Curious George set for 2005:eek:
Yes it's animated (thank god) and the animation is so bad looking, or old styled like in the videos. Has anyone else heard news of this movie?

I can confirm that the movie is coming....as well as that Will Ferrel will play the man in the yellow hat.

How the deuce are they going to make a movie out of Curious George? Is he going to swallow the whole damned puzzle and end up in intensive car?

'Curious George' does have potential to make a decent kids movie, with the right handling. The strength of the original books is that George is kind of an Every Kid; well-meaning, but prone to getting in trouble because he hasn't yet learned to temper his curiosity with good judgement. One could get a lot of stories out of that basic format.

I just hope they don't give it an awful bodily-functions-humor makeover, like they did to 'Cat In The Hat'.

Or do something idiotic, like have George speak.

Curious George will be traditionally animated and it will be produced by Ron Howard. Universal current owns George and his friends. This movie has been development for a long time, it first started out as a live-action film than animation back to live-action than to CGI and now finally traditional animation.

A fun fact: Jim Carrey was oringally attached to play the Man in the Yellow Man for the live-action version in the late 90's, but it fell through.

I read about this in Variety a while back. Universal is doing it in-house (on studio property, too) and looked really good from a still picture I saw in the article. Uni and Ron Howard tried doing it in live-action (with a CG George) and fully 3D, but said that doing the movie in the traditional 2D-style is the best way to preserve the essence of the illustrated kids book.
I'm glad Uni is not shy about sticking to 2D and not go 3D crazy like Disney.

Hmmm... A Curious George movie? I never heard one coming out until now. And it's a good thing the movie's done in traditional animation not like the 3d verison Disney is in love with.  At least they doing the right thing a making just like a regular cartoon. ;) :)

Actually, I was hoping for the claymation George from my childhood (the only time I'd rather have a movie animated in CGI vs. traditional, well, except Pixar's. And even then I'd rather have seen Disney make more traditional films. Ah, whatever.)
